ROLE SPECIFICATION Head of Corporate Benefits Wells Fargo The Role: The Head of Benefits is responsible for the overall strategy, design, implementation, administration and compliance of the Wells Fargo benefits program. This role will be critical to continuing Wells Fargo’s positioning as an employer of choice and a leader in the financial services industry. The candidate we seek will have a proven track record as a leader with consulting and /or corporate benefits program management, with strong financial/actuarial skills, business acumen and outstanding interpersonal skills. This individual will manage a benefits team across several geographic locations, as well as management of outsourced relationships with plan administrators. In addition, this leader will interface with multiple internal staff specialist groups, to effectively deliver an outstanding benefits experience and program to approximately 800,000 team members, dependents, and retirees. The primary responsibilities of this role: Develop the benefits philosophy and strategy, and translate them into actionable programs, operations and activities. Ensure that benefits programs support the company’s strategic objectives and comply with all legal requirements. Lead across Wells Fargo businesses and stakeholders to bring consensus to policies and practices that support the enterprise. Promote and manage a strong risk management culture and ensure strong management of operational, financial and regulatory risk. Anticipate and respond with creativity and agility to a rapidly changing internal and external environment. The successful candidate will possess proven relationship building and collaboration skills with the ability to engage and influence leaders in a variety of business divisions. He/she will demonstrate a record of promoting a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizational boundaries. This position will need the skills and experience to develop strong working relationships with HR colleagues and key Wells Fargo leaders to determine how benefits and benefits solution tools can enhance the work environment and help drive employee performance. Other key stakeholders include Legal, Finance, Corporate Technology, HR Operations, and HR Communications. Strong verbal and written communications skills are required as this role will be required to provide analysis and make presentations to senior leaders, and corporate executives. Successful candidates will also have experience working in large, complex, dynamic organizations with multiple business groups and broad geographic reach and the ability and tolerance to work in an ambiguous environment.

They should also have a strong business-oriented perspective with the ability to effectively consult with a variety of internal clients. To be successful in this role the leader will need to demonstrate strong Strategic, People, and Operational leadership skills. Strategic leadership. The ability to assess short- and long-term market trends and Wells Fargo’s competitive needs to design a holistic benefits program that drives business results. Specific areas of focus include: Affordable Care Act and employer changes to sponsored health insurance. Implications of a generational transition from defined benefit programs to defined contribution programs. Changing workforce demographics and work/life needs. People leadership. A strong people leader who can be successful in Wells Fargo’s collaborative leadership culture. Build, develop, motivate and sustain a high performing team of leaders and technical experts who can successfully guide and manage our programs on behalf of Wells Fargo. Develop collaborative partnerships with key departmental leaders to develop, implement and communicate benefits programs. Operational leadership. Ensure robust management of day to day operations. Aggressively manage costs throughout the system, including claims trend and vendor contracts. Oversee robust governance and operational processes for our vendor partners. Oversee a robust and disciplined financial analytics process to deliver reliable financial forecasts for programs with annual gross funding in excess of $5.0 billion. Continue build of international benefits programs and operations. Required Experience: A minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressive leadership experience leading and managing multiple layers of managers in multiple locations.
ROLE SPECIFICATION Head of Corporate Benefits Wells Fargo Preferred Experience: 7 years’ experience managing the strategy, design, implementation, administration and compliance of benefits plans. Strong preference for leadership experience in a consulting/benefits administrations organization, and /or a corporate benefits development and administration. Other healthcare or benefit plan provider experience is also desired. Extensive technical benefits knowledge and a thorough understanding of regulatory and legal issues relating to benefits administration.
