Table of Contents What is ECU Transit? ECU Transit is the university’s transit system that serves students, faculty, and visitors via fixed routes Page and on-demand services. Airport Shuttle Service 5 Fixed Routes Our fixed routes are our general day-to-day bus services that serve many on and off campus locations. BusTime ® 6 Fixed routes connect On-Campus Living locations and Off-Campus Student Living complexes with Transit On-Demand 8 classes, dining, and parking. Fixed routes also connect Main Campus and the Health Sciences Campus. Park and ride lots, campus circulators, and shopping centers are also areas served by fixed routes. System-Wide Bus Stop List 10 ECU Transit services are free to ride. Most of our on-campus locations have designated bus shelters Gold Route 12 to wait under until the bus arrives. Enter in the front door of the bus and exit through the rear door. Health Sciences Route 13 Always arrive to your stop a few minutes early to allow for traffic conditions. Do not wait until the last bus before your class time; we recommend you ride about 45 minutes early to make sure you arrive on Minges Park and Ride Route 13 time. System Map 14 Transit On-Demand Campus Circulator Route 16 Our on-demand van service operates point-to-point and does not duplicate any fixed routes that are in service. This service is fare-free but the rider will need to provide a tangible and valid ECU 1 Card to Uptown Route 17 the driver. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) 17 Purple Route 18 Pirate Access Pirate Access is available to any student, faculty, staff, and visitor who has a permanent or temporary Brown Route 19 disability. It is a part of the Transit On-Demand service that assists riders who have difficulty accessing locations around campus. Anyone who needs the service are asked to apply on the Transit 33 East Route 20 website (transit.ecu.edu) under the drop-down menu Accessibility. How to Ride with ECU Transit? Airport Shuttle Service Sometimes the process of learning to use a transit system like ours can be a bit daunting. Our system is oriented around the university, with the vast majority of our ridership being students going to or from class. Start by familiarizing yourself with our routes; this will help you get acquainted not only with our system, but different areas of town as well. Some people prefer a more adventurous approach and will get on a bus just to see where it goes. Either way, you’re sure to see something new. Below are several of our tips for getting around and rider policies designed with everyone’s safety in mind. Our airport shuttles provide trips for students, staff, faculty, and family members traveling as their guests to and from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Pitt-Greenville Airport (PGV). RDU Shuttle This shuttle operates on a predetermined schedule to accommodate transportation to and from RDU before and during select academic breaks. Although subject to change, any schedules provided on our website are believed to be final. Individual tickets can also be purchased at any time outside of the predetermined schedule at a premium rate. Individual rides must be requested at least 1 week in advance. Several options are available for riders who wish to use our system for getting to, from, or around cam- pus. If you need help planning your trip, simply give us a call and a telecommunicator will be happy to Riding the RDU Shuttle help. Once tickets are purchased, using the RDU Shuttle is a pretty simple process. Please keep in mind ECU Transit’s Rider Policies when using the shuttle. All rides during normal operating hours between 5:30am and 11:00pm are available to If you live on campus, the bus system is a great way to visit friends who live in off-campus apartment students, staff, and faculty at no additional cost. Any trip requests outside our normal operating hours complexes. BusTime® BusTime® is a website that you can visit to locate your bus and know when it will arrive at the nearest bus stop. Visit bustime.ecu.edu on your computer or mobile device to begin seeing your bus in real-time. By creating an account you can access service alerts and stop time notifications. BusTime® will allow you to see upcoming vehicle passenger load seating occupancy as low, medium or high. Arrive at the nearest bus stop location at least two minutes before the estimated stop time, to ensure you don't miss the bus. Please note: estimated stop times are only available for vehicles arriving within 30 minutes. Estimated stop times Delays may occur due to but not limited to detours, traffic incidents, construction, weather or equip- ment problems which may affect the accuracy of the estimated stop times. If your bus is delayed, BusTime® will adjust the estimated stop times accordingly. For example, if the bus is estimated to arrive in 10 minutes but is delayed by an incident, the estimated stop time will remain at 10 minutes until the vehicle begins moving again. In the event that a vehicle stops transmitting data to the servers, it will not appear on the website, even though it is in service. Schedule a Pick Up Track Your Bus! Transit On-Demand Transit On-Demand is a point-to-point van service which works to help ensure safe travel around campus and adjacent areas. It also operates in conjunction with the bus system to connect you with bus routes for travel away from campus. Schedule a ride by using the TransLōc® app. For scheduling issues, call 252-328-7433 and speak with a dispatcher for assistance. Please note: dispatchers cannot schedule rides which duplicate currently operating bus service. An ECU 1 Card is required (two guests per valid ID). How to Ride Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 12:00am Saturday & Sunday: 12:00pm – 12:00am Download the TransLōc® App. The app gives the user the ability to: • Schedule rides • Cancel rides • Track assigned vehicle Note: dispatchers cannot schedule or approve trips that would duplicate a bus route that is currently in service. Service Area Vans operate to service areas around main campus, Health Sciences Campus and other outlying ECU properties. Trips to and from residential areas and shopping locations may be granted within a mile of our shaded service area locations. Off-Campus Routes Dedicated Service Schedule Service for this route is dedicated throughout the day and does not normally combine with any other 402 • Brown every route.
