MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parent/Caregiver, First and foremost, thank you for your ongoing support through these challenging times. Our students’ ongoing education and learning is at the forefront of our thinking. We will continue to work in partnership with you in order to deliver an education program that enables students to develop their skills and understandings through the provided curriculum. The following package outlines student and teacher expectations for online learning, and how you as a parent/caregiver can support your child with their online learning experiences. These experiences will offer an opportunity to be creative, develop skills in the use of technology, stay connected with their peers and teachers, and maintain the routine and structure that will allow our students to stay connected with their learning. Regards, Joanne Costa Principal Tuesday 1 April, 2020 Page | 3

SACE and Expectations for Online Learning Staff at Modbury High School are currently working very hard to ensure that the teaching and learning opportunities for Stage 1 and 2 students consistently remain moving forward. These expectations have not changed since the beginning of this year. As we are now moving into an online format for the delivery of the teaching and learning, we wanted to take this opportunity to reinforce learning and assessment expectations for Stage 1 and 2 students. The Chief Executive of SACE Board, Professor Martin Westwell, has recently released a series of videos reassuring teachers, caregivers and students regarding SACE Completion. These videos are available via the following links: https://www.sace.sa.edu.au/covid-19-coronavirus/for-students (Thursday 19 March) https://youtu.be/LeljzuMvBCg (Tuesday 31 March - answering questions re Stage 2 about SACE, SATAC, ATAR, end of year exams) Our teachers will be providing lessons online and making resources available to all students. It is imperative that for all SACE students, they: Attend all lessons as required in accordance with their timetable Engage in the learning provided during the lessons – this will provide feedback for the teacher around understanding of the learning Communicate regularly with teachers to maintain subject clarity Meet subject expectations and assessment requirements by the set due date Provide a Medical Certificate or other evidence if a due date cannot be met Teachers and Learning Area Coordinators will be monitoring closely the progress of the students. We are seeking the support of parents/caregivers in supporting and reinforcing our expectations with their students regarding their learning, assessment requirements and due dates. For subjects that have an exam, the SACE Board have stated that all exams will go ahead. Page | 12
