Onboard Wine and Food Events Reserve Your Wine and Food Events The information here is for you to reserve your food and wine events onboard Oceania Riviera. As part of your cruise you are entitled to the following: 1. Welcome Onboard Reception 2. Complimentary Wine Dinner 3. International Wine Tasting Event featuring the medal winning wines from the Sunset Wine Competition. 4. Food – Wine Pairing Event on August 6th or 11th. There are choices of specific dates and times for these events. It will be important for you to select your choices so you may also plan additional activities available, both onboard the cruise and on shore. In addition, there are also optional wine events available to you. These optional events are listed in this document. Complimentary Wine Events (Descriptions) 1. Welcome Onboard Party August 5th Join us in Horizons Lounge at 6:30 pm for a Welcome Onboard Party. We will enjoy the Barcelona skyline as we get to know one another. 2. Complimentary Wine Dinner in Polo Grill August 5th, 6th, or 7th Everyone will enjoy a great five course dinner one evening in Polo Grill. We will pair each food course with a great wine from Sonoma or Napa Valley. 3. International Sunset Wine Competition Tasting Event August 6th 2:00 – 4:00 pm You will have the opportunity to taste over 50 medal winning wines from around the world. We have tasting stations around the ship. Come taste the best wine from this international wine competition. 4. Food – Wine Pairing Seminar August 6th or August 11th Join Sarah Schneider and Margo True on a journey of food and wine as they guide you through some regional dishes and Sara will make wine recommendations. Along the way you will get to taste the wine and sample the recipes. 5. 10,000 Years of Wine History in 60 Minutes August 7th Join wine expert and author Paul Wagner as he guides you through the history of wine in 60 minutes. A brief History of Wine from Babylon to James Bond: 10,000 years of wine history in 60 minutes. In this highly entertaining lecture, Paul Wagner follows the story of wine from its origins in the Caucasus Mountains through the important cultures of the world, and uncovers some of the fascinating connections between those cultures and our perceptions of wine today. 6. Wine and Art – A Cultural History August 8th Paul Wagner, noted wine educator, wine judge and author brings you an exciting presentation. Wine has inspired artists for millennia, and artists have repaid the favor by making wine a theme in their work through every major cultural period. This lecture explores how wine has not only influenced artists, but given them the subject material for some of their most important work. Some these complimentary events are capacity controlled and require you to make reservations. Please use the link to the reservation form. Optional Wine Events (Descriptions) Sunset Wine Seminars There are six optional wine seminars available that you can attend. These wine seminars are all capacity controlled and require advance reservations. Please use the sign up form link to make your reservations. Top California Cabernets August 6th 4:00 – 5:30 pm Price $99 This tasting is a small group seminar exploring some of the more iconic Cabernet Sauvignons or red wine blends from California. This seminar is limited to twenty participants. Sara Schneider and Paul Wagner will lead you through these California Cabernets. Wine Tour of Sonoma County Join Sunset wine editor, Sara Schneider, on a tour of Sonoma County AVA’s by glass. We have outstanding wines from Alexander Valley, Sonoma Valley, Carneros, Russian River, Moon Mountain, and Dry Creek Valley. Sara will share her knowledge of Sonoma County and why some the finest wines of the world come from this region. August 7th 3:00 – 4:30 Price $39 Bubbles from around the World Sample sparkling wines from around the world, and learn the different methods of producing great sparkling wines. We will have sparkling wines from France, Spain, Italy and the United States. Featuring 2004 Dom Perignon Vintage Champagne. August 8th 10:30 – Noon Price $59 Napa Rocks and so do the Wines Join wine expert Paul Wagner as he gives you all the insights about Napa Valley. He will explain why Napa Valley produces many of the great wines of the world. You will taste your way through many of the special Napa Valley wine areas. August 8th 3:00 – 4:30 Price $39 The Pacific Northwest and its Wines Join Sara Schneider and taste some of her favorite wines from Oregon and Washington. This tour by glass of the Pacific Northwest will amaze you with spectacular wines. Some of the best wines in the United States are from this spectacular wine region. Great Red Wines of the World Join wine expert Paul Wagner as he guides you through a multitude of great wines from outside the United States. This is a small group tasting for only 20 people. Wines from Bordeaux, Spain, Africa, and Australia are all featured in this unique wine seminar. August 11th 3:00 – 4:30 Price $99 Sunset Culinary Classes with Sunset Food Editor, Margo True For those enthusiasts seeking enlightenment beyond that found in a library or a lecture, Riviera offers the only custom-designed and truly hands-on cooking school at Sea. At The Culinary Center, you will learn how to prepare a variety of exquisite dishes at your own fully equipped workstation in a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen. Sunset’s own food editor, Margo True, and the chefs from Oceania will offer guidance and inspiration to fine-tune your techniques, but you will actually prepare the dishes yourself. It’s the ultimate way to learn and truly absorb every step of each recipe. Classes are limited to 24 people. Special Winemaker Dinners There are four additional wine dinners available to you in the evening. Each dinner is capacity controlled and sold on a first come basis. The dinners will be held in two of the alternative restaurants, Jacques and Toscana. Each dinner will be hosted by one of our wine experts, Sara Schneider or Paul Wagner. California Favorites Sample some of our wine expert’s favorite California wineries in Jacques restaurant. You will see how the marriage of food and wine together makes for an extraordinary dining experience. Five course pre-fixed menu. August 8th Price $69 Wine Gems from California Great California Wine Regions abound. You will be surprised at the quality of wines that come from areas like Livermore, Paso Robles, Lodi, Amador County and Mendocino County. The wines will amaze you and so will the food from Jacques. August 9th Price $69 The Magic of Dust – Rutherford Dust Great wines from Napa Valley’s Rutherford AVA will be combined with the great food from Oceania’s Toscana restaurant for a sensational evening of great food, wine and stories from this fabled Napa Valley region. The Wines of Italy Join the Sunset team as we celebrate our last evening in Italy. Some of the great wines from Italy will be paired with the Italian food from Toscana for a special farewell dinner. Join Paul Wagner and Sara Schneider as they share some of their favorite Italian wines. August 11th Price $69 Terms and Conditions: Onboard Events Rates are per person for events and are subject to availability. Full payment for optional events is due upon confirmation and is refundable less a processing fee until 14 days prior to departure. If the event you request is not available, we encourage a waitlist. All events are capacity controlled and subject to change. In the event an optional event is cancelled by Expedia CruiseShipCenters Northbay (ECSC) for any reason, you will receive a full refund. ECSC reserves the right to change the date or time of events if/when required by the cruise line or other unforeseen circumstances. ECSC is not responsible for changes or modifications outside of our control. Complimentary events have no cash value.
