WELCOME EQ CHAIR’S WELCOME On behalf of Equestrian Queensland, it’s a pleasure to welcome you to the 2021 Hygain Interschool State Championships. A massive thank you to our sponsors, the Interschool Queensland committee, the organising committee and the many volunteers who will put up their hand to help out during the event. To run such a successful event takes a contribution from many, most of whom will work quietly behind the scenes for the love of the sport – thank you! On behalf of the team at Equestrian Queensland I wish everyone a fun, safe and enjoyable experience throughout the competition. I wish to acknowledge the work of the Interschool Queensland committee and the organising committee for their diligence and commitment to make the State Championships such a positive and memorable event. For me this is my 10th year with children riding and I've seen so much change and growth amongst this sport and the children who've come through. This year we welcome and thank HYGAIN as our major sponsor. I'd also like to thank our IQ committee without them this wouldn't of been possible, your time, patience and commitment is appreciated. Our 2021 year was bigger and busier than ever, with competitions filling up as soon as they opened, it was good to see the kids out there in full swing again. HYGAIN IQ STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021 This event is being conducted under the rules as per the 2021 IQ Handbook and the EA and FEI Rules where applicable. It is your responsibility to read the 2021 IQ Handbook. During the planning and organisation of this event, all due care will be taken to ensure the safest possible conditions exist for the riders and horses. However, it is the responsibility of each competitor to comply with safety standards set down in the competition rules. The organising committee for this event will endeavour to see these standards are complied with. Neither the organising committee, Interschool Queensland, Equestrian Australia, Equestrian Queensland, Maryborough Showgrounds accepts any liability for any accident, damage, injury, illness to riders, spectators, horses, grounds or any other persons or property whatsoever in consideration of entries being accepted. No entries will be accepted unless riders and parents have signed the Acknowledgment and Indemnity waiver. Compulsory Team Coordinator Meetings - IQ Onsight Office Please note that each evening there will be a compulsory Team Coordinators’ meeting to provide competitors with important information about the next day’s competition. We ask each school to provide one representative to attend these meetings. At the introductory meeting on Sunday night we will ask for their name and contact details to be provided. Photos in which your child/children appear may be submitted to EQ, partners and stakeholders who may also use these images for the purpose of promoting their association with EQ. Helper Jobs We will post the completed ‘Sign-Up’ roster at the venue and the ‘Sign Up’ App will send out automatic reminders so ensure you check your emails. It is the responsibility of each rider and their helper to ensure that they check the ‘Sign-Up’ roster and complete their nominated tasks or find an appropriate substitute person to do so. Helper Sign In Procedure at Event Helpers must register at the checkin area (outside canteen) 15 mins prior to the start of their allocated job. FAILURE TO DO HELPER JOB If the helper fails to arrive for duty as per the roster, the rider’s name will be forwarded to the IQ State Committee on the day of the competition and the rider will be ineligible for placings or points for that competition. The rider will NOT be eligible for prizes at the State Championships and will be automatically considered as riding HC for the event. This will mean the rider will also be ineligible for the 2021 Queensland Team. In addition, the IQ Committee will notify the rider’s school. Please do not put the committee or your child in this situation. If you need to scratch from the Event you MUST try to find a replacement for your job and inform the IQ Events Secretary with who your replacement is. State Championship Perpetual Trophies These perpetual trophies will be presented at the completion of the presenta- tion on the final day of the State Championships for that particular year. The Primary Division Overall Champion Rider and the Secondary Division Overall Champion Rider will also have their trophies presented at the EQ Annual Awards Evening. The Rita and Derek Dobson Trophy This trophy is awarded to the secondary school whose riders achieve the highest average score (total points gained divided by number of starting rid- ers) over all disciplines at State Championships. To be eligible for this tro- phy, a school must have a minimum of 2 riders from the school competing. The Lorette Wigan Cup Donated by the Equestrian Federation of Australia (Qld Branch), this trophy is awarded to the secondary school with the best aggregate result achieved at the State Championships. It is awarded on a points basis with riders ac- cruing points for their school through their placings in each discipline during the State Championships. The Brett Family Perpetual Trophy This trophy, donated by the Brett Family, is awarded to the Secondary Divi- sion Overall Champion Rider. This is determined as the rider who has achieved the best overall result as an individual for his/her school using the same horse across all secondary disciplines. It is awarded on a points basis with the rider accruing points for placings in secondary classes. The QISEA Primary School Trophy This trophy is awarded to the primary school whose riders achieve the high- est average score (total points gained divided by number of starting riders) over the six disciplines at State Championship level. To be eligible for this trophy, a school must have a minimum of 2 riders from the school compet- ing. The Harry LeBherz Perpetual Trophy Donated by Harry LeBherz, this trophy is awarded to the primary school with the best aggregate result achieved at the State Championships. It is award- ed on a points basis with riders accruing points for their school through their placings in each discipline during the State Championships. The Kimberley Banks Perpetual Trophy This trophy donated by the Banks Family is awarded to the Primary Division Overall Champion Rider. This is determined as the rider who has achieved the best overall result as an individual for his/her school using the same horse across all primary disciplines. It is awarded on a points basis with the rider accruing points for placings in primary classes. Page 18/24
The Summers/McDougall School Trophy The Summers McDougall School Trophy is an award that builds the spirit of the interschool association. Both emerging and established schools can be considered for this award despite the number of riders attending events. Each Regional committee is asked to submit in writing the school who they consider to be eligible for this award to the State Committee prior to the an- nual State Championships. The criteria for this award will include the follow- ing- • Spirit and Presentation • Teamwork /competing in multi discipline • Hosting Interschool Competitions The final selection will be made by nominated officials at the event ie TD, Stewards QISEA Freestyle Artistic Award Inaugurated in July 2018 this revived QISEA trophy is awarded to the free- style rider who achieves the highest points score in their artistic element. It can be awarded to a rider in any class of the freestyle competition at the State Championships. Moreton Bay College School Award This trophy is awarded to the Primary rider who receives the highest per- centage score from any one judge in any dressage class at the State Cham- pionships. The Sailor Trophy This trophy is awarded to the rider who achieves the closest to optimum time on the Cross- Country element of the Eventing Discipline. Page 19/24

IQ EQUESTRIAN SKILLS PROGRAM EOI's are being sought from school based Queensland riders that wish to participate in the IQ Equestrian Skills Program. We have included some information below about the program. What is Equestrian Skills? EA and EQ, as part of its member education services, has provided school based riders with access to their Introductory Riding and Introductory Horse Management workbooks at a discounted prices for use in the Equestrian Skills Program. Why participate? Maybe you aspire to work within the horse industry when you finish school or maybe you just want to increase your equine knowledge base. In all cases successful completion of modules are registered with the EA Coaching Pathway Officer as they form part of the pathway to becoming an accredited EA Coach. Who is eligible to participate? The minimum age for the EA national education courses is fixed at; 12 years for Intro Horse Management & Intro Riding 15 Years for Level 1 Horse Management & Level 1 Riding 18 years for Coaching Assessments will be carried out by a Coach Educators (CE) or Skill Specific Training Assessors (SSTAs). IQ and EQ will be facilitating subsidised sessions at regional and state IQ events to enable participants to access a CE or SSTA for feedback or the 'signing off' of modules. Riders can progress toward becoming an Introductory EA Coach with the purchase of the appropriate resources. Once the Introductory Horse Management and Introductory Riding modules have been completed, the Level I Horse Management and Riding modules provide another opportunity for further study. The purchase of the first two introductory workbooks is $79 in total (inc postage). There will be a subsidised fee to be paid to access the assessment sessions at IQ regional and state events. Other forms of support will also be available to participants outside of these events. As this initiative is very new, we will be accepting a limited amount of participants for 2021/2022 with the expectation that the program will be expanded the following year. For this intake, preference will be given to this year's grade 11 riders. Introducing Equestrian Queensland’s Next Generation (Next Gen) Advisory Group The Next Gen has been established to act as a source of advice to the EQ Board about opportunities to engage, connect and support young people in equestrian sport. The EQ Next Gen consists of the following members; • Chris Holland • Daisy Fielding • Georgia Thurgate • Grace Beatty • Lucy Peacey • Lydia Forde • Olivia Farrell • Olivia Middleton • Talia Criss • Sara-Jane Seery (mentor) Next Gen - Objectives • Support the EQ Board and EQ Sport committees to engage with youth members and deliver initiatives that encourage continued participation across all areas of the sport. • Improve and develop communication with youth members and sport committees at all levels. • Identify mentoring opportunities for youth members across all competition and discipline levels. • Develop networks and resources for youth members to support multiple pathways across the sport.
