Business Challenges and Objectives Business challenges The business uptake on SAP Business Intelligence reporting for RFS has been minimal. The state of SAP Business Intelligence could best be described as “limited scope of mostly operational reporting from SAP”. There was a concern about the accuracy and timeliness of data accessed through current BI reports. As a result, most RFS users depended on manual data extracts from SAP to support their information needs. The data extracts being from a combination of existing reports and table extracts, which then are combined in Excel spreadsheets for summary and exception reports. This was a time consuming process, and is inherent with risk. Project objectives ▪ Continue to develop data collection and management tools, intelligence gathering and forecasting capability for evidence based and opportunistic decision making. ▪ Use new and existing infrastructure, technology and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness. ▪ Further increase accessibility, usage and integrity of organisational data through greater co-ordination and integration of data management systems and processes. © 2019 SAP SE or an SAP affiliate company. Additional Information The original Case for Business Intelligence has in scope to roll out existing SAP modules in sequence. The initial Project begun with a Proof of Concept for the SAP Financial Module on late August 2017, using SAP Analytics Cloud as the selected provider. Between September and November 2018, the initial Financial Dashboards were deployed across NSWRFS Cost Centre Managers and the Finance Team across the entire organisation. Following the deployment of the financial dashboards, positive feedback was received from key stakeholders, including that the new dashboards allowed for visibility of financial data previously not available, creating transparency and better decision making from the executive level. Starting December 2018, the NSW RFS Business Intelligence Team commenced work in the SAP Procurement module, delivering the initial category Management Dashboard in April 2019. Business requirements and expectations from the executive management call for a swift expansion of our Business Intelligence experience, to be able to stay relevant, reach new audiences, get more attention from our users and make end-to end decisions with confidence. NSW RFS Business Intelligence Team is currently working on Human Resources Dashboards, with the intention to go-live before the end of the financial year. © 2019 SAP SE or an SAP affiliate company.
