AROUND THE YARDS Naming of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills On September 30, 2015, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, a newly converted FPSO, was officially christened by Lady Sponsor, Her Excellency Mrs Lordina Mahama, First Lady of the Republic of Ghana. The ceremony, at Sembcorp Marine Tanjong Kling Yard, was attended by senior government ministers from Ghana, as well as senior management from MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore), Tullow Oil and other companies involved in the project. Sembcorp Marine completed the repair, life extension and conversion Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, a newly converted FPSO for Tullow Oil of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills from a VLCC into an FPSO as part of the TEN Development Project. This marked a grand total of 22 conversion and upgrading projects for FPSOs and floaters that Sembcorp Marine has completed for regular customer MODEC. The TEN FPSO has a capacity of production and treatment of 80,000 bpd of crude oil, 65,000 bpd of produced water, and 180 MMscfd of gas, with an onboard storage capacity of 1.7 million barrels. Opening of Hull Workshop SCM NEWS On November 3, 2015, Sembcorp Marine launched its new state-of-the-art steel structure fabrication workshop — the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. The 120,000 sqm facility operates with a streamlined process that optimises production efficiency and reduces man-hours and production time to half of previous process requirements for every tonne of steel fabricated. Ergonomically designed to facilitate a seamless work flow, the workshop comprises five bays for pre- treatment, cutting and assembly. Housed in Phase II of the Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard, the facility will be the central kitchen for steel fabrication. WSH Awards 2015 SCM NEWS Sembcorp Marine’s yards continued to demonstrate excellence and commitment to workplace safety and health (WSH) by clinching a total of 29 honours at the 2015 WSH Awards. OTC Houston 2015 SCM NEWS Sembcorp Marine showcased its capabilities as a leader in integrated offshore and marine engineering solutions at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2015. The annual event was held in Houston, USA, from May 4 to 7 at NRG Park. OTC is the world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources and showcases leading-edge technology for offshore drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection. In 2015, almost 95,000 attendees from 130 countries gathered at the conference to participate in panel sessions as well as keynote and technical paper presentations. Nor-Shipping 2015 SCM NEWS Sembcorp Marine further strengthened its international profile and business networks at Nor-Shipping 2015 from June 2 to 5, in Oslo, Norway. Over 32,000 delegates and visitors from approximately 80 countries attended the 50th edition of Nor-Shipping, which had over 990 exhibiting companies and 20 national pavilions. The leading maritime event is a biennial weeklong exhibition and conference that provides Minister for Transport, Mr Lui Tuck Yew (centre), opening the Singapore Pavilion the platform for the maritime world to explore forward-thinking initiatives. Held from October 27 to 30 at the Singapore EXPO, the leading oil and gas event was a meeting place for energy professionals across the globe. Celebrating SG50 HAPPENINGS On the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence, Sembcorp Marine was once again a proud participant and sponsor of this special edition of the National Day Parade (NDP). This year’s NDP took place at the Padang, a site of significance given its use as the location of Singapore’s very first NDP 50 years ago. SchoolBAG 2015 HAPPENINGS Sembcorp Marine marked the 15th anniversary of its School Book Assistance Grant (SchoolBAG) programme, with $256,000 going to 1,250 primary, secondary and junior college students in 2015. Student recipients of the 2015 SchoolBAG grants with Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Tan Chuan-Jin Over 17,500 students have benefited from SchoolBAG since 2001.
