YOUR O.A.T. ADVENTURE TRAVEL PLANNING GUIDE® PREPARED ESPECIALLY FOR: Traveler Turkish Coastal Voyage: Greek Islands, Istanbul & Athens 2022 Small Groups: 20-25 travelers—guaranteed! (average of 22) ® Overseas Adventure Travel The Leader in Personalized Small Group Adventures on the Road Less Traveled 1
Dear Traveler, I can’t wait to see where my next journey will take me. I know you’re eager to explore the world, too, and our Turkish Coastal Voyage: Greek Islands, Istanbul & Athens itinerary described inside is a perfect start. Exactly how your adventure unfolds is up to you, because you can personalize and tailor your experience any way you want. Arrive early in the first destination of your adventure, stay later in the last destination, add a pre- or post-trip extension, spend time in a Stopover city, or even combine 2 or more trips. More than 87% of our travelers choose to tailor their adventure. Also, because we’re the leader in Solo Women Travel, we’re offering 15 exclusive women’s departures in 2022. As for Turkish Coastal Voyage: Greek Islands, Istanbul & Athens, thanks to your small group of 20-25 travelers (average 22) you can expect some unforgettable experiences. Here’s one that stood out for me: As I explored the ruins of Ephesus, I felt a deep connection with this ancient city and the 300,000 Roman people who called it home. Steeped in traditions and myths, the legendary city once boasted one of the most colossal temples ever built, the Temple of Artemis—one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. But what struck me the most was the beauty of its impermanence. This once-grandiose temple was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times throughout history, each era leaving its mark upon this place. History aside, I was really moved by the stories of the local people who live here now. You’ll meet them, too, and hear their personal experiences when you speak with a feminist activist about the erosion of women’s rights in Turkey at a local café in Istanbul. I was saddened to hear her stories of how discrimination against women has risen in the past 15 years, but ultimately I remain hopeful that the steps she and others are taking will reverse the trend. So you’ll experience the true culture, we don’t shy away from controversial topics. Plus, we make sure all our Trip Experience Leaders are “insiders” who live in the country. You may be nudged out of your comfort zone, but you will also be inspired by the wonderful people you meet. Thanks for letting me dream along with you about this Turkish Coastal Voyage: Greek Islands, Istanbul & Athens.
