Welcome The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public feedback on proposed improvements along WIS 32 from Trinity Church Road to County AA in Oconto County. The purpose of this outreach is to obtain your input on the identified needs and proposed improvements. There will be no in-person public meeting due to the current health emergency. We appreciate your input and encourage you take a moment to review the project information and provide comment. We want your comments Please read the project details and send any questions or comments to the project team. The team can be reached by: • Filling out and mailing the attached comment form with prepaid mailer. • Emailing any of the project team members. • Calling any of the project team members. Project Need New pavement is needed to address the rutted and cracked pavement, which is reaching the end of its service life. Wider paved shoulders provide a better recovery area for errant vehicles. Rumble strips on the centerline and shoulders provide warning to errant vehicles. The sidewalk curb ramps do not meet current standards. Also, many culverts under WIS 32 and the guardrail at the bridge in Suring are reaching their service life and in need of replacement. Proposed improvements WisDOT is proposing to improve 10 miles of WIS 32. Proposed improvements include: • Place new asphalt pavement o Increase paved shoulder width by 2’ (total shoulder width stays the same) • Replace sidewalk curb ramps with better alignment, gentler slopes, and detectable warning plates • Repair storm sewer • Replace and repair culverts under WIS 32 • Replace guardrail • Spot repairs or replacements of the storm sewer in Suring o Replacing about 800 feet of storm sewer pipe in various locations on WIS 32 o Replacing 23 storm sewer structures (catch basins & manholes) o Repairing 16 storm sewer structures Separate project: WisDOT also proposes a new deck surface on the rural bridge over the South Branch of the Oconto River located 1.2 miles north of County R. This is a separate project scheduled to be constructed concurrently with WIS 32 resurfacing.
Proposed traffic Impacts • Most of the project will be completed under traffic via flagging operations. o Traffic delays within the construction zone can be expected. • A two-week closure of WIS 32 from Trinity Church Road to County M/R is required for culvert and storm sewer work. o Access to businesses and properties in the work zone will be maintained. There may be hard closures at spot locations. When these occur, local traffic will access properties from only one direction. o WIS 32 will be reopened on weekends (Friday afternoon to Sunday night) o Detour: County H to County R • Temporary parking lane closures in Suring for storm sewer, curb ramps, milling and paving operations. • Sidewalk closures with pedestrian detour in Suring • Short-term passing and climbing lane closures Schedule • Design: 2021 • Construction: 2022 DETOUR OVERVIEW MAP

It's critical that customers have access to businesses, and that they continue to visit them, regardless of any road work inconvenience. This program is offered to business and community leaders as an idea source as they plan for road construction in their area. WisDOT’s In This Together program for businesses includes: • Specially designed business guide with information on: o Planning ahead o Staying informed o Keeping customers informed o Tips for businesses during design and construction • Case studies that demonstrate techniques that have been successfully used in communities throughout Wisconsin. • Promotional samples showing a variety of examples of how businesses have promoted their businesses during construction. During construction, temporary signing for business will be available. While signing and other marketing/advertising during the construction is up to the business, WisDOT encourages businesses to use the resources above to assist them with planning for construction before the construction begins.
