PROJECT OUTLINE WOMEN PROGRAM The program aims to empower women in marginalized areas to be self-reliant though economic livelihood projects and provision of knowledge and services on SRHR. It takes 5 years to graduate the women empowerment program. During the 5 years the women must go through different trainings including: Orientation, SBS training, Agricultural training, Rights Way Forward training, Sexual reproductive health, Nutrition/Safe cooking methods, Handiwork and Leadership training. Graduation occurs when a group has gone through all the trainings, has created self-sustained projects, are able to do table banking on their own, solve group problems on their own and when a group can apply for funding on their own. Dandelion Africa currently works with 37 women groups, with a minimum of 10 in each and a maximum of 20. Currently 15 groups are new and 17 groups have existed between 1-5 years. We work with 500 women actively and have worked with 1,500 women since inception. OTHER PROJECTS Dandelion Africa has the In-house Savings and Credit Cooperation where women can save for development, school fees and long term projects. It currently has over 1 million shillings in savings. In August 2018 Dandelion Africa officially launched the Dandelion Empowerment Fund which is a small loan that the organization gives to women groups ranging from Kshs 50,000 to Kshs 100,000 The initial fund was given by a funder and we have so far given our loans to 6 groups. Dew Drop Over 20 women have received water tanks through the Dew Drop project where they received water tanks from Dandelion Africa through the support of companies in Sweden. This has been a great help as they have indicated a steep decline in water born diseases in their homes. We hope to give an additional 20 women, water tanks in 2019. Future The aim is to add 10 new women groups each year and that they graduate after maximum 5 years. Here is a representation of what the women empowerment program includes very briefly:
