Physics Games PARTNERSHIP PLAN Sherbrooke - 2019
Presentation
This year, Université de Sherbrooke will host the ninth edition of the
Physics Games that will take place from January 11th to 13th 2019. During the
course of this weekend, Physics and Engineering Physics delegations of
universities from Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes will be invited to participate
in friendly competitions themed around Physics.
This initiative was born in Polytechnique in 2011 and has since seen a
steady growth. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in various
activities : a technical challenge, oral debates, génies en herbe (trivia)
competitions, a theoritical exam, an improvisation tournament, and many more!
Each activity allows teams to gather points. The best performing team is revealed
during our closing ceremony and will be declared the winner of the 2019 edition.
Besides the fun and games, this event is also a great opportunity for
students to meet big players in their fields as well as future partners. It also
encourages collaboration and allows for networking between future
professionals. For the first time, this year, a networking cocktail with participants
and partners will be held. This activity will provide a privileged space for our
partners and professors to discuss with the next generation of Physics
professionals, which will obviously be more that pleased to learn about career or
graduate studies opportunities.
This large scale event would not be possible without the help of our
numerous volunteers and our precious sponsors. It is with the goal of continuing
this tradition that we are asking for your support. You will contribute to enriching
the academic life of many future physicists and engineering physicists by
sponsoring one of the most memorable events of their early careers.

A Word from the
President
I have the pleasure of presiding the 2019 edition of the Physics
Games which will be held on the Université de Sherbrooke campuses.
This event is a meaningful experience for more than a hundred and a
half students each year. Commitment and involvement from many
people since 2011 have successfully made the Games a tradition that is
keenly awaited every year.
The Games bring together students from different levels and
from all around the province (and even beyond!). This mixture of
people, which are mostly strangers to each other at the beginning of
the vent, always yields fortunate meetings. These can lead to an
epiphanic discovery of a career plan or a field of research. This year, we
want to make more of these encounters happen and improve their
quality. Bearing this objective in mind, whether you are looking for a
physicist or an engineering physicist on the verge of entering the job
market, or simply a young enterprise trying to get yourself known
amongst young students, I will personally make a point of helping you
networking with the participants.
It is a great honor for me to be an adjuvant in the production of
this event and I greatly appreciate that you want to be part of its
success.

Closing Ceremony
This year, for the first time, a networking cocktail will
be held on Sunday January the 6th. On this occasion,
our Gold, Diamond and Platinum partners will be
invited to meet the participants in a laid back
atmosphere.
This will be a golden opportunity for enterprises and professors to
meet students that will soon be looking for a job or a master’s
project.
The closing ceremony is the last event of the weekend. It represents
a great occasion to mingle one last time with partners and friends
to talk about the highlights of the event. The winning team will be
announced and Diamond and Platinum sponsors are invited.
