PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings Everyone.
Laura and I had a great 16 day road trip in our R-Pod travel trailer
through California, Utah, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona
to visit our daughters.
We had a wonderful “Tour B” on Saturday June 12th with 2 groups of
gleaming Porsches. Group 1 led by Dave Nichols and Group 2 by my-
self. Could not have asked for better weather and road conditions on our
spirited run. A post tour dinner was enjoyed by all at the Woodside Grill
in Anderson.
If you have not been on one of our monthly driving tours, you are in-
deed missing a great way to get your Porsche out on the road and be en-
joyed. Practice safe driving skills, meet fellow members, socialize, behold our wonderful northern
California scenery, and then your membership in the club becomes more than a placeholder for
you to brag about.
Had a nice turnout at our first social dinner in more than a year at the Gaia Hotel’s Woodside Grill
in Anderson. It was a way to share stories and get reacquainted. Can’t wait to see more of your
smiling faces at our next dinner.

The second Leg of the Shasta Region 2021 Zone 7 Tour (so-
called "Route Loop B") was held on Saturday, June 12th. Nine-
teen Porsches with 33 Participants from five of the Regions of
Zone 7 gathered at the Gaia Hotel and Resort in Shasta County.
The route was five and one half hours and 240 miles in length,
traversing three Northern California Counties. The area was the
Northeastern portion of these counties. Most of it was on
SR299W, SR 3 and the portion of I-5 through Lake Shasta. .
Drive time was a little over 5 hours.
Lunch was a choice of items from Bob's Road House in the little
borough of Etna. Etna is nestled in the Scott Valley of Siskiyou
County--a farming area for livestock and alfalfa. It is surround-
ed by the Trinity and Siskiyou Alps. The Pacific Crest Trail
runs right along side of it.
Heading East over Gazelle Mountain into Shasta Valley, we
were treated to a breath-taking view of the north side of the
14,200 foot Mount Shasta. This year, due to the drought, it was
nearly devoid of snow and its glaciers. However, a ring of
clouds surrounded the summit, as though it was wearing a hat--
quite a sight.
From there, we headed South on Interstate 5 through what is
(arguably) the most scenic part of the highway's 2000 mile
course--around the mountain and through the valleys of Shasta
Lake. For "safety's sake," we drive our caravan, as though it's a
snake, staying in the fast lane for the entire 75 miles. Anyone

that chooses to pass can do so in the right-hand lane. It doesn't
sound challenging, but maintaining speed, distance and lane posi-
tion through 75 miles of turns and hills in a group of high perfor-
mance cars is a true skill….
A quick break, change of clothes and a nice dinner at the Gaia
Hotel and Resort completed the day for all participants.
The next Tour is the final of the three "Loops"-- Route "C." A
like number of participants are registered for this event on July
10th. It travels Northeast of Redding toward Lassen, Fall River
Mills and Burney Falls.
