New York CityOverview The Pancreas Symposium 2018 program will review current controversies and procedures for managing benign pancreatic disease. Acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cysts are among the most complex cases that physicians are confronted with as internists, gastroenterologists and surgeons. Our internationally recognized faculty will present lectures and case presentations to help practicing physicians treat benign pancreatic disease. We are proud to have this symposium co-sponsored by The National Pancreas Foundation. Learning Objectives •D iscuss current evidence-based guidelines for the surgical and endoscopic management of acute pancreatitis • Explain how to diagnose and treat pancreatic insufficiency • Recognize special considerations for pediatric pancreatitis •D iscuss the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis and when to refer patients for total pancreatectomy with autologous islet cell transplantation • Identify new and enhanced imaging techniques of the pancreas • Describe the role for biomarkers in chronic pancreatitis •E xplain how to diagnose and manage autoimmune pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic neoplasms and incidentally found pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors • Describe the physiology of pain in pancreatitis • I dentify new techniques in endoscopic ablation of select pancreatic lesions • Assess the role for prevention in pancreatic disease Target Audience This activity is designed for gastroenterologists, surgeons, internists, radiologists, pathologists, RNs, PAs, NPs and other medical professionals involved in the evaluation, diagnosis and/or management of patients with benign pancreatic disease. Support We expect support for this program through grants from pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
