2021 RIO BLANCO COUNTY FAIR DEDICATION Rio Blanco County Commissioners 1921-2021 Rio Blanco County has a rich history filled with western tradition, uplifting community support, and good old country fun at the county fair. The Rio Blanco County Fair has been an annual celebration showcasing and promoting the unique talents, skills, and agricultural prowess our residents possess. On this one hundredth anniversary of the Rio Blanco County Fair, it is a privilege to dedicate this year’s fair book to the County Commissioners serving from 1921 to 2021. A centennial milestone such as this could not have been reached without their excellent support throughout the years. From all walks of life, these outstanding individuals devoted themselves through their service to carrying forward our local traditions and have continuously played a critical role in the success of our county fair. At this year’s fair, we honor our past and present commissioners with an immeasurable gratitude. We are inspired by the spirit of common purpose that has always guided Rio Blanco County throughout history and for future generations to come. Ty Gates Ed Coryell R. S. RIO BLANCO COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WELCOME It is hard to believe that the annual Rio Blanco County Fair has been running successfully for 100 consecutive years held in Meeker. During the first county fair Warren G. Harding was President of the United States and Babe Ruth hit his 138th home-run. It is safe to say a lot has changed in 100 years! With all the changes our world has seen over the past 100 years, it is good to know some things stay the same, for instance the culture and heritage that Rio Blanco County is built on. We support the long standing tradition of farming and ranching, as it is truly a part of our past, present and future. The Rio Blanco County Fair Board has continued the process of improving the fair, this is only made possible by the dedication of a large group of volunteers and staff. This includes the fair board, committees, 4-H leaders, partners, and all others that pitch in to make this event a huge success. When you visit the Rio Blanco County Fair take the time to acknowledge the hardwork and dedication the exhibitors have put into their project or raising quality animals. These continued efforts contribute to our western Colorado heritage and a tradition that will hopefully continue for another 100 years! Our shepherds will be judged on general appearance, garment appropriate to the fair theme, animal control, and personality. This year we will be adding the category of Mentor & Me. This new category is designed for our youth to have an opportunity to show with a mentor of their choice. It could be anyone from a parent, sibling, family friend, or any other mentor you can think of. Mentors may also lead a sheep or help the youth contestant lead their sheep. If you do not have a sheep, our Cloverbud leader has very loving, show ready sheep available for the contest with a small donation of $5.00 to our Cloverbud program. Our sheep lead is dedicated to buying all awards and mementos locally. We want our community to know that all donations we receive are put back into Rio Blanco Coun- ty’s small business.
