A message from Provincetown Town Manager, Robin Craver

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 brings concern and uncertainty to our visitors and residents. As
a favorite and popular tourist destination, the Town of Provincetown is taking all precautions to
make the safety and well-being of the visitors and residents our highest priority. The Provincetown
Board of Health takes public health emergency preparedness and response very seriously. Health
and Emergency Management Officials are closely monitoring the current status of COVID-19 and
are taking guidance and following the protocols for managing a potential outbreak as outlined by
the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Cape Cod and Provincetown do not have any individuals testing positive for the virus, however, we
are taking all precautions to prevent transmission. The Visitor Services Board and local tourism
entities are working closely with businesses, hospitality workers and residents to heighten
awareness of sanitary cleansing and personal hygiene behaviors to keep the town a safe haven for

everyone who knows it as their home away from home. Follow this link for more information from
the Provincetown Board of Health. We will be providing frequent updates to this Town COVID-19

We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the World Health Organization’s suggested
safety precautions including regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and
sneezing, avoiding touching your face and avoiding close contact with anyone showing signs of
illness. Whether you are at work, working from home or traveling to be with loved ones, we all

   Small Business Assistance for COVID-19
Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program:
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and Baker-Polito Administration
are working closely with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to activate the Economic
Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, which would provide assistance to eligible businesses and
                               non-profits impacted by COVID-19.

The first step in this process is to meet a minimum threshold of affected businesses within
Massachusetts. To do this, affected small businesses and non-profits should download,
complete, and submit this SBA EIDL Worksheet and Instructions to expedite activation of
                                         the EIDL program.

Completed forms may be submitted by email to Disaster.Recovery@mass.gov or by fax to (508)
820-1401. If submitting by fax, please include an email address.

Please note, this initial survey form is not a SBA loan application. When the EIDL program
is activated, you will be contacted to apply directly to the SBA and this website will be updated
                                     with application details.

                 For questions, please contact Disaster.Recovery@mass.gov.

                                  About the EIDL program:
EIDLs provide small businesses with working capital loans of up to $2 million to help meet
financial obligations and operating expenses until normal operations resume.

daily lunch routine in response to concerns over the Covid-19 virus. As of Monday,
March 16, SKIP will suspend its table service and instead distribute boxed lunches.

The lunches may be picked up at the entrance to SKIP’s usual location, the
Provincetown United Methodist Church on Shank Painter Road, beginning at

the most prudent step to take,” said SKIP Chairperson Philip Franchini. “Our
dedicated volunteers will continue meal preparation and distribution of the lunches.”

The new lunch-distribution system is expected to continue until further notice.

“We regret the loss of the socializing that’s a big part of SKIP’s daily lunches, but the

Rep. Peake Secures Funding For Bridge Approaches
                              in State Bond Bill

                          Provincetown State Representative Sarah Peake
has secured funding in a state transportation bond bill that will
improve the infrastructure leading up to the Cape Cod Canal bridges.

Peake filed an amendment that reinstated $350 million in the $18 billion transportation bond bill.
The legislation was approved by the House last week and now goes before the Senate. At the recent Cape
Legislative Brunch, Peake discussed the bridges and how essential the funding is to the overall project.

“It’s important because as we go to the feds and say we need funding, it’s important to show that the state has
skin in the game and that the state is committed to the process as well,” said Peake.
The legislation was filed by Governor Charlie Baker last year in the bond bill to pay for the approaches to the
bridges. It wasn’t in the bond bill when it came out of the House Ways and Means committee, so Peake reinstated
it.
Peake also said that she spoke to a member of U.S. Representative Bill Keating’s office recently and said that
Keating, along with U.S. Representative Katherine Clark and Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey had a positive
meeting with the secretary of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

“I think despite the Trump budget, there’s a feeling of optimism that we’re on a good track in order to be able to
secure funding and get over it over a series of years and keep the bridge project very much alive,” said Peake.

5th Annual “Sail into Imagination” art contest for students in grades K-12 living in the SSA’s constituent
communities.
Students living on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, and in Barnstable, Fairhaven, Falmouth, and New Bedford
are invited to participate. Thirteen prize winners will be selected and the winning artwork will be showcased in a

traveling aboard SSA ferries and to inspire artistic interpretations of growing up by the sea.

“It’s a joy seeing our ferries and ports through the eyes of these young artists,” said Kimberlee McHugh, Director
of Marketing for the SSA. “The calendar and artwork onboard the ferries have become something our passengers
and employees look forward to seeing year after year.”

In addition to having their art displayed in the calendar and on select SSA ferries, the 13 winners will be awarded
a $100 gift card for passenger travel aboard a SSA ferry and will receive an invitation to attend the official art

THE LAW BANNING THE USE OF A HAND-HELD
DEVICE WHILE DRIVING WENT INTO EFFECT
                                   ON FEBRUARY 23, 2020.
This law, is designed to keep the roads safer, and means no scrolling,
typing or holding a cellphone while behind the wheel, so you'll have to use
voice texting or another hands-free way to talk or text while driving.
The law allows drivers to use a single tap or swipe to turn on a hands-free
feature, and to use navigation applications so long as the device is
mounted to the “windshield, dashboard or center console in a manner that does not impede the
operation of the motor vehicle.
The law automatically provides for mandatory warnings for the new provisions through the end of
March. Then civil fines of 1st offense $100, 2nd offense $250 and 3rd offense $500. A third or
subsequent offense will count as a surchargeable incident on your insurance. The law requires
operators who commit a second or subsequent offense are required to complete an educational
program focused on distracted driving prevention.
