Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs # OTHER (PLEASE SPECIFY) DATE 1 Bike paths, signage, racks 1/21/2021 12:32 PM 2 Not one of these suggestions seems necessary. For climate change? Really? Solar 1/18/2021 2:31 PM installations would obstruct the view or make buildings look unappealing; where exactly would food be grown within the city limits and ensure it would be eaten; mass transportation.....what?.....busses, yeah that'd be good....parking and traffic is always an issue during peak times and you want mass transportation coming to town? Nope. 3 Close Main Street to motorized vehicle traffic from State Rd to ? At lease from Memorial day 1/15/2021 9:26 AM through Labor Day. Offer free shuttle from area parking lots 4 Climate has changed constantly and predictably since the earth was formed. If it weren't for 1/14/2021 10:36 AM climate change millions of years ago we wouldn't be talking about Little Traverse Bay because it wouldn't exist. I believe that we as citizens of the earth do what we can to be responsible to the environment and that the City, no matter what they think, cannot mitigate or impact climate change. If, however, we wanted to do something to protect the natural resources of Harbor Springs we should look at ways to mitigate bluff erosion. 5 no mandates. guidelines 1/12/2021 4:40 PM 6 Plant more trees, especially in city owned parking lots and other areas with hard surfaces, to 1/11/2021 2:49 PM mitigate surface heat and to help filter and clean the air 7 Add separate recycling receptacles at all beaches and parks. Electric cars are multiplying and 1/10/2021 4:35 PM another charging station should be added at city hall. The new charging station at the harbormaster lot is a big plus, thank you! 8 Eliminate light pollution on main street. The main street lights are too bright and there are too 1/10/2021 9:30 AM many. 9 Eliminate deer park 1/10/2021 8:44 AM 10 Leave well enough alone! 1/5/2021 6:44 PM 11 Make recycling easer and more efficient. Regular trash pick up via City not private entity 1/5/2021 10:02 AM 12 I do not believe it would be cost effective for our footprint. 1/4/2021 10:08 PM 13 Discontinue the use of "black-top" - look into surfacing that does not hold heat from baking 1/3/2021 12:22 PM sun. Plant additional large canopy trees. Stop the use of leaf blowers (research the cost on nature/bordering neighbors from constant/obsessive use of these machines by commercial business please.) 14 This is not the role of the City. These should be addressed on a federal and state level with 12/28/2020 10:29 AM support from the city. 15 environment is being destroyed to build huge, greedy/wasteful houses we waste a lot of water 12/27/2020 11:18 AM dripping faucets in winter could this be avoided by properly burying city pipes? 16 Support efforts by garden clubs and Master Gardeners 12/26/2020 4:34 PM 17 Winters are too cold and long to provide realistic “green” energy. Please continue to be good 12/23/2020 11:11 PM custodians of the environment as best you can while not enacting policies that are prohibitively expensive. 18 Solar panels and other energy projects can create EYE sores if not managed properly. DO 12/23/2020 2:11 PM NOT let the utility companies take total control. 19 What is this ‘climate change’. Are you talking bluff erosion or religion? 12/23/2020 12:34 PM 20 Climate change is an existential threat. Any and all opportunities should be researched and 12/23/2020 10:23 AM pursued. 21 No changes are necessary 12/22/2020 6:29 PM 22 Slow the traffic down on M 119 and enforce it. From above the hill down through Main Street is 12/9/2020 2:10 PM a racetrack especially at quitting time (4-5pm) and is never enforced. 23 Have workers turn off idling trucks when standing around looking into holes. They sure drive 11/11/2020 9:59 AM 6 / 18
Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs around a lot all day and burn a lot of fuel which costs money also. 24 If the goal is to mitigate climate change then solar on an unseen building should be a goal. 11/11/2020 9:44 AM Just because the DPW building is out of sight does not mean that solar is not important there. In other words, the city should walk the walk and not worry about visibility. 25 Definatley do not pursue solar installations because ,at this time it is not economically 11/11/2020 9:20 AM feasable on a medium or large scale. Although politically and enviormentally correct it is something that we should monitor in other like size municipalities. 26 Some way to encourage businesses / individuals to get on board and be active about climate 10/15/2020 9:52 AM change. Perhaps follow a similar model of Petoskey chamber "conscious" businesses. Green roofing. Include Odawa in planning. Use historical society to show "before" and "after" and what development can do to an environment/place. 27 Reduce the need for transportation by encouraging both residential and commercial 10/1/2020 3:50 PM development closely coupled within the city. 28 Provide facilities to support small vessels such as kayaks, paddleboards, and small sailboats 9/21/2020 8:19 PM (less support for power boats). Discourage single use plastics, especially where they could end up in the bay/harbor. Regulate/limit use of leaf blowers, mowers, and other small gas engines. 29 Allow denser housing in the city and surrounding area that would allow those who work in the 9/20/2020 10:47 PM city to have affordable options to live closer. 30 You can’t 9/16/2020 2:57 PM 31 Deal with rising lake levels at City waterfront 9/16/2020 11:55 AM 32 W 9/14/2020 6:54 PM 33 dark sky street lights, Remove all overhead utility poles and wires and bury them to improve 9/14/2020 1:43 PM tree growth and lessen storm outages. 34 No commercial expansion on the lakefront. 9/12/2020 5:38 PM 35 Bay Street enjoys no power lines in their views. Why shouldn’t Main Street have underground 9/11/2020 9:38 PM utilities since this route is the primary visual drive of our city. 36 N/a 9/10/2020 11:07 AM 37 During the 4th of July week and street music nights. Close off either Bay Street or Main street 9/10/2020 10:42 AM to car traffic. If cars could park up by Bay Bluffs and take a shuttle to town or walk the town would be more pedestrian friendly and parking in town would not be a problem. Building heights on the water are unacceptable. The zoning master plan was violated with Irish's new building. The Glenn Drive public beach is hidden from the public and hard to find unless you are a local. There is basically no parking on Glenn drive. On this survey you need more room for comments under the proper category. 38 You can encourage the private sector to, however, conserve our tax dollars for those things 9/10/2020 10:09 AM that are your core responsibilities. 39 Limit growth and sprawl 9/10/2020 8:37 AM 40 Retrofit outdoor lighting so that it is beautiful, energy efficient and night-sky compliant. Harsh 9/9/2020 5:47 PM blue white LED does not create the right mood for such a beautiful place at night, so the mood of the lighting should also be considered. 41 Take the fluoride out of the city water. It’s poison 9/9/2020 2:40 PM 42 Geese waste management is part of climate change. The geese require management and 9/9/2020 10:24 AM should be part of the HS natural resources planning. 43 None 9/8/2020 8:44 PM 44 I would need to understand what the specific choices would entail and cost. For example, solar 9/8/2020 12:14 PM is a popular idea however does it work for Northern Michigan? Cost to the taxpayers need to be top of mind. We have to make sure we utilize our existing natural resources like natural gas efficiently. I would want to know details including cost to the taxpayers before I can check boxes on the survey. 7 / 18
Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs 45 Limit car use and parking to encourage more biking and walking downtown. 9/8/2020 7:24 AM 46 None of the above 9/7/2020 9:49 AM 47 Encourage the use of rain sensors to avoid irrigating when not necessary. Start with the CITY 9/6/2020 8:45 PM and SCHOOLS 48 Harbor Springs impact on climate change is minuscule. Green projects cost big dollars with 9/3/2020 5:07 PM little ROI. Save tax dollars and wait until bigger and greener innovations are developed and offered. 49 Encourage voluntary trash / recycling days. Participants could get some sort of incentive. 9/3/2020 3:06 PM 50 Noise control ordinances...To monitor lawn maintenance services and businesses, and (MOST 9/2/2020 10:08 PM disturbing) the motor cycles. The influx of motor cycles and their NOISE is obnoxious and needs to be addressed and dealt with!!!!!!!!! 51 Rain gardens! 9/2/2020 2:25 PM 52 Do not worry about climate change. 9/1/2020 6:15 PM 53 in responce to question two, i feel the nature trails and preserves within HS along with Kiwanis 9/1/2020 11:54 AM park would be used more frequently if they were maintained better and offered more services 54 we have great parks, with those come a responsibility of land stewardship whether its a beach 9/1/2020 9:14 AM or a forest- as a city we need to manage these landscapes with care and foresite. A forester or landscape ecologist shouls be consulted from time to time to make sure the city is well informed about invasive species, pests, or best management practices and the overall sensitivity of particular landscapes. We also need to manage the garbage in our waterfront parks in a better way- probably through education and public outreach about how bad micro plastics are, what they are and how they enter our forests and especially lakes. 55 Invest in and support public outreach, education, and celebration focused on the environmental 9/1/2020 12:27 AM assets and challenges of Harbor Springs. 56 Climate change is mainly political BS 8/31/2020 5:38 PM 57 Encourage tree planting and energy savings. 8/31/2020 5:16 PM 8 / 18

Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs # OTHER (PLEASE SPECIFY) DATE 1 Remove the 12 wires extending between telephone poles along West Bluff. Remove the old 1/21/2021 4:36 PM and ugly lighting between Sargent Street and State Street. Put in more aesthetic lighting in this area. The electric and cable can be placed underground, preferably along the right-of-way, next to the road. Also replace broken sidewalks PLEASE. 2 1. Establish minimum standards for yards, e.g. keep grass trimmed, etc. 2. Use plantings, 1/21/2021 12:32 PM esp. trees, that don't create high maintence. 3 We have a number of regulations telling us what we cannot do. For example, above the bluff I 1/19/2021 12:36 PM wanted to build a garage with an apartment above it and was told no. People below the bluff are able to do this. Thats not right. 4 What is wrong with the way it is? It's already quaint and charming and has been. Seems come 1/18/2021 2:31 PM to Harbor Spring because of the way it it - why try and make it like other towns. The signs put up all around town personally, think were a waste of money. Really, needed to point out the waterfront? The town is a block from the water, you see the lake as you're coming into town. People can't find the water and the shopping/restaurants on the main street and adjacent blocks just by looking. Harbor Springs is fine the way it is, people will always come because of the way it currently is - no need to change to make it like other towns. 5 I think the character is perfect the way it is and that the City shouldn't try to "improve" 1/14/2021 10:36 AM something that is already perfect. 6 Trees planted in the green space by the pier...... 1/13/2021 8:43 PM 7 Do not allow close packing of buildings within the city limits (with the exception of the 1/12/2021 8:08 PM downtown area) 8 Putting a few picnic tables around doesn't go a long way toward inviting people to linger. Our 1/11/2021 2:49 PM waterfront area could be better enjoyed by locals and visitors if more activity were encouraged such as kiosks and comfortable seating 9 A four way stop at the intersection of Main and State is sorely needed. It is currently 1/10/2021 4:35 PM dangerous for pedestrians and cars. More picnic tables at all the parks would be good. More benches downtown. 10 improve and update existing places and structures 1/7/2021 5:46 PM 11 Move toward a "form based" code within the existing zoning ordinance. 1/6/2021 12:50 PM 12 Keep it old-fashioned. Keep the christmas tree in the road in that season, keep the friendly 1/6/2021 8:28 AM atmosphere, keep franchised businesses out and keep it small town. 13 have tennis courts downtown 1/5/2021 4:02 PM 14 Only in relation to public spaces. 1/4/2021 10:08 PM 15 maybe close off part of Main St. during the summer weekends for street dining and other 1/4/2021 11:03 AM activities. 16 focus on areas beyond the immediate downtown 1/3/2021 3:35 PM 17 Encourage, rather than discourage outdoor dining and perhaps rent control to open options up 1/3/2021 12:22 PM to diversified year round business. More intellectual & arts venues please. Be profoundly open to listening to-trial running of new ideas being used in other communities. This open-ness to new ideas, in itself - improves character. Continue to not charge for parking. Continue the Tree Committee/campaign/more trees & colorful perennial companion planting (that wards off insects naturally. Assess your noise ordinance so that it can be EASILY enforced-(it's a ineffective conflict cycle- now-impossible to police) No fireworks other than 4th July (enforce THIS! many are effected by this noise) Reassess the no fly zone over the city, the bluff and shoreline in the city - the summer contingency violates this relentlessly. Thanks for reaching out and asking. Thanks for hiring the current City Manager, THAT was a huge move forward. 18 Remove all wayfinding signs. They look terrible and are always out dated. Remove the existing 1/2/2021 4:42 PM TIF. Place those monies back into the General Fund where they do more good. 19 Cohesive summer plantings along bay, main and third streets. See PETOSKEY for examples 1/2/2021 8:57 AM of beautiful matching hanging planters. Too much of the streetscape is left to the shopkeepers 14 / 18
Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs and the results are inconsistent at best and non-existent at worse (a sad little patch of grass bordered by 2x4’s) 20 More picnic tables 12/31/2020 4:23 PM 21 encourage participation from summer residents since they are significant funders to the tax 12/30/2020 4:31 PM base. 22 Do not want to stifle natural growth and change, too many ordinances strangle those who live 12/30/2020 1:14 PM here year round. 23 Continuing to preserve what is there now. I could see implementing a color palate & 12/29/2020 3:04 PM architectural guidelines for NEW buildings and structures. 24 residents and visitors alike enjoy and appreciate the current character of the city, leave it as is. 12/29/2020 12:05 PM 25 our best real estate is along the waterfront sadly, the least attractive buildings and use is 12/27/2020 11:18 AM installed there 26 Fix the Boardwalk and keep the wild overgrowth from blocking the view of the bay 12/26/2020 4:34 PM 27 Quit allowing variances to real estate concerns. 12/23/2020 2:51 PM 28 Architectural standards on new construction, & total renovations of existing. 12/23/2020 2:11 PM 29 Develop integrity in planning process so that our community isn’t ruined by freaks. 12/23/2020 12:34 PM 30 The current local ordinances regarding development, signage, etc. suffice 12/22/2020 6:29 PM 31 More green space 12/22/2020 4:52 PM 32 Limit height of buildings 12/22/2020 4:05 PM 33 Stop with all the signs!! Really uptown& downtown, the beach, ugly signs e everywhere, not 12/22/2020 10:06 AM needed 34 The preservation of the City character has been lost it just has it's history now. 12/21/2020 3:52 PM 35 Remove or modify existing restrictions and zoning regulations. Start with a new Master Plan. 12/11/2020 7:15 PM 36 mandate that ALL homeowners and property owners keep up their properties and structures 12/9/2020 2:10 PM including those on city council and not allow them to fall into disrepair within city limits 37 I believe a committee should be formed to advise wether or not to accept art/sculptures 11/11/2020 12:04 PM donated or purchased by the city similar to what other towns have done. 38 With tennis courts removed, how about chess boards or something else down by the pier. 11/11/2020 9:59 AM Charlevoix is much more vibrant. I have not seen a person in the little cupola building welcoming people or offering things to do in a few years. Sad with how much we pay in taxes and seeing all of those pickups driving around all the time. The City or chamber should be able to do something about that. 39 HS is similar to Mayberry. We do not need to do much. Small roads and unimproved areas 11/11/2020 9:44 AM keep the "character" of the area. Overdevelopment will be the kiss of death of Harbor Springs. Petoskey is the area for better roads and infrastructure. Choking traffic will regulate the character of HS. The City should not over improve the infrastructure. If improved to look like Charlevoix or some other "quaint" town then we are loosing what we are. 40 keep govenmental oversite of private property to a minimum 11/11/2020 9:20 AM 41 Could we please clean up the eye sore created in shay park with the flood control project being 10/30/2020 5:14 PM uncompleted. The orange plastic fencing on M-119 is embarrassing, unsafe and really needs attention. It’s right near the shay rock and nothing is being done to fix it. 42 Waterfront / Harbormaster building redesign. 10/29/2020 10:57 AM 43 inviting recreational facilities 10/21/2020 11:43 AM 44 keep it clean, fix sidewalks, promote pedestrian experience, reduce vehicular presence, make 10/6/2020 3:39 PM the "walkway" work- get rid of cars on it, promote outdoor eating and socializing opportunities, close State Street to vehicles- convert to "City Center" piazza with outdoor eating and public 15 / 18
Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs gathering spaces, music, gardens, ice sculptures, terrace that which is now vehicle paving to terraced (with pavers) human space 45 Remove restrictive zoning regulations that inhibit the type of development that created the 10/1/2020 3:50 PM historic "character" of the City in the first place! 46 Limit short term rentals to owner on site operated only. No off site agents allowed. 9/27/2020 12:02 AM 47 Get rid of the new signage, it doesn’t work and does not fit in. Ugly. Invest the money you put 9/22/2020 6:08 AM into the signs into something else such as ford park facilities, ford park ramp, dockage, harbor master building, public restrooms moorings, etc. 48 Enforce the existing height, zoning, and accessory building laws on the Irish Boat Shop 9/21/2020 8:19 PM abomination. Refer to the existing master plan then actually use it going forward. 49 Slow down and restrict development and building height. People come hear to get away from 9/21/2020 5:34 PM where they are and we’re becoming overbuilt and too busy, losing the charm of the city. 50 Emphasize use and protection of public lands, especially on the waterfront where public 9/17/2020 8:53 AM access is limited due to private developments. 51 Develop long term planning to bury power lines on all future projects where applicable. 9/16/2020 11:55 AM 52 More public beach area. More public walking and viewing along the bay. Preserve the lakefront 9/12/2020 5:38 PM at all costs. 53 PLEASE! get rid of our ugly telephone poles and put all wires underground. Until we do, this 9/11/2020 7:02 PM town can't truly look pristine and your efforts are wasted. PLEASE! don't plant anymore trees! As much as I love them, they choke the sun from our grass - i.e. when the trees in the part at Judd and Main get bigger it will be a forest, not a park where you can enjoy the sunshine!! 54 as for social gatherings, I would like to see the main street closed one night a week for street 9/11/2020 12:16 AM music some should be brought in), juried art, food, kids entertainment etc. 55 Trim and maintain West Bluff. 9/10/2020 12:41 PM 56 The new park by the Pier needs to be landscaped, more appealing and a rain shelter. 9/10/2020 10:42 AM 57 A gazebo on the waterfront could be used by bands and such for public gatherings. Period 9/10/2020 10:09 AM correct of course. 58 Keep it simple. That’s the beauty of Harbor. Natural. Green spaces on the water. Charming 9/10/2020 8:45 AM small town feel. 59 Remove as many signs as possible.. For example, the signs pointing to uptown, waterfront, 9/10/2020 8:37 AM downtown, high school etc. are not needed. People don't need a sign to see where the waterfront is. 60 by allowing new hotel/condo, too high and every inch of lot used and huge houses in the 9/10/2020 8:34 AM downtown area the character of HS has been ruined 61 Add benches for sit down chats, reading, eating. 9/9/2020 10:30 PM 62 None of these options 9/9/2020 11:05 AM 63 A long term plan should include burying all power lines for both aesthetic, safety and practical 9/9/2020 10:24 AM purposes. 64 no dog park, playground at Zoll beach was eliminated due to rising water levels. Please 9/9/2020 10:02 AM consider constructing a playground for our children. 65 Preserve and improve views of Little Traverse Bay especially within HS City limits. 9/8/2020 2:18 PM 66 Aesthetics are important! I think we need to do a better job with the existing areas. There is 9/8/2020 12:14 PM much that could be done to City Hall/ Harbor Master area. Those area should be an inviting gathering place with plenty of picnic tables and benches. It should also have beautiful gardens. It would be nice to have informational plaques giving the various history of Harbor Springs. History is big in Harbor. Let's share it! Same thing for other existing areas. Let's beautify what already is there. I do want to take this opportunity to suggest that any "dog park" facility should be north of town in an area that does not impact neighbors or aesthetics. I like the uniqueness of structures in Harbor. However I do not know the answer in regards to requiring 16 / 18
Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs maintenance of home and property for an individual property owner. How you take care of your home and property is a direct reflection of how you feel about the community. 67 Supporting economic vitality is more important than externally-imposed aesthetic regulation. 9/7/2020 7:23 PM 68 Limit any further commercial development of the waterfront area 9/7/2020 9:49 AM 69 Remove all the extra signage in and around the city...it’s redundant and an eye sore. 9/7/2020 9:15 AM 70 Lower the tax assessments on downtown commercial rental properties in order to lower the 9/7/2020 8:37 AM cost to renters. 71 Allow and encourage people to live above commercial buildings. Allow certain businesses to 9/7/2020 7:50 AM operate in residential areas 72 We do not need the city to control color palettes for all bldgs and structures. Harbor Springs is 9/6/2020 6:11 AM charming just the way it is. We do not need more architectural control. Harbor Springs is charming just the way it is. Landscaping features are nice as long as they’re not in the middle of the street like they have in Petoskey. Would need to know more about creating more social gathering places. 73 Marina Park plan w small amphitheater, more trees and food stands that rotate local 9/5/2020 10:10 AM restaurants offerings 74 Improve on gardenscapes ... Petoskey is a great example 9/5/2020 12:28 AM 75 Traffic rarely stops for the pedestrian crosswalk at the top of the hill. I've seen alot of kids 9/4/2020 4:46 PM using it and it would enhance the safety and walkability to perhaps draw more attention to it with signage. 76 Since large amounts of grant funding was thwarted to rebuild an antiquated Harbormaster 9/3/2020 5:07 PM building & parking lot, where are the great ideas and where is money going to come from now? Still waiting to hear from brain-trusts that said no. . . . crickets. 77 Aggressively work to keep the area natural and rustic looking. Stop private parties from 9/3/2020 3:06 PM hindering views by trying to be taller. 78 what ever you decide, stop catering to the rich. 9/3/2020 3:03 PM 79 Based on past survey/resolutions nothing really happens until the end date of the Master Plan. 9/3/2020 10:31 AM These changes have # of years to happen and nothing done until last minute AND then the same questions are asked again and again. It's ridiculous. Finish what you were to do in the past and then move on. 80 Architectural standards are very difficult to enforce. Plus, making everything "the same" is 9/3/2020 8:00 AM boring. Harbor Springs is already beautiful and most development is within a similar architectural aesthetic. Leaving the door open for creativity makes our town more authentic. 81 I live the new sails downtown - great idea to close off streets as well. Let’s create more street 9/3/2020 6:26 AM fairs and family fun 82 Keep trees trimmed to maintain views for all residents and tourists 9/2/2020 10:34 PM 83 More waterfront access and focus. City Beach should be a GEM, and not a pitiful afterthought. 9/2/2020 10:08 PM 84 No neon, no vinyl banners or flag advertisements, no yard signs (political), maintenance 9/2/2020 9:49 PM esthetic standards even on unoccupied property 85 AFFORDABLE HOUSING 9/2/2020 8:54 PM 86 Another set of public restrooms would be good. For very large projects, public could weigh in. 9/2/2020 10:42 AM 87 Make it more friendly to pedestrian traffic. Some of the most charming towns have walkways 9/1/2020 7:25 PM all along the waters edge( Manistique is one, Escanaba as well). This encourages sight seeing and caretaking at the same time. 88 We should not regulate style, colors, or taste. Err on the side of property owners deciding how 9/1/2020 3:06 PM to use their property. The place to focus is on making our parks superb. We especially need a semi-open structure for gathering, meeting, and dining. The shade sail project shows how nice it would be to have a structure there but the current solution looks cheap and shoddy. Let's make it way better. 17 / 18
Master Plan Survey #1: Natural Character of Harbor Springs 89 regarding question 6 and 7. it's important to keep the views we have, and potentially create 9/1/2020 11:54 AM more views, but that needs to be balanced with allowing property owners to develop properties as well. buildings in the downtown business area could be staggered to allow taller buidlings further away from the bay and more stringent height restrictions as we close towards the water permitting more properties views of the water. 90 in addition to and probably as part of the architectural standards i think its important that 9/1/2020 9:14 AM buildings and development fit into the existing landscape. The landscape and natural features prevail and the buildings/development don't detract. Furthermore, tree trimming and cuttings on private lands should also be controlled. We should use as much of the natural landscape (ing) as possible. We don't need to make the city a compilation of man-made grass and wood chip gardens. 91 Making changes usually doesn’t help if preserving character. Color palette sounds like 9/1/2020 5:52 AM something that’ll look pretty dated in 10 years. 92 Stop knocking down historic buildings and replacing them with multi-story structures that are 9/1/2020 12:27 AM serving to box in what used to be a lovely few blocks of the city that lie off the water but still used to have some charm. Be proactive and inclusive with planning. Make "Communities and the Politics of Place" by Dan Kemmis required reading for city officials. It is a primer in how to bring people together in order to preserve and advance places that are rich in natural resources and undergoing development pressure. Learn from how others have successfully resolved such challenges. 93 no change 8/31/2020 8:32 PM 94 Strict Limitations on development especially on the waterfront. Irish Boat expansion is awful, 8/31/2020 8:12 PM such an eyesore on our already limited waterfront. We don’t need architectural uniformity or color schemes. The uniqueness makes it special. Keep the small-town charm. I have seen too many other areas ruined for good. In other words, leave well enough alone. 95 Require equal compliance to regulations and zoning issues, without being arbitrary, or 8/31/2020 5:38 PM discrimatory, based upon wealth, etc. Get rid of some of the ridiculous zoning restrictions. 96 Increase size of waterfront parks through condemnation 8/31/2020 5:16 PM 97 I think to preserve would be to leave it as it is, no more residential homes crammed in a small 8/31/2020 4:12 PM space like over on the corner down from city hall, that is ridiculous that was ever allowed. People come here to enjoy our beautiful town, why people think we need to clutter it with signs and buildings is beyond me 98 HS has way to many ordinances and regulations already. 8/31/2020 4:06 PM 99 It is time to come up with a plan for the old tennis court property. 8/31/2020 4:02 PM 100 Create rules against cottage company type mega homes in major areas. (Bay Street cottages, 8/31/2020 2:54 PM new cottage company condos on bay st, etc). Also question 7 was phrased in a silly way—are the heights acceptable or could they be taller? No room for someone to say they are too tall. 18 / 18
