04 JUL 2020 MATHALON The morning of 4th July 2020, was exciting for the junior Dipsites of Class VI, who in their steely resolve to not let the Covid Pandemic affect them kickstarted the first competition of the year... Mathalon! Using the online platform and interesting math puzzles, they applied their logical and problem-solving skills to full use. The young mathematicians left no stone unturned to prove themselves the best! 11 JUL 2020 ENGLISH VOCABULARY QUIZ The children of Class V enthusiastically appeared for a vocabulary quiz on the 18th of July. The online approach to the quiz added to their undying excitement. Synonyms and Antonyms, prefixes and suffixes, categorizing the books as per their genres, understanding proverbs, listening and matching meanings, dealing with jumble letters to bring out the correct words, homophones and labelling their favourite transport - the car were the questions the children enjoyed tackling during the competition. JUL INTRA CLASS ART 2020 COMPETITION Every child is an artist and to encourage their creativity, Delhi Public School Surat conducted an online 'Intra Class Art Competition'. The little artists of Class III unleashed their creative thoughts and ideas on drawing sheets. The students created magic with their colours and art materials and brought to life their artworks on 'Travel Diaries, Jungle Life and Sea World.' The artwork of children was really extraordinary. 30 JUL INTRA CLASS ENGLISH VOCAB- 2020 ULARY QUIZ COMPETITION Vocabulary is the element which connects all the four literacy skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Using the right words at the right times is an integral part of how we communicate effectively and eloquently. And the students of Class IV of DPS Surat proved themselves to be little linguists in the making as they took part in their first online 'Intra class English Vocabulary Competition' on 30th July 2020. 14 AUG 2020 MY INDIA MY PRIDE The students of Class VI celebrated the 74th Independence Day, in a unique online way in these times to pay tributes to all those people, who had laid down their lives in an attempt to liberate India from the clutches of British imperialism. They took part in a competition based on the history and struggle for Independence. AUG 2020 COMIC STRIP ACTIVITY To commemorate the 140th birth anniversary of one of the greatest litterateurs of Hindi language, Munshi Premchand, Delhi Public School Surat organised a Comic strip activity for the students of Class V and VI based on his stories. The students very enthusiastically participated in it and brought to life his various famous works through their language and artistic skills. 03 OCT 2020 THE CONQUEST OF WORDS “Vocabulary is a matter of word-building as well as word-using.” The more students learn high utility words with dense vocabulary, the better they will be able to comprehend text. This affirmation rightly fell into place when the students of class III of Delhi Public School, Surat had their online 'Intra Class English Vocabulary Competition- The Conquest Of Words' on 3rd October 2020. The children showcased their familiarity and consciousness of the language by solving various interactive puzzles, multiple-choice questions and many more. It was a fun-filled educational activity. 03 OCT 2020 THE BIRTHDAY MYSTERY Birthday are always fun! And a birthday with a mystery brings in even more charm and excitement for the children. The students of Class IV had a gala time solving a birthday mystery which encompassed all the Mathematical skills and understanding that they have developed when they took part in the Web quest 'The Birthday Mystery' on 3rd October 2020. The quest started with a birthday gift being stolen and every step leading towards identifying the thief was filled with various math quizzes and logical and symmetrical puzzles where the children applied their critical thinking skills to the fullest. They showcased their understanding of the subject as they cracked the code for the password which led to the thief. 30 SEP 2020 ART AT ITS BEST! Every child is an artist and to encourage their artwork, Delhi Public School Surat conducted an online 'Intra Class Art Competition'. The little artists unleashed their creative thoughts and ideas on drawing sheets. The students created magic with their colours and art materials and brought to life their artworks on 'My dream', 'Creative symbols for festivals', 'Doodle art for Indian festivals 'and 'Future lifestyle of India'. The artwork of children was really extraordinary. SEP 2020 NAVRATRI 2020 The students of Primary block celebrated Virtual Navratri along with their teachers playing garbas and dancing to the beats in a unique way from their homes. The best part was that even the parents and grandparents had equal fun with their children. The enthusiasm was seen in the way they all decked up in Navratri dresses and danced their hearts away. OCT 2020 VIRTUAL CAMP FOR CLASS IV The students of Class IV participated enthusiastically in the after school hours virtual activity camp wherein they enrolled in an activity of their choice, dance, Zumba, creative drama, art on iPad, calligraphy, garba. It gave them a chance to explore theor own abilities and also learn something new. OCT COOKING WITHOUT FIRE- PRE- 2020 DIWALI CELEBRATION The students of Primary block kick started their Diwali fun when they cooked with their friends and teacher and yet in the safe confines of their homes. They chose the sweet that they would make and with the recipe given to them, they had great fun measuring the ingredients, mixing them and turning them into sweets, and all without fire. OCT 2020 IT'S RANGOLI TIME The Diwali celebrations continued with the making of the 3-D Rangoli with whatever papers they had. The students put to use their creative art n craft skills to use and made absolutely fabulous rangolis which gave the 3-D effect. The junior Dipsites created a virtual Diwali in a stunning way. OCT 2020 DIYA N LANTERNS The word Deepavali is synonymous with diyas and lights. The festival of lights would be incomplete without diyas. 07 NOV 2020 OUR LITTLE BOTANIST The students of class IV explored the amazing world of plants through the webquest - 'Plants' featuring various categories like evolution of plants, adaptation of plants, amazing plants, medicinal herbs and conservation of plants. They then participated enthusiastically in 'Our little botanists' Quiz on 7th November 2020. This gave them an opportunity to show off their knowledge as well as the competitive skills. 07 NOV 2020 ULTIMATE BIRDS A Web quest on 'Birds' featuring various amazing facts about these winged beauties, their evolution, features and adaptations along with the various categories like Backyard Birds, Birds of Paradise and the ones on verge of extinction set the preparatory tune for Students of Class III who polished their knowledge about birds. They then participated with great enthusiasm in the 'Ultimate Birds Quiz' on 7th November 2020. 05 DEC 2020 COMPETITION : EDGAH A Hindi competition was held on Saturday 5 Dec 2020 for Class 3. It was based on Munshi Premchand's story 'Edgah'. They solved different puzzles based on grammar topics. Students were asked to read & understand the story and answer the questions based on story & vocabulary. 05 DEC HINDI COMPETITION- 2020 DORAEMON Hindi competition was held on Saturday 5 Dec 2020 for Class 4. 05 DEC 2020 CHRISTMAS IS HERE! Christmas - a time for sharing, caring and having fun! The students of Class V tried their best to embody this spirit of Christmas in their cards as they took part in the 'Christmas is Here' Card making competition on 19th December 2020. The Santas and the snowflakes; the bells and the Christmas trees which popped out their cards were absolutely fantastic and not only gave a glimpse of their artistic abilities but also spread the Christmas cheer. 24 DEC 2020 CAKE N BAKES! The primary block celebrated the arrival of Christmas and New Year on 24th December 2020 by making cakes in the cooking without fire way! JAN 2021 HOBBY EXPRESS To stay locked down for a year needs a lot of patience, perseverance and sanity. The best way to keep them intact is to pursue one's hobby or learn a new skill. This is what DPSSurat catered to, by organising a skill enrichment camp for the students of classes 5 and 6. They were given an online platform to nurture their artistic skills by the Art Department, they were taught western dance and gave them physical enrichment through Aerobics and magic of Science. The feather on the cap in this camp was the futuristic skill of Computer Coding, wherein the children took part with a lot of excitement and curiosity to learn the skill. 02 JAN 2021 OUR GREEN PLANET To engage and enlighten the students of Class V an Intra class quiz competition was organized on the topic ‘Our Green Planet’. The quiz became a learning experience and inculcated the drive to love plants in our students. The students participated with ecstatic spirit as the quiz enriched their knowledge on plants. 13 JAN 2021 LET'S MAKE A KITE! The students of Class V incorporated their finesse in origami shapes when they participated in the 'Let's Make a Kite' on 13th January 2021 to celebrate Uttarayan, the festival of kites. They made origami kites using craft papers and decorated them with their own designs and messages. Their craft skills were fabulous! 13 JAN M E M O R Y D R AW I N G - 2021 U T TA R AYA N The artists of Class VI stole the show when they created wonderful art pieces using their drawing and painting skills to make a Memory drawing on the festival of Uttarayan on 13th January 2021. 13 JAN 2021 UTTARAYAN “The important thing is to create” said Pablo Picasso. To bring out the creative expression of the students and also to gauge their awareness quotient, Delhi Public School Surat conducted an online Poster Making Competition for Class IV students on 13th January 2021, with the theme 'UTTARAYAN'. The children staged their creative skills in drawing and colouring along with the message for Makar Sankranti. 13 JAN 2021 KITES AND ART “ART is as Natural as Sunshine and as Vital as Nourishment”. To discover the undiscovered talents and innovations of the students, Delhi Public School Surat conducted an online Kite Making Competition for Class III students on 13th January 2021. 16 JAN 2021 HINDI CALLIGRAPHY WRITING Calligraphy is the meditative action of creation. It imbibes patience and enables us to focus all over energies on the task. To inspire the students to improve their writing skills, with the aim of bringing awareness about the freedom struggle among the students, a Hindi Calligraphy Slogan Writing Competition was organised by DPS SURAT on 16th January 2021 for Classes V and VI. The student response was awesome and creative. 18-19 JAN 2021 SKILL-O-FUN The students of Classes III to VI had the Skill-o_fun Exhibition in the months of January and February 2021, wherein they had a gala time playing various games related to their subjects. Whether it was Spin n Win, Magic Science, Line Art or Pahelis, Webquests that led them on adventures, they all did their best to win each game. PRIMARY DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL SURAT PAGE NO. 13
06 FEB 2021 MYSTERIOUS MATH Mysteries bring thrill to the life! The students of Class III, being the Head Police officer of their cities solved a robbery mystery which encompassed all the Mathematical skills and understanding that they have developed when they took part in the WebQuest 'The Mathematical mystery of Robbery' on February 6, 2021. They showcased their understanding of the subject as they cracked the code for the password which led to the robbers. The Math Competition proved that the junior mathematicians can solve any mystery in a jiffy! 06 FEB 2021 ENGLISH LISTENING Class IV students participated in the Intra Class English Listening Competition on 6th February, 2021. A book widget link was shared with them in their circle time. The students engaged themselves by paying attention to the audios thereby portraying their listening skills and answered the questions thereafter. It was a fun-filled listening competition, where the learners tried to give their 100% by listening to the hilarious audios persistently for better performance. 20 FEB 2021 THE BIRD'S EGG QUEST An EVS competition 'The Bird's Egg Quest' was held on 20th February 2021. It was a webquest based on a story 'A journey to spot the eggs' and students were smart enough to find answers to all the clues. Then was the final step based on the EVS concepts and the students attempted it very well. 20 FEB 2021 TUNE IN – HINDI LISTENING! The students of Class III battled out their wits as they attempted the Hindi Listening Competition 'Tune In' on 20th February 2021. They listened to the story 'Buddhimaan Kaun' and then answered the questions based on it. It was an interesting time as they tried to use their listening, understanding and writing skills in one go to find who was more intelligent - the lion or the rabbit. JUL 2020 TIMELINE DEPICTING COINS The students of Class V made a timeline by observing and collecting coins over various years. They then chose a coin of particular year and described a historical event of importance during that era. It was an enriching activity and very interesting for the students as they reflected back in yester years. JUL THE COLOURS OF MADHU 2020 BANI The students of Class IV had a very interesting time when they made natural colours using leaves, turmeric, flowers like marigold, rose, hibiscus etc. They then made Madhu Bani paintings and painted them with the natural colours made by themselves. AUG 2020 INDIAN POSTAL SERVICES The students of Class V conducted an expedition project based on the Indian Postal Department, wherein they made drawings of a post office and write the history of the Indian Postal Department. In an era where e-mails and social messenger apps are taking over, it was an eye opener for the children about the importance of Postal Services before the internet arrived on the scene. AUG GANDHIJI KA CHARITRA 2020 CHITRAN The students of Class VI had a completely different experience when they studied the lesson 'Naukar' in their Hindi textbook Vasant. They made power point and keynote presentations based on the lesson where they had a chance to learn and analyse the high moral values that Mahatma Gandhi followed in his life. JUN 2020 IT'S TABLES TIME When children know their times tables, mental arithmetic becomes easier and also helps them to understand number and number relationships, and to see patterns in numbers. The students of class 3 were asked to collect 14 sticks and were encouraged to try arranging them like 1 time 4 = 4, 2 time 4 = 8 and so on and at the end count how many times the stick crossed each other. This helped them to develop a conceptual understanding of tables. JUN 2020 THE ATMOSPHERE A fun-tastic hands-on activity on layers of atmosphere was done by students of Class VI in Social Studies! Students expressed themselves creatively and demonstrated their understanding that the atmosphere is composed of layers-troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere and exosphere. AUG 2020 THE TUMBLE OF DICES The students of Class V had a gala time when they used two dices to decide the fate of the shape that they were to measure the area and perimeter of in their Math class. The numbers on the dices decided the length and breadth of the shape, drawn on graph papers. This also helped them understand how the formula for Area was derived as the product of length and breadth, when the product was always equal to the number of squares inside the closed shape. SEP 2020 MAKING A TIMELINE An activity where the students were introduced to making of a timeline in Science. A timeline is the presentation of a chronological sequence of events along a drawn line that enables a viewer to understand temporal relationships quickly. It is useful to document any type of development, providing an easy-to-understand history and helping viewers to understand past and ongoing trends. The students were asked to make their own timeline on a chart paper with a minimum of five incidents which took place in their life since birth. SEP 2020 MIRROR IMAGES The mirror is a fixture in every home and each and everyone uses it without actually considering how it reflects an exact symmetrical image of us. The students of Class V discovered just that when they used mirrors to show the symmetry of whatever they chose to write on the paper, whether it was a number, an alphabet or their names. SEP 2020 HINDI DIWAS On 14th September 2020 we celebrated online Hindi Diwas. We discussed about the importance of this day and why 14th September is celebrated as Hindi Diwas. Students were asked to make a card and write few lines on Hindi Diwas. They enjoyed making cards and reciting poems written by them. PRIMARY DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL SURAT PAGE NO. 20
SEP 2020 EXPRESSIONS The students of Class III learnt the art of identifying facial expressions by enacting out them and in the process learnt to identify the adjectives related to it. OCT 2020 DECIMAL OLYMPIC The term decimals took a new meaning when the students of Class VI were sent on web quest which started with an equestrian ride where the winner was the one who converted fractions into decimals the fastest, to a rapid fire KBC round and ended in solving a crossword to get the password for their product case study. It was a way for them to connect the decimals to their real world and why and how they are useful to us. The case study started with a hunt for their favourite packaged food with the nutritional values and the comparison if diesel prices across the country. PRIMARY DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL SURAT PAGE NO. 20
