PARTICIPANT GUIDE | JANUARY 26, 2019 GENERAL INFORMATION About The vineyard vines Half Marathon at Pebble Beach® Welcome to the second vineyard vines Half Marathon at Pebble Beach®, 10k and 5k - a luxury destination race at California’s premier luxury resort destination! This event is one of more than 20 marathon and half marathon races produced by Capstone Event Group and is one of four luxury destination races within the Resort Races Collection. The vineyard vines Half Marathon at Pebble Beach®, 10k and 5k is the first race to run exclusively on 17-Mile Drive® since it was first opened in 1881. You will run along one of the most scenic drives in the world where dramatic coastal cliffs, snow-white beaches, mystical forests, and iconic golf courses will greet you along the way. Celebrate with a bottomless vineyard vines Champagne Brunch and party in fitting Pebble Beach style at The Inn at Spanish Bay®. We hope you enjoy your race weekend experience and wish you the best of luck on Race Day! Race Weekend Timeline Friday, January 25 4pm-6pm - Pre-Race Packet Pick-Up - Packet pickup for all runners will be held in the at The Inn at Spanish Bay®. Please see page 4 for complete details. Saturday, January 26 5:00am - 7:00am Race day shuttles will run between The Inn at Spanish Bay® and the start line 5:30am-6:30am - Gear check will be available next to the Customer Service table at start line 5:30am - 6:30am - Race day Packet Pick-up at the Customer Service table at the start line, near the Spanish Bay beach access off 17-Mile Drive®, west of the main entrance to the resort 7:15am - Half Marathon, 10K and 5K start 8:00am - 11:30am - vineyard vines Champagne Brunch at The Inn at Spanish Bay® North Lawn • Follow signage up boardwalk from finish to the vineyard vines Champagne Brunch (Ticket required) • Shuttles will also be provided from the finish line to The Inn at Spanish Bay® 9:15am - Overall awards announced for the 10k and 5k 10:00am - Overall awards announced for the half marathon 3 2019 OFFICIAL RACE GUIDE
PARTICIPANT GUIDE | JANUARY 26, 2019 Race Rules & Regulations Can I wear headphones? It is unsafe to wear headphones while running. Event organizers will not restrict headphone use and leave it up to the athlete on his/her ability to follow direction while wearing headphone devices. If you do choose to wear headphones, please keep the volume level down so you are able to hear and follow the direction of course volunteers. Can someone else run in my place? No, you are not allowed to transfer bib numbers to another person. Can I register on race day? Yes, if you are a guest at the resort, you may register at packet pick-up or online on race day up until packet pick-up ends. If you plan to register either in person or online on race day, be sure to leave time to pick up your race bib by the time pack pick-up ends. Am I allowed to walk? Yes, however, you must meet the requirements of the completing the race by 11:00am. Are baby joggers, strollers or pets allowed during the race? No, this is to ensure runner safety and comply with liability insurance policies. Is there gear check? Gear check will be available at Customer Service table at the start line, near the Spanish Bay beach access off 17-Mile Drive®, west of the main entrance to the resort. The race will finish in the same location, so all bags will be ready at the finish line for runners to pick up after their race. Bags for belongings will be provided at the gear check table. PACKET PICK-UP When and Where • Friday, January 25: 4pm-6pm - All runners will be able to pick up at The Inn at Spanish Bay® (2700 17 Mile Dr, Pebble Beach, CA 93953) -All runners will enter The Inn at Spanish Bay®, turn right and follow the signs for packet pick-up. Our staff will be stationed at the Group Desk to assist with bib pick up and race questions. • Saturday, January 26 (Race Day): 5:30am-6:30am at the Customer Service tent near the start line, near the Spanish Bay beach access off 17-Mile Drive®, west of the main entrance to the resort. 4 2019 OFFICIAL RACE GUIDE
PARTICIPANT GUIDE | JANUARY 26, 2019 Switching Race Distances To change your race distance, please contact info@resortraces.com. Once packet pick-up begins, you will need to change your distance in person at packet pick-up. RACE MORNING: PRE-RACE Getting to the Start Line The race will start on resort property, at the Spanish Bay beach access off 17-Mile Drive®, west of the main entrance to the resort. The start line is located at 2700 17 Mile Dr, Pebble Beach, CA 93953. Shuttles Hotel guests will not need to drive to the start line as shuttles will be running race morning from the Inn at Spanish Bay to the start line between 5:30am - 7am. Shuttles will also run Post-Race between 8:00am - 11:30am from the finish line to The Inn at Spanish Bay®. Gear Check Gear check will be available race morning from 5:30am - 6:30am near the start area at the Click the image to view a larger version of the parking map. Bibs Please wear your race bib on the front of your shirt or the front of your shorts. Please do not bend or fold the timing chip (on the back of your bib)! PARTICIPANT GUIDE | JANUARY 26, 2019 Hydration Stations There will be plenty of hydration stations along the course. Restrooms are marked on the course map above and will be marked with signage along the course. Important Course Information All three distances will start and finish in the same location but the courses will differ on the route. You can review the course map, turn-by-turn directions, and course preview video online at halfmarathonatpebblebeach.com. • The race will start at the beautiful Spanish Bay beach access, which is off right off 17-Mile Drive®, west of the main entrance to the Pebble Beach Resort® • All resort staff will be able to help direct runners to the appropriate location • The half marathon, 10k, and 5k will enjoy a run along the historic 17-Mile Drive® • All distances will have clearly marked signage, and course monitors will be spaced throughout the course to help runners navigate it correctly. Do not hesitate to ask the course monitors which way to go if you are unsure! Time Limits All runners must be finished by 11:00am. Half marathon, 10k and 5k runners will have 3:45 to complete the race. The vineyard vines Champagne Brunch will be held at The Inn at Spanish Bay® from 8:00am-11:30am. Medical Support Medical support will be on site for the duration of the event, including at the finish line for all runners who may require attention. Recommended Spectator Locations Spectators will be able to view the Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k at the start and finish line at the Spanish Bay beach access off 17-Mile Drive®. The Half Marathon and 10k will can be viewed at Blue Rock Vista Point (access via Blue Rock Rd). Half Marathon runners can also be viewed at the corner of Alva and Portola (access from Stevenson Dr and head west on Portola). If you are spectating, please be respectful of all runners and be careful to allows runners the right of way at all times along the course. Please remember that spectators must purchase a ticket by January 23 to be admitted entrance to the post-race party and vineyard vines Champagne Brunch. 7 2019 OFFICIAL RACE GUIDE
PARTICIPANT GUIDE | JANUARY 26, 2019 AFTER THE RACE Finisher Medals Every half marathon, 10k and 5k finisher will be presented with a finisher medal after they cross the finish line! Awards Overall awards for the 10k and 5k will be announced on the stage at 9:15am. Overall awards for the half marathon will be announced at 10:00am on the stage, Winners must be present to receive their prize; awards will not be mailed out. PARTICIPANT GUIDE | JANUARY 26, 2019 Post-Race Party and vineyard vines Champagne Brunch After your race, you can relax and enjoy the food and beverages while celebrating at The Inn at Spanish Bay® with a delicious vineyard vines Champagne Brunch prepared by Pebble Beach®’s exquisite culinary team, and more. The post-race party will be held from 8:00am-11:30am. The vineyard vines Champagne Brunch will be held at The Inn at Spanish Bay® North Lawn. Follow signage up the boardwalk from finish to the vineyard vines Champagne Brunch. Purchase additional post-race party tickets here by January 23rd. Please be sure to have your ID on you to enjoy the champagne and beer. PARTICIPANT GUIDE | JANUARY 26, 2019 Results Results will be posted in real time online to halfmarathonatpebblebeach.com during the race, and all runners will receive a email with the link to the results page after to finishing the race. Results will also be available at the results table at the finish line. Participant Photos Professional photographers will be along the course as well as at the start and finish area to take pictures of every runner throughout the race. A link to purchase and view photos will be emailed to you from our photographer within 7-10 days of the race. Post-Race Survey You will receive a link to complete a post-race survey within a few days after the race.
