“As a result of this course I will be a much safer surgeon, and confident in my approaches to the pelvis.” – 2017 course attendee Hone your surgical skills for treating complex pelvic and acetabular fractures! Fractures of the pelvis can be a significant cause of patient morbidity and mortality. Timely, effective intervention can be lifesaving, but the appropriate treatment of such fractures is dependent on a thorough understanding of the anatomic features of the pelvic region. The management of each patient requires careful, individualized decision-making. During this robust skills course, you’ll spend the majority of your time in the state-of-the-art, hands-on cadaver lab learning the appropriate usage and placement of clamps for reduction, as well as fixation devices for each specific fracture type. Compelling academic lectures, debates, and surgical demonstrations round out your course experience. New this year, registrants will be given access to cases in advance and asked to prepare their pre- operative plan to be discussed in detail at the course. Learn the best strategies for preventing complications, including: •• Blood loss •• Infection •• Malreduction •• Thromboembolism •• Intra-articular screws •• Post-traumatic hip arthritis •• Nerve injury •• Heterotopic ossification Who should take this course?
