Pathways is the first in a sequence of four interactions that aim to support youth in Mid Canterbury in identifying their pathway, and to prepare them with the attributes essential to successfully entering the workforce and our community. Pathways is designed to expose youth, parents and caregivers to the careers, recreational activities and support available to youth in Mid Canterbury.
To supplement the Pathways experience and encourage curiosity and exploration, students are given workbooks to work through during school that support the programme through activities. Each year level has a different objective as detailed below: Year 9 Initial exposure to programme and careers Year 10 Encourage curiosity and exploration through a trip into the working environment Year 11 Investigation into who in our district offers careers of interest and begin theory of driver licencing Year 12 Build networks with employers and practical driver licencing We would like to give you the opportunity to advertise the diverse roles your business offers in our student workbooks (example below), from Year 11 students are asked to research which businesses within our Mid Canterbury offer roles they are interested in. The objective is to better educate youth on what opportunities are available in Mid Canterbury and where to find them, and to raise money to provide the My Next Move Mid Canterbury programme to students. Designing your stand space Space: 3.0m x 3.0m You are required to supply your own furniture for your site (including chairs) and must ensure the feet of tables and chairs are covered to protect the courts. We encourage exhibitors to consider ways to make their stands engaging and interactive. Such exhibitions attract the most visitors on the day and help to enhance the overall visitor’s experience. So, it is important to plan your space ahead of time to get the return on your investment. Many exhibitors will engage with creative agencies to design their space. For those with smaller budgets, there are some simple and inexpensive ways to ensure your stand is engaging: Professional banners or signage to display your organisation's name and key messages Vibrant and energetic staff that will reflect your brand well and engage with the, mostly teenager, audience Furniture designed to enhance your visitor interactions i.e. tables so you can share information together perhaps sofas and ben bags to encourage visitors to stay longer Computer or tablets to play presentations, videos or photos on a loop- please be mindful of neighbouring exhibitors for noise level. You will need to provide a tagged cord Flyers or other promotional material so visitors can take information home to read. While we encourage exciting and interactive displays, we do ask that you keep safety and the consideration of other exhibitors in mind when planning your stand activation. The Pathways 2021 management must be notified prior to the events, should you wish to bring: Large or potentially risky machinery Live animals Give away items. Lollies are strictly forbidden. Any items/ activity that needs prior approval of venue management The Pathways 2021 management reserves the right to refuse requests deemed to be unsafe or distracting to other exhibitors so please discuss your requirements with us prior to the event.
