QEII Enrichment Week 2019 Information for Students and Parents Introduction This year’s Enrichment activities will take place from Tuesday 16th to Thursday 18th July 2019. On Tuesday 16th each year group will take part in their own Year activity. While on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th July students in Years 7-10 and Year 12 will be able to participate in an activity of their choice over two days. The range of activities available is as ambitious and varied as last year so please read each activity description carefully before making your choices. You will see that many activities are free, however, there are also some that have a financial cost. The activities booklet and a booking form can be found on the school website https://qe2.sch.im and on itslearning. A limited number of hard copies will also be available to look at in Reception for those people who do not have internet access at home. Choosing and booking your two day activity (Wednesday and Thursday) It is important that parents and students read the online activity booklet together. Students should make a first choice and two reserve choices for an activity that is enjoyable, challenging and affordable for them. After you have decided your first choice and reserve choice activities, you should fill in the booking form and return it to your tutor no later than Thursday 28th February 2019. DO NOT BRING IN ANY MONEY AT THIS STAGE! Once we have received your booking form we will confirm if you have been of- fered a place. You will then need to send in a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit to secure your place by Friday 29th March 2019. The amount you should pay will depend on your activity and will be indicated in your confirmation letter.
QEII Enrichment Week 2019 Please do not choose to do an activity just because your friends want to do it. Choose an activity because YOU want to do it. Meeting new people and making new friends is a key element of the Enrichment activities. Remember that friendship groups do change over time and also that if an activity is over subscribed names will be drawn out of a hat, so there is no guarantee that you will be with friends. Places on activities will not be arranged on a “first come, first served basis”. All of the forms will be processed. In cases where students are not offered their first choice or either of their reserve choices, they will be offered an alternative activity after a personal discussion. Please note that the school reserves the right to refuse applications for off Island trips and off site activities for students where behaviour in school has previously been a cause for concern. Deadline Dates It is vital that deadlines are kept by both students and parents in order to help the smooth running of the programme. Should a situation arise where a deadline cannot be met, parents should contact the school as soon as possible to discuss the issue. Thursday 28th February 2019: Deadline for booking forms to be returned to Tutor Friday 29th March 2019: Deadline for deposit/first payment to be paid Friday 3rd May 2019: Deadline for final balance to be paid If you have any queries about Enrichment activities please do not hesitate to contact Mr Barker (Enrichment Activities Co-ordinator) on 841000.

QEII Enrichment Week 2019 Health and Safety Now, more than ever before, we are extremely aware of the potential hazards involved with adventure activities. It can sometimes be difficult, almost impossible, to create an opportunity for adventure whilst totally eliminating all risks. The staff involved in organising the activities have paid great attention to health and safety. Where activities take place in a potentially hazardous environment, tuition and supervision by properly qualified instructors has been arranged. In situations where teachers at the school possess appropriate qualifications, their expertise is being fully employed. Every activity included in our Enrichment programme has been examined for health and safety and adequate staff/student ratios. As a result we can confidently offer a wide range of activities, which are within the Department of Education, Sport and Culture’s strict safety guidelines. If you have any queries about any of the activities in this booklet, please do not hesitate to contact the school to discuss the matter with Mr Barker (our Educational Visits Co-ordinator) who has oversight of all risk assessments.
