To mark the occasion the studio has invited all members past and present, as well as guest printmakers who had participated in previous exhibitions, to take part in a major touring exhibition. Duet for One Dundalk Theatre Workshop Based on the life of Jacqueline du Pré, the cellist who rose to huge acclaim in the 1960s until she was struck by MS in 1971, the play asks the question, how do you go on living when all hope has gone? It is a noble and deeply moving piece of theatre, filled with wit, insight and a refusal to wallow in misfortune. Concerning the Other Concerning the Other is a collaborative art project which brings together ten artists to create a hundred collaborative artworks. The concept for this project is that in these days of uncertainty, mounting racism and intolerance, artists can take a lead in promoting diversity and showing concern for minorities and for refugees from areas of conflict. Ten selected artists responded to and took account of each other’s work in a collaborative process which took place over ten weeks in 2017. The collaborative nature of this project is particularly relevant in these turbulent times and it resulted in surprising and engaging artworks. Ireland’s Call Follow the lives and family histories of three young men as they grow up in Coolock on Dublin’s northside. What shapes them and entices them to a life of crime? Examining issues of class, religion and identity, this new play is an unflinching exploration of the Irish psyche, bringing our collective guilts, secrets and flaws to the surface. Developed as part of Show In A Bag, an artist development initiative of Dublin Fringe Festival, Fishamble: The New Play Company and Irish Theatre Institute to resource theatre makers and actors.
