Workshops are offered in these formats: OO = Online Only H = Hybrid: In Person or Online IP = In Person BALLET Students will learn the foundation of Dance graduating through tiered levels matching age, learned techniques, and experience. Beginning with Creative Movement, students learn how a dance class operates, basic positions, warm-up and cool down skills, and introductory techniques. Students graduate into Pre-Ballet at age five, building coordination, turn-out, and skill. Students then progress through Ballet I, Ballet II, and Upper level Ballet (this includes Pre-Pointe and Pointe I at this time.) More advanced students may also enter Advanced Prac- tice workshop learning higher level techniques, musicality, and barre work while increasing flexibility and poise. All dancers must wear pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes with hair off their face or wear white t-shirt, black sweatpants, and black ballet shoes. Adults may wear comfortable clothing with pink ballet shoes. Explore tech- niques of the greatest Broadway choreographers and how dance can tell stories in this fun and high energy class. Students should wear comfortable clothing and black dance shoes. Week one focus- es on “Hula,” the Hawaiin word for “dance” and the spectacular tradition of Polynesian music and dance. Week Two focuses on the dance of West Africa. Deeply rooted in the traditions of the people, this barefoot dance style focuses on rhythmic body movement. Spend a workshop learning about Samba, a dance form that derived from enslaved peoples who were transported from Africa to Brazil to work in the mines and sugar plantations. Finally wrap up this exciting workshop series with a dance form made popular by US crews of street dancers beginning in the 1970’s, Hip Hop. Adults are welcome to join this workshop series too. Each week participate in a talkback with a Film Teaching Artist and then view a full-length film in the BAC’s Studio Theatre. Each session will have a dif- ferent theme: The Best Film of Each Decade (Winter), Game Changers (Spring), and The Best of Summer Cinema (Summer). There will be a drop-in rate of $10 per movie charged for those who do not want to sign up for the entire session; however, this class will not run unless 15 students are registered. Learn chords, strumming patterns, melodic lines, and popular songs as well as how to play with others in a fun, relaxed setting. Students 8 and older move on to Guitar Basics workshop, followed by Guitar I and Guitar II. Students must bring an acoustic or electric guitar to class. Electric guitarists do not need to bring an amp. These include both straight plays and musicals and incorporate the BAC TECHIES class to help get the production up and running. Students learn audition techniques, more advanced theatre theories, acting exercises, warm-up techniques, and push their art to the limit. Students and community members will get the opportunity to work with a professional director, choreographer, musical director, and theatre designer in addition to performing live on-stage in the Baffes Theatre with professional actors. 12

Scholarships The Beverly Arts Center is pleased to announce a new Scholarship Program for the School of Fine Arts. Families may now apply for a partial scholarship to cover up to 50% of tuition for their School of the Fine Arts workshops and camps. There are three levels of scholarship. Eligibility for each tier is based on gross family income and family size. No further discounts may be applied once a scholarship has been received, including Sale Day. No more than three scholarship students per any workshop per sesion, except for Camp. Camp Scholarships are unlimited.
