1 | President's Letter President's Letter | 2 President's Letter Welcome to the second edition of the six-month prayer diary and thank you to Christine and all who have contributed. It is hard to believe that we are into the second half of 2021. I have been to many branches both in person and online and I am grateful for all you continue to do in support of Mothers Union Sydney as branch members or as diocesan members. Thank you for your prayers and your willingness to try different approaches as we meet or navigate these times. As for our organisation, Kimberly, is visiting parishes asking “what can we do to support families?” and helping to inform and re-establish connections. Our two Church Workers, Gemma and Rhiannon are proving to be gifted, motivated and enthusiastic women working where God has placed them. Please keep praying for them as they reach out to their communities in Jamberoo and Airds. 7 | Core Prayers Core Prayers | 8 Mothers Union Prayer (alternative version) Loving Lord, we thank you for your love so freely given to us all. We pray for families around the world. Bless the work of the Mothers’ Union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life. Empowered by your Spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship, and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen A Prayer for Marriage and Family Life Heavenly Father, we thank you that you ordained marriage and family life, modelled on the relationship of Christ and his Church. We grieve as we see marriage devalued in the life of our nation. Please draw our people back to yourself and your word. Grant that young people will be prepared to live in purity and July that they will commit themselves to one another through public promises. Grant that they will show each other the love which endures. Grant that parents will nurture their children in all godliness and that children will honour parents. Pour out your Holy Spirit upon husbands, wives and children so that they know love and security. Grant that we, and our whole community, will strengthen and support marriage and family life, to the good of our people and the glory of your name: through Jesus Christ our Lord.
