Radiant Montessori School March 2021 Center News Spring Conferences Reminder, we will be closed to all students on Monday, April 5th for parent/teacher conferences. Fundraiser Totals We are super excited to announce that we had the best Butter Braid sales so far and were able to fundraise over $2,400 for summer activities! We can’t wait for some of our favorite summer activities like the bubble party and ice cream truck visits, and we are hoping to be able to find some new activities to try as well! Thank you all so much for helping us be able to provide so many fun activities for our students this summer. New Cubby Storage and Organization Methods for Preschool We have heard from many of our parents that while they love the ease of the current drop off and pick up procedures, the one downside is not being able to see what your child has in their cubby. We have made the decision to switch from cubby bins to backpacks for all of our preschool students. This way, you will be able to keep track of everything they have at school on a regular basis without having to remember what you sent to school and what has come home. This will also help us keep our cubby closets more organized since a lot of random items and papers get left in cubby bins and they get cluttered very quickly. By Monday, May 3rd, please send your preschool child to school with a full size backpack (one that can fit a standard size paper folder, one or two extra sets of clothes, nap items, and anything else that your child may bring to and from school). We will send home all of your child’s cubby items in their backpack along with a “take home folder” that should stay in your child’s backpack. This folder will contain all the papers and projects your child completes at school. Please be sure to check it often and take out all the papers. While we are only implementing this change for preschoolers right now, parents of transition and toddler students are welcome to partake in this change as well! We feel that since the infant, transition, and toddler students are dropped off at their classroom with their teachers and they don’t tend to bring as many items to and from school, it is easier for them to keep up with what is in their cubby. Show-and-Tell Items Lastly, we are asking that all preschool show-and-tell items that are brought to school fit in your child’s backpack. We have very limited space to keep those items during the day and the big items often get bumped or knocked over and we don’t want anything to break or for any pieces to get lost. If your child would like to share a large item for show-and-tell, we suggest bringing a picture of the item or one of the pieces from the item (for example a piece of furniture from a doll house).
Radiant Montessori School March 2021 Children’s House One The month of March was full of so many fun experiences! We studied the landmarks and countries of Europe, celebrated St. Patrick's Day, and focused on reading all kinds of fun stories. We also explored the water cycle and our students started to make a connection about all the cycles we have discussed so far this year - life cycles, food chains, seasons, and even days of the week. So many things go in cycles, and their sudden recognition of that is such a milestone! We made a terrarium and spent some time watching the clouds form and water condense. They were so amazed by the tiny version of our real world. It made the presentation about the types of clouds even more interesting and engaging. Lastly, we learned more about our earth: the layers of the earth, the continental plates, and volcanoes, mountains, and earthquakes. We even created our own personal volcanoes and watched them erupt! We will continue our study of science in April with lessons on gardening and parts of plants. I am even hoping to grow some beans and peas in our classroom so we can harvest and eat them when grow. We will be learning about the countries that make up Africa and the variety of cultures and natural places that exist there. We will be painting animals, building pyramids from sugar cubes, and listening to music. We have finally covered every letter in the alphabet for Show-and-Tell! The kids have earned the opportunity to bring anything they like for the next month. I will definitely be asking them to identify the beginning letter sound for whatever they bring, so we can continue reviewing each week. I’m looking forward to seeing their favorite things as they bring them in! Thank you for your amazing parenting skills and support for our classroom, - Ms. Sarah, Mr. CS, and Ms. Michelle
Radiant Montessori School March 2021 Children’s House Two The month of March has been a busy month in our classroom! The children continued to explore and experience other cultures and customs such as those in Ireland and Italy and worked very hard on projects and activities that were planned for the themes. The children have also been busy learning about seasons and beginning of a new season over the past few weeks – yay, spring has sprung! The month of April is here and we will be celebrating Easter with dying eggs, doing Easter art and crafts, and going on an Easter egg hunt. The learning doesn’t stop there as we will be studying all things earth: the importance of taking care of it, Earth Day, global warming, recycling, farming, rocks and fossils, insects (including life cycles of butterflies), types of clouds, and Arbor Day, along with learning about the life cycle and parts of a tree. We will also be exploring the continent of Africa and the countries found within it. We will continue to build on all lessons mentioned above but also improve and enhance the children’s skills and ability to read and write (both letters and numbers), perform operations, and continue lessons on grace and courtesy. Our goal will be to focus on our feelings – how to identify and express them appropriately. Maria Montessori said “It is true that we cannot make a genius. We can only give to the child the chance to fulfill his potential possibilities.” Remember, every child is unique and develops different skills and abilities at their own pace in their own time. We have had great fun getting to know each other. We have a very busy class of “worker bees” eager to learn more. Please feel free to speak with me if you have any questions or concerns. Stay healthy & safe! Many thanks for your support & trust! - Ms. Bawani, Ms. Allie, & Ms. Regina
Radiant Montessori School March 2021 Children’s House Three Happy Spring Casa 3 Crew! This month we will welcome April by learning about all things spring! We will be exploring gardening by doing our own planting in the classroom as well as bringing back our flower arrangement activity. Please look to ClassDojo for a chance to sign up to bring flowers for the kiddos to arrange. We will also be exploring the life cycle and parts of a tree and bean plant. Lastly, we will be learning about Earth Day, recycling, and the importance of taking care of our planet. Our continent this month is Africa! We will be going an African Safari in Kenya to see all of the animals that live in Africa as well as explore African music by creating our own drums! We will be learning the tradition of the colorful African fabrics and be creating our own as well! We will also be learning about the Great Pyramids in Egypt and see Victoria Falls in Southern Africa! This month, Casa 3 will be practicing how to help or comfort a friend who is in need; we will do group activities and read stories on how we can do that to be better helpers in our community. Reminders: We will be sending snow gear home soon and are transitioning to warmer weather – please send your kiddo with a light jacket for outside on those windy days as well as outside tennis shoes! Thanks! Paige, Dez and Tahnee
Radiant Montessori School March 2021 Toddler Room Hello Toddler Families, We cannot believe how fast the month of March flew by! We wanted to send a quick reminder that as weather is warming up, please provide your child with weather appropriate clothing. In the month of March we had so much fun learning and reading about Dr. Seuss, learning about transportation, and having a lucky leprechaun visit our classroom. Within the month of March, we also had fun creating many fun crafts and displaying them throughout our classroom. In the month of April, we will be learning about all things spring. We also will be learning about the color green, the shape of an oval, the number 8, and the letters X, Y, and Z. This month in the Toddler room we have two special birthday celebrations! Both Ms. Alyssa and our friend Claire have an upcoming birthday on April 27th. We cannot wait to celebrate them! Lastly, as all of you have heard by now, Ms. Amanda will be starting a new chapter. Her last day at Radiant will be April 27th. We are so sad to see her leave but are very excited for her new journey. As a reminder, we really appreciate when you are wearing your mask at the door to stop the spread of any germs/viruses – thank you for your understanding! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns! Ms. Amanda: amandac@radiant-montessori.com Ms. Alyssa: alyssa@radiant-montessori.com
Radiant Montessori School March 2021 Transition Room Happy April! The weather is finally getting warmer and the Transition room children have been enjoying all of their time outside! With the weather getting warmer we have been able to observe cars and trucks outside which is perfect for this past month's theme of modes of transportation. We have been learning about cars, trains, planes, and construction vehicles. Some of our favorite activities have been the truck versus car races and an airplane scavenger hunt. In addition to all of the fun we had with transportation vehicles, we have also been focusing on our Montessori lessons. We recently introduced a new lesson which includes a large bolt and nut – this lesson will help to teach children how to screw or unscrew items such as bottles. We have also been enjoying a coin slot lesson which consists of a container with a slot cut in the top where children insert milk caps. This is such a simple lesson but the children can work on it for multiple minutes at a time! This upcoming month is all about spring! We will be learning about flowers, bugs, Easter, and what happens in spring. Some activities we have planned are planting flowers, observing bugs, and Easter egg explosions! As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email me at abby@radiant-montessori.com. Thank you and we hope you have a great rest of your day! Miss Abby, Miss Olivia, Miss Sofie
Radiant Montessori School March 2021 Infant Room Hello Infant families and welcome to April! In March, we enjoyed getting outside and going for walks as well as working on our sign language. It's been wonderful seeing some of the babies already using sign language daily. We will continue to emphasize sign language this month. As I'm sure most of you saw, Ms. Shyla has returned to Radiant and we are excited to have her back! Welcome back, Ms. Shyla A few milestones happened in March that we were excited to celebrate: Remi, Rowena, and Carter have been standing without assistance and Leo has begun sitting up on his own. Looking forward to April, we are excited to celebrate Isla and Rowena’s first birthdays in April. Additionally, Mack, Grant, and Rowena will all be moving up to the Transition room on April 19th. Ms. Sofie will also be returning to Transition at that time. As usual, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, comments or concerns via Procare or email at husna@radiant-montessori.com. - Ms. Husna, Ms. Shyla & Ms. Sofie
