Agriculture Awareness 2020, 2021 Presidents Message Submitted by Russ Marquart,CFE As the fair season has come to a close, and we move Our Ag Awareness project program is back on track. We have completed the 1st on to our fall and winter festivities, I am thankful. Thankful to year of our currently 4 year rotation. We also have witnessed the evolution of the term Fair Strong as has played a bit of catch up for those Fairs that become much more than a tagline or turn of phrase. This we unable to showcase their effort due to year, our fairs demonstrated what it means to be Fair Strong. the cancellation of Fairs in 2020. We look forward to reflecting on our experiences and put things together. While some were unable sharing our learning. As we move forward into 2022, we will feature 13 Fairs with exciting and creative projects. The eligible Fairs in 2022 will be notified in October as to their desire to par- ticipate. I look forward to visiting many of the Fairs in 2022 as we continue our efforts to provide the funds to assist with or provide the incentive to continue to showcase the great things our County Fairs offer the public. I look forward to memorable Fairs in the future. Fair Managers Meeting The NY Fair Managers meeting took place, Saturday, September 11th. The meeting was hosted by President Harold Smith of the Oswego County Fair. Speakers included Mark James, NY Farm Bureau, Michelle Foresight, Hemlock Haven Tree Farm, Andrew Van Depopulle, Haas & Wilkerson Insurance, Kyle Gehrke, County Belle Farm, and the Girl Scouts of Central Square. A delicious meal was provided by the folks from the Oswego County Fair. The fol- lowing officers were elected to represent the organization for 2022. They are President Mike Reese, Chemung County Fair, Vice President, Rhonda Barriger, Afton Fair and Gerry Elthorp, Secretary/Treasurer, Herkimer County Fair.
