wins. Could run in to a place today
5. BEAUTE PROMISE - Pulled-up in a handicap hurdle at Auteuil in November
and a well beaten ninth behind (1) VANGEL DE CERISY in a handicap hurdle
here this month. Capable on her day but needs to reaffirm
6. CAYO DE PAIL - Veteran hurdler who is still competitive in this class of event
and finished fourth behind (1) VANGEL DE CERISY in a handicap hurdle here

7. ETERNAL ARMY - Course winner last year. Not so effective this winter but ran
well enough when fifth behind Polipa in a conditions hurdle here this month.

long losing sequence at present. Decent effort when fifth behind Cote D'Azur in a
Listed hurdle at Cagnes earlier this month

13. TIOT CAS - A former Listed placed hurdler at this track in 2016 but has not
run since September of 2017 when third in a chase at Craon. Probably best just

consistent all last season before disappointing in a handicap hurdle at Auteuil last
time out in November
15. DINAN - Won three flat races last year before disappointing on return to the
obstacles at this venue in December. Comfortable winner of a handicap hurdle
here this month. Has more to offer
16. KASARCA - Missed all of 2017 and was pulled-up on both starts last year.
Runner up behind (15) DINAN in a handicap hurdle here earlier this month. More

(9) SANTANA DU BERLAIS was placed in two handicap hurdles at Auteuil in
November before finishing sixth behind in a handicap hurdle here earlier this
month. He was behind a few of these on that occasion but should be spot on

three starts at Cagnes. Hard to like
16. BARON DU SEUIL - Enjoyed a productive winter at the venue last year and
is back on a fair mark at the moment

Summary

Although still a maiden after thirteen starts (6) DEO GRATIAS has been knocking
on the door lately having been placed in her last four including third behind Dinan
in a handicap hurdle here this month. She can break her maiden tag today. (7)
MOODY MARY has a similar profile and was a good third to Calinight here ten
days ago so cannot be ruled out. (4) AYURVEDA and (16) BARON DU SEUIL are
two more to consider. (9) CRACANTE is next best.

7. HALLSOME - Eight wins from fifty nine so has work to do to get close but may
do better
8. PICKING UP PIECES - Eight time winner from seventy six but latest few
efforts are off putting
9. GUITAR - Four wins from twenty nine but latest few efforts are of real concern
10. LYAVENITA - Five victories from fifty six and an each way chance seems to
be the best hope here
11. MAKLAU - One success from twenty six. Blew out on last two efforts so
needs to do better
12. NASIVE DE CERISY - Of the mark on penultimate star at Limoges before
disappointing last time. Work to do

(3) POPEE must have a very big shout of reversing the placings with both (6)
ESCALA and (4) NEMERINA from here the last day as that was her first
handicap start and only her fourth lifetime effort. She is so unexposed that there
must be buckets of improvement forthcoming and therefore warrants a confident

4. VIDEPOCHE - Half a dozen wins from forty five but likely to come up short
here today
5. ART AND CO - Dual winner from twenty five and a good runner up here last
time and ahead of some of these
6. CINQ SOU D'OR - Dual winner from sixteen runs. Fell here last time but will
have a chance if all goes to plan
7. HER BREIZ - Has two wins from fifteen runs. Pulled up here last time and will
need a major bounce back
8. PAR AMOUR - Just the one success from seventeen and surely looks a big
outsider on all form

Summary

These cross country events are always a good spectacle and especially over the
shorter distances like this one. (5) ART AND CO is chosen following a very sound
effort when runner up here at this venue last time over a longer trip and looks
capable of beating (1) FOU ET SAGE who has done well since returning from
Great Britain. (6) CINQ SOU D'OR and (3) VANESSE are the other contenders.

scenario once again here
4. CHOCOLAT DAY - One win from twenty one and has placed several times so
should have a decent shot here
5. DOBLE O NADA - Placed in five of nine runs and that appears to be the best
hope again here
6. FRAROCK - Placed once in seven outings and basically looks to have too
much to do
7. WATNEY - Runner up on penultimate start here and a reproduction of that
would be interesting
8. SALTILLA - One win from thirteen and was a good runner up at Pompadour
last time so is a player
9. PLAGE PRIVEE - Placed in two of five runs last season so is at least
unexposed and might have a squeak

Summary

Even as claimers go, this four year old event is particularly uninspiring to say the
least. (2) GIGI might come out on top. The filly has been running and winning in
Spain last season and that form might well carry the day. (1) LET'S HAPPY
probably stands out on ratings but that can be a dangerous presumption in
claimers. (5) DOBLE O NADA and (4) CHOCOLAT DAY have small chances.

6. SUNDAY RACER - Three time winner from thirty three. Fifth here last time and
will be looking to build on that
7. DEPORTICA AL ASHAI - Unplaced in all her five runs and will need to be
doing so much better
8. INEVITABLE HERMANN - Half a dozen wins from seventy four. Runner up
here last time and bound to be on the premises once more
9. PALKIA - Still t o win after twenty six but finished out last season in good form
10. VIM - A three time winner from ninety seven but appears to have little hope
here
11. CAMPANILLA - Just the one success from twenty eight and really needs to
buck up ideas here
12. DUB STEPS - Only one win from thirty nine attempts and that basically sums
up her chances here

Summary

The final event on the card does offer up a bet in the shape of (2) HUBRIS who
was third over this course and distance earlier in the month. He was one place
behind (4) RED MISTRAL there but the feeling is the gelding is about to hit top
form and therefore can reverse the placings with that one. (8) INEVITABLE
HERMANN and (5) CASCADE are others to come into play.

the one they all have to beat
4. LE PIN - Consistent sort who is better than last run suggests. On-form and can
get a good look in
5. MAGICAL FOREST - May have just needed last start so it's best ignored. Was
on a two-run winning streak prior and should be up there
6. TRAWANGANE - Four wins in first three months of 2018 - three on the all-
weather at Chantilly. Warrants respect
7. SCANDAL - Impressive victor on debut and wasn't disgraced at Lyon-Silk
when fifth - could upset the apple-cart
8. TEMPLE BOY - In decent form, having finished fifth in last two appearances.
Was victorious and if can reproduce that performance could earn a minor cheque
9. CARNAGEO - Five wins from thirty five in the United Kingdom but poor
showings over last three starts. Look elsewhere
10. MR GALLIVANTER - Good strike rate with nine from thirty eight starts but
was in poor form on the flat in early 2018. Others preferred
11. ROYAL RUN - Unreliable two-time winner who of late tends to run in and out
of the places. Has a lot to do
12. HEART AHEAD - Has performed poorly since victorious at Munchen-Riem in
August 2018. A lot of improving still needs to be shown
13. LA CELERINA - Has really been struggling with form for most of 2018 and is
unlikely to trouble the market leaders

Summary

Despite not firing of late, (6) TRAWANGANE loves this track and has won three
races on it. Should bounce back to best against a field of this nature. (4) LE PIN
is the model of consistency and far better than latest performance siuggests -
expect massive improvement. (1) SHASLIKA Has failed to impress of late but
lacks nothing in the skills department - place chance. (5) MAGICAL FOREST can
take home a cheque

and followed-up with a good victory at Maisons-Laffitte. Chance

recent form has quite a lot to do
6. NEVER COMPROMISE - Five-time winner from 2 starts has been out of form
of late but could earn a minor stakes cheque
7. TALLINSKI - Both of his wins in the UK have come on the turf at Nottingham.
Has a tough task ahead. Others preferred
8. SECRET LADY - Showed a bit of improvement when fifth at Deauville last time
but has unfortunately been poor here in her last two efforts but good previous
form
9. SOHO UNIVERSE - One victory from twenty seven. Has the ability but may
find it very hard to trouble the market leaders
10. BLACK SEA - Two wins and just as many places from eight starts so clearly
has the ability and has form nicely - chance
11. MISTER ART - Just the one win from thirty one starts, but is never far off past
the post and can take home a minor cheque
12. FRESCO - Finally left the maiden ranks on the 19th time of asking, winning at
this track last time. Could prove the joker in the pack - respect

Summary

(1) NAAB kicked off the new year with a win and will be looking to double-up. Big
chance. (8) SECRET LADY sparked a bit of improvement inmost recent
appearance and could give the selection some cheek. (2) ACRUX will be out to
prove that last victory was no fluke - great each way prospect. It took (12)
FRESCO nineteen attempts to finally leave the maidens. That may prove o be a
great confidence booster - expect another bold showing

lacks no abilities - one to beat
4. BELLEIRE - Modest form all year in 2018. Hard to recommend considering
has finished ninth last two starts - look elsewhere
5. SICKYL PAPA - In great form at the moment. In pursuit of a third consecutive
victory. Respect
6. HERLEVA - Ignore last run. Was in tremendous form winning prior and is one
to be interested in
7. SPEEDY SPEED - Has performed poorly over last two starts. Place chance at
best against this lot
8. SALERNO - Has won two of his last three starts and wasn't disgraced when
third in latest - expect a massive showing
9. PRIVATE LESSON'S - Ten-time winner from ninety three starts but needs to
do better than his latest effort at this track
10. MY POTTINGUER - In decent form having run a good second in most recent
appearance at this track and could rain on the selections parade
11. DANILEO - Desperately needed last start following a layoff. Is likely to need
more runs to get to full fitness
12. SZIGET - Unpredictable - running in and out of places so is hard to

6. ZAAHIR - Won a claimer on this surface last time out. More needed to win this
race. Might place
7. MIRANDO - Always gives of his best but this is a tougher task. Could play a
minor role
8. ALADIN - Good first two starts and could be ready to go one better this time.

9. GILOU CAT - A bit unreliable and does need to find a few lengths to win this

10. DIVISION - Fair debut but was well beaten in two subsequent starts. Others

improvement to win
7. SAKURA ZENSEN - Has two good runner-up berths in last three starts and

the boil and no threat
6. ETINCELLE DE FEU - Undeniably talented but still very delicate. Sanctioned
in all three this winter but is first time barefoot which may prove key to her
redemption
7. EXUBERANTE - Erratic but has pleased in two of three this meeting. Races
over longer this time and should not be too far off the mark
8. ERNESTINA - Decent sort that has shown a liking for the venue but is shod for
first appearance in four months and best to monitor
9. ERMINE D'EBANE - Complicated but has won the last four races in which she
has maintained stride - latterly with ease under these conditions - and could well
repeat
10. ENERGIE JENILOU - Showed a different side to herself when barefoot last
summer. Unseen since but has shoes off for comeback and if fit can make a big

11. EXTREME VRIE - Has never shown any particular liking for Cagnes. Has a
superb entry though and with Raffin in charge could pleasantly surprise

A mare with considerable ability (9) ERMINE D'EBANE is never far from losing
her action but she is unbeaten over course and distance and can maintain her
perfect Cagnes run. (6) ETINCELLE DE FEU is another tricky type but has
shown her quality on numerous occasions and going first time barefoot could
make all the difference. Good winner when shod at Cordemais a month ago (3)
EMERAUDE DU VIF has shoes off for her debut at the venue and looks a player.
A close second on her only Cagnes start (4) ESCAPADE DU DIGEON deserves
to be taken seriously.

form. Steps marginally up in class but can get a look in

and can be ruled out
5. DENICHEUR DU VIF - Got back down to business with an impressive Class D
course and distance win eight days ago and a similar effort could see him double
his money
6. BELCANTO GENTIL - Seen more often this winter in the amateur division.
Failed to produce the goods on recent Cagnes debut but with different tactics will
be more competitive
7. DUARTE - Delicate but has bags of ability. Goes barefoot after prepping shod
at Vivaux and with application can win this
8. COCO D'ARGENT - Useful sort and currently in decent shape. Appreciates
these conditions but at this level no more than a minor place chance
9. BOUGNAT - Versatile type that seldom disappoints when barefoot. Currently
on an excellent run and even though in better company this time must be
respected
10. CYRANO D'IDOLE - Just one blip on his formsheet since the autumn. Failed
to fire last time here but is in his category and can make amends
11. DESIR DU BOIS - On a superb run since returning to racing barefoot. Twice
went close here before imposing in Paris two weeks ago and can repeat
12. BOLIDE DES CHAMPS - Fine campaigner with a decent Cagnes record.
Unraced for three months but still capable of getting in on the action
13. BLEUET DES BOIS - Moderate sort making first appearance for nine months
and can be passed over

Summary

Something of an open contest this with a number in contention but one might
timidly go for the complicated but fresh (7) DUARTE who is barefoot for her first
real test of the winter. Y-A Briand will however want to keep an eye on the
reinvigorated (11) DESIR DU BOIS who won a tough race at Vincennes two

weeks ago and with whom Eric Raffin has maintained faith. (5) DENICHEUR DU
VIF won like a good thing over course and distance eight days ago and again
looks competitively well in. Winner of an autostart event here last time out (1)
DESIR PRINCIER is a real Cagnes horse and should not be far off the mark.

DJANGO DU BOCAGE recently. Goes barefoot on this occasion and looks

4. DAUPHIN ROYAL - Has bags of ability but out of the picture in last three. Back
to racing unshod behind and if applied should not be too far off the mark
5. DJANGO DU BOCAGE - Complicated but very impressive since the autumn.
Trotted third in a good Class B here last week and can challenge for the win
6. DARWIN MAZA - Hardy sort that regularly gives his best. Trotted third to (13)
COYOTE SLY last time and can again get in on the action
7. CALICOT DU VIVIER - Not without merit but has done little of exception for
some time. Showed improvement at Vivaux on Monday though and with
application can get back in the game
8. CENTAURE GEDE - As consistent as they come over recent months. Is
confirmed here but unraced since early December and with shoes on will have
little to offer
9. COCHISE GRIFF - A complete write-off since returning in the autumn and has
no realistic chance
10. EPONA DU PASSAGE - Decent class of mare dropping back in category
after some moderate runs in Paris. Should appreciate the Cagnes profile and will
have her chances
11. ECUREUIL JENILOU - Erratic but has won two of his last three - including
comfortably over the distance here - and can repeat
12. DUSTY WOOD - Decent dual-discipline trotter with a good Cagnes record.
Can prove a handful but in current form is hard to ignore
13. COYOTE SLY - Serious type when racing barefoot. Won a Class E over
course and distance mid-month and looks a serious prospect
14. CAPTAIN LYL - Moderate sort that has done little of note for some time and
backs up after four days with limited ambition

Stylish winner under these conditions late last month (11) ECUREUIL JENILOU

has since repeated in Paris and and looks eminently capable of picking up
another victory. Junod can nevertheless expect to encounter resistance from the
in-form and talented (5) DJANGO DU BOCAGE whose recent Cagnes debut did
not go without notice. Clearly in form and recently a winner over course and
distance (13) COYOTE SLY is in better company this time but still has the
wherewithal to make the frame. The temperamental (2) DO IT AGAIN seldom
disappoints here when behaved and will have his chances.

level. Thrashed in last two and will have few takers
6. ESOVO - Clearly capable but frequently indisciplined. Associated with a
leading driver this time and must not be underestimated
7. ESPOIR DE L'ITON - 37 starts and not a win to his name. Completely out of
the picture since last summer and no threat
8. ETNA POLE - Just one win to his name in 26 starts and latest results
insufficient to be considered a contender
9. ESPOIR DES OMBRES - Sanctioned here last time out but otherwise in
excellent shape. Arguably better over shorter but with application can go far

thumbs-up for latest effort here when barefoot for first time. Has previously won
over this trip and can do so again

considerable improvement
12. EPINARD DES MIRES - Has shown a different side since starting to race
without hind shoes. Winner of his last two and although stepping up in class still
looks a serious player
13. ELVIS DES PIGNES - Has done little of note since last summer. Is not
without ability but frequently loses his action and others preferred
14. ELIAS CLASSIQUE - Moderate sort making first appearance for two months.
Has placed just twice in 11 starts here but could yet get a look in

(10) EXODE ROYAL produced an excellent finish over shorter here two weeks
ago behind a horse who has since repeated and if he does not pull too hard over
this longer trip could well put paid to the hat-trick chances of David Cinier's
excellent recruit (12) EPINARD DES MIRES. Winner over shorter here late
December (9) ESPOIR DES OMBRES lost his action early next time but will
have a big part to play if he can get off on the right foot. Although a tricky horse to

Highly impressive at the end of last season (6) ESPOIR DU MARNY prepped
very nicely for this event under the saddle and returns to his code of preference
with every chance of opening his 2019 account. Solid winner over longer here
eight days ago (13) ESPOIR PERMIS has been handed a tough draw this time
but can still give the selection a run for his money. (5) EMENCOURT BLEQUIN
imposed over course and distance last month and from the 5-spot looks
competitively well in. Already twice a winner at the venue (3) DESIR DES
CAILLONS gets an Eric Raffin drive this time and can make up for his recent
disappointment. The in-form (12) EMIR D'YVEL goes over any trip but the draw
relegates him to a minor place chance on this occasion.

6. FUNKY GIRL - Ended last season on a low note but back at her best with two
straight course and distance wins. Is barefoot on the front line and can pull off the
hat-trick
7. FAMILLE ROYALE - Showed improvement when 5th in the race of reference.
Hind shoes off again but from the second row no more than a minor place

8. FAST DOMINO - Delicate but has ample ability. Fourth to (6) FUNKY GIRL
here last time but on the second line on this occasion. Goes barefoot though and
can challenge for a place on the podium

Starts on the second line but still deserves to be taken seriously
10. BAHIA DE BOUGY - Has demonstrated decent consistency of late.
Sanctioned here mid-month but on good behaviour can play a role
11. CIRRUS DE BANVILLE - Good consistent campaigner for the most part.
Drops in category after his recent clinker and even though shod can get a look in
12. ANNA DU PERRE - Mixes the good with the less good but showed
improvement here last weekend. Not ideally drawn but one to note all the same

Summary

Blessed with a good turn of foot and very effective over these shorter trips (5)
CYAN JICEE drops back down the class ladder and is sufficiently well-positioned
to impose. Although uninspiring in his last two (8) BEST JENILOU has never
disappointed over 2150m here and can give the selection a run for his money. (9)
COTE OUEST needs to reassure but on a good day is better than most here and
must be afforded respect. (2) BELLE DES GOSSETS may be untried at the
venue but she has decent references in better company and from the 2-spot will
have her chances.
