General Information Registration is open to any affiliated, paid member. Each student must be registered for ANY STAR Event for which they will participate. Students may only enter in ONE event, in the category that matches their affiliation and grade status. See Categories section for more information. Chapter advisers, parents, alumni, local administrators, teacher educators or others are eligible to attend as chaperones and judges. Page 5 – updated July 2020
Chaperone Ratio A ratio of one adult for every 10 members is recommended. In the event your county has a different chaperone policy, your district’s policy should be followed. When attending Georgia FCCLA conferences and events, advisers are expected to provide adequate supervision for his/her students. All chaperones must follow the Georgia FCCLA code of conduct. Registration Refunds No registration refunds will be processed after the regular registration deadline. Payments Payment Postmark Deadline: February 2 Checks Checks can be made out to Georgia FCCLA and mailed to P.O. Box 840, Bogart, GA 30622. Credit Card Payments Please email gafccla@gmail.com if you wish to make a credit card payment. Partial credit card payments will not be accepted. Credit card policy: A 3% credit card processing fee will be added to all credit card invoices. NO on-site payments will be accepted. Members should always be respectful to administrators, exhibitors, parents, advisers and other members. Advisers will ensure that students look professional and in appropriate attire at all times. Students in inappropriate clothes will be asked to change clothes before returning to the meeting. NOTE: This new dress code for Region STAR Events was approved by the Georgia FCCLA Board of Directors. All STAR Event competitors must adhere to the approved dress code to ensure there are no point deductions for professional dress. Page 6 – updated July 2020

If leggings are worn, shorts/skirt/dress must be an appropriate length over the leggings. • Clothing which is stained, torn or ripped. • Bare feet Page 7 – updated July 2020
FCCLA Code of Conduct FCCLA members and advisers should follow the following guidelines while attending a Georgia FCCLA sponsored event: 1. Behavior at all times should be such that it reflects a positive, professional image of you, your chapter, your state and the organization. 2. Delegates shall keep their adult advisers informed of their activities and whereabouts at all times. 3. Local advisers will be responsible for their delegates’ conduct. 4. Delegates will attend all general sessions, workshops and activities. 5. Delegates will be prompt and prepared for all activities. 6. Identification badges will be worn at all times except when outside the hotel or meeting area. 7. The dress code will be enforced at all times. (The Dress Code is listed in the Adviser Guide.) 8. Any accidents, injuries or illnesses should be reported to the adult chaperone or state adviser immediately. 9. All delegates will observe the curfew set by the State/National Office. 10. Delegates will spend the night at the assigned hotel and in their assigned room. They will be quiet at curfew. 11. Delegates are not permitted in sleeping rooms with members of the opposite sex, unless accompanied by an official chaperone. 12. Inappropriate physical conduct is not allowed and will be subject to disciplinary action. 13. No student shall leave the hotel unless accompanied by his/her adviser or chaperone. 14. If a student is found responsible for stealing or vandalism, the student and his/her parents/guardians will be expected to pay all damages. 15. Delegates attending the FCCLA Conference may not purchase, possess, consumer or be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs at any time. Violators will be subject to disciplinary action. 16. Smoking, vaping, or the possession of tobacco, is not allowed. 17. Delegates violating or ignoring any of the conduct rules will subject their entire chapter delegation to being unseated and their candidates or competitive events contestants (if applicable) being disqualified. Individual delegates who disregard the rules will be subject to disciplinary action and be sent home at their own expense. In the case of student delegates, parents/guardians will be notified. Multiple Release Forms All members must have a completed Multiple Release Form. These forms will not be collected. Advisers will keep copies of the forms with them in case of emergency. Lyons, Ga. 30436 Special Accommodations For members that require special accommodations, complete the special needs portion in the registration system. Example reasons that students may need special accommodations would include wheelchair access or interpreter services or specific services listed on the student’s IEP. Accommodations cannot be accommodated on-site – they must be provided to the Region Adviser ahead of time. STAR Events Guidelines The national STAR Events guidelines will be followed for all competitions, with the following exception: • No online orientations will take place at the region or state level – only at the national level; therefore, there will be a required, on-site orientation at the region and state level STAR Events guidelines are available to advisers of paid, affiliated chapters. Guidelines can be found by logging into the FCCLA portal (affiliation system), clicking on the Resources tab, then the Competitive Events link. Note: If the Resources tab does not show up on the computer screen, click on the down arrow on the right side of the screen to show more tab options. STAR Events Categories An event category is determined by the participant’s current or previous enrollment in Family and Consumer Sciences coursework. Event categories are defined as: • Level 1 – Grades 5-8 • Level 2 – Grades 9-10 • Level 3 – Grades 11-12 Special notes: • Mixed teams are allowed – participants should be placed in the level of the oldest team member (Ex: If a 9th grade member is working with an 11th grade member, they should be placed in Level 3) • Some events have additional eligibility requirements based around courses of study/classes taken. State Events Georgia FCCLA is pleased to offer state competitions. These are separate from STAR Events competitions. The registration for these State Events is a part of the State Leadership Conference system and not the Region system. Judges Needed To make this event a success, we need approximately 85 judges. Each school needs to provide one judge for every three participants. See below for a chart. Process to return scoresheets: Scoresheets will be emailed to the adviser Tuesday after the region competition. The email will come from therese.standard@toombs.k12.ga.us The top two individuals/teams from each event category will be eligible for state competitions, providing the score is in the silver or gold rating. The list of competitors advancing to state competition will be available on the state website by the Tuesday following the region competitions. Page 12 – updated July 2020
Frequently Asked Questions Q: How many STAR Events entries can we have per chapter? A: One entry per category per chapter per event. Q: I have a member who backed out after the deadline, what can I do? A: You can substitute another member through the system or contact the region adviser to drop the student. No refunds will be given after the registration deadline. Events may not be changed after the deadline. Q: Can my student compete in more than one event? A: Students may compete in only one STAR event. The three Online STAR Events – Chapter Website, Digital Stories for Change, and Instructional Video Design – are considered STAR events. Q: What should I wear for my presentation? A: See the event guidelines to see if a costume is allowed. Otherwise, the dress code approved by the Georgia FCCLA Board of Directors must be followed. Q: Can my students wear costumes in their STAR Event? A: See individual event guidelines. Q: My student has another commitment (band competition, basketball tournament, etc.), can they compete at an earlier/later time? A: Competition times are randomly assigned, so exceptions can’t be guaranteed. Competitions should be taken seriously and considered a priority. Page 13 – updated July 2020

Students found to be in violation of any laws, regulations or policies established for the FCCLA event they are attending will be subject to disciplinary action and prosecution. Their parents or guardians and school officials will be notified and must remove the student from the event. Dress is to reflect the FCCLA image and to follow guidelines for specific events. The FCCLA Code of Conduct and Dress Code is available online at www.gafccla.com. Reading and understanding completely the policies, practices, and procedures that will serve to govern the conduct and attire of persons attending an FCCLA event, I do hereby agree to follow said policies, procedures, and practices and abide by any consequences of any violations. 12 13 . 2021 Region STAR Events Registration Tutorial 1. Go to the registration link. 2. Click REGISTRATION, then enter your chapter number and password from the affiliation system. (From when your chapter was affiliated with the National FCCLA website.) 3. Once you click enter, you’ll see a registration page for you, the chapter adviser: Make sure you enter cell phone number and any special dietary needs of your conference attendees. Please double check all other information to make sure it is correct. Click SAVE. Page 15 – updated July 2020
4. You’ll be taken to a screen that looks like below. Add Students, by clicking the “Add Student” button. 5. Click SEARCH to list all affiliated members. Or you can search for individual names. ONLY those names of affiliated (affiliated through the online registration system AND paid) members will appear. 6. You’ll be taken to a screen that looks like this: Select the participant type (not attending or attending), grade level, then Competition Level (junior, senior or occupational). 7. Click submit. 8. You’ll be taken to a screen that looks like this: Double check the information regarding the student. Add any special needs for the student in this area. Click NEXT. 9. The next area for the student will be Items. This is where meals can be added for the student, if applicable for your region. Once all the items have been selected for the student, click NEXT. 10. Click Finish Participant. The next registered student will automatically appear. The “registration wizard” will take you through each of the same steps. 12. After finishing the student registration, you’ll be taken back to the screen that looks like this: 13. Click on the ADD OTHER NAME to add chaperones, alumni, parents or CTAE personnel. 14. You’ll be taken to a screen that looks like this: 15. Enter in the name of the judge, then select Judge Registration 16. Check that they will volunteer (serve as a judge or room consultant) and click Next. 17. The system will take you through the same “registration wizard” for adults. 19. Click VIEW REGISTRATION to make sure all entries have been completed correctly. 20. Read the acknowledgement and click the box next to the “I agree to the above statements”, then click FINISHED REGISTERING. 21. You’ll receive an e-mail confirming the registration. Reminders: • You may log back into the system and make any corrections leading up to the registration deadline.
