Saint Anne Cardinals Conference Champs! On February 9, 2020, the Saint Anne Cardinals won the 8th grade championship for the “2019-2020 Northwest Catholic Conference” played at Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights. This same group of young men won last year in 7th grade and was the first team in Saint Anne’s history to win the Championship and now win back to back Championships (7th grade 2018-2019 and 8th grade 2019-2020). This powerhouse team has been together since 5th grade. Their overall record for the last four seasons is 72 wins and 5 losses. BACC Announces Chamber 2020 Business Awards The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) announced the 2020 business awards at its Annual Dinner & Scholarship Fundraiser on Thursday, Jan. 16. The evening was a celebration of Chamber accomplishments and people. It attracted over 200 local business, community and governmental leaders. “Our Chamber Business Award recipients are individuals who passionately pursue their dreams, setting the bar high for excellence and service,” said new 2020 BACC Chairman of the Board Keith Hanson of Hanson Law Group, LLP. Signal Hill, NSDAR of Barrington Installs New Officers and Board for 2019-2021 AT THE MAY 2019 meeting, the duly elected officers and board members of the Signal Hill Chapter took their oaths of office. The new two- year board consists of: Joyce Wright, Regent; Kathy Boyle, First Vice Regent; Susan Olund, Second Vice Regent; Jennifer Fisher, Recording Secretary; and Kathy Casey, Corresponding Secretary. A one-year term of office will be filled by Donna Cardwell, Treasurer; Lynn Watters, Historian; and Deb Edlund, Chaplain. The members of Signal Hill meet from September through May of each year, primarily at the Barrington Area Library. Meetings include general business to be voted on by the membership at large, information disseminated from the national headquarters in Washington, D.C., and educational programs by educators, area speakers on topics of importance, or members who have insight into a broad range of topics, including historic preservation, education, and veteran’s affairs. In addition, Signal Hill members independently volunteer at a variety of concerns in the Barrington and Fox River Valley area, and as a group at the Community Meal in November, and for Earth Day or veteran’s Stand Down projects. The Signal Hill Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, raises funds throughout the year and distributes to 501(c)(3) organizations, whose missions support DAR’s mission of education, historic preservation, patriotism, conservation, and Native American issues. The chapter was founded in 1972, and is dedicated to preserving history, promoting patriotism, conservation and historic awareness in our community, and securing America’s future through better education for children. Young Hearts for Life has been held at Barrington High School in 2017, 2014, 2012, and several years prior to this. The Young Hearts for Life (YH4L) Cardiac Screening Program CLEANUP & will be at Barrington High School on April 2, 2020. All Barrington High School students will be able to receive a FREE ECG RESTORATION ■ Commercial and Residential (electrocardiogram) during their PE, lunch or open period.
