SOUTH ASIAN TRAVEL AWARDS Welcome to South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2019, the official event Celebrating the finest of South Asian hospitality. The South Asian Travel Awards is a regional Travel Award endorsed by Multi National Associations providing the Tourism sector of the South Asian Region with recognition towards their facilities and service excellence. The South Asian Travel Awards aims to encourage and raise service standards within the regions of the Tourism industry. The brand is one of its kind with affiliations from regional associations ensuring the process within a smooth and transparent procedure. The judging panel consists of high profile senior representatives selected from destinations with vast knowledge and background of the industry to assure an accurate and fair process. Leading Airport Hotel • Location should be close proximity to the airport or based in the airport. • The product should cater to transit passengers, airline crew and business traffic. • A high percentage of the business should be from long term airline contracts. • Accommodation should cater to the airline crew stay overs providing standards what is required as per international standards for crew stays. • The Hotel should offer special facilities such as Food and Beverage, entertainment, sports activities, REGIONAL AWARDS transportation catering to airline crew. • Give details of other offerings unique to an Airport Hotel.
Leading Ayurveda Resort • Resort offering authentic Ayurveda experiences with a range of treatments. • Average guest length of stay and nationality mix Type of treatments offered, product used for treatments, special Ayurveda health food offered etc. • Specify all other facilities offered and key differentiators against your competition. • Contribution to sustainable tourism • Availability of single and couple treatment rooms. Leading Wellness and Spa Resort • Resort that offer an outstanding experience to visitors and deliver an outstanding and innovative spa, pampering or wellbeing experience in its offerings. • The theme of the property should be based on wellness with operations such as food and beverage based on this concept. • Resort must offer a wide range of spa treatments which will include Ayurveda, Balinese, Thai treatments • A well designed spa center with treatment rooms REGIONAL AWARDS • Availability of qualified local or International spa therapists • Type of treatments offered, product used for treatments, special wellness or health food offered • Details of International and local accolades and certifications received if any • Give details of initiatives taken for environmental sustainability
Leading Business Hotel • Location should be city or near an airport or a vicinity of a business area. • Percentage contribution of the business segment should be higher than 55% to 60%. • The room rate and occupancy should be above average city occupancy rate. • State the Segment and Nationality mix of the hotel • The hotel should have a minimum of 3 room categories including a club / chamber / executive floor. • The design of the property including the rooms should be efficient and practical with facilities required by REGIONAL AWARDS business travelers, including facilities to have small meetings. • Food and Beverage options catering to business segment, availability of bars, 24hrs IRD • Revenue management should play a key role. • RFP's and leading corporate accounts should form part of the business. • State your local star category or accepted level
Leading Meeting and Conference Hotel/Resort • Hotel to be preferably based in a metro city with access to business travelers, providing services of organizing large scale conference / events for minimum of 500 - 1000 pax • Give details of facilities available for large scale conferences including meeting space and equipment. • Give options available for outdoor venues for theme events and entertainments. • Market share of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) business at the hotel. • Details of total inventory, accommodation types etc. REGIONAL AWARDS • Nationality break-up. • Percentage of International / local conference held • Do specify how you enhance the offering offer conference package vs other such properties
Leading Dive Hotel/Resort • Leading dive hotel / resort should be a product which is promoted as a dive property having certified PADI / SSI instructors or master (minimum 2 dive masters for a group of 10pax) and having certified courses available in the property for dive enthusiasts. • The property shall also have scheduled dive trips which the in-house guests can book while staying in the property and can join instead of booking customized private dive charters. Leading Eco-Friendly Resort • Inventory to be less than 75 accommodation units • Resorts that are ecologically sustainable with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that foster environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation. • Must describe how the resort demonstrates excellence in ecotourism and exceeding industry standards for sustainability through the implementation of innovative practices and technologies. • local or international recognitions / certifications REGIONAL AWARDS • Detailed information to be submitted on all local products and the community are engaged in the day to day operations and services of the resort. • Commitment to environment, to benefit from the business to local community. • Partnerships with local or international organizations engaged with on sustainable tourism. • Third party referrals should be a key promoter of the property. • Position the product as an ecofriendly resort. • Facilities, experience offered should reflect environmental friendly. • Information on F&B facilities • Give details of design concept of staff uniforms including material used • Communication and other promotional material should convey the overall concept of the property
Leading F&B Hotel/Resort • Number of accommodation units and other facilities offered • Total number of restaurants, bars available – indoor and outdoor • Food to be an integral part of guest experience. • Hotel providing variety of cuisines combined with best services. • Hotel to have at least 3 specialty restaurants, bars, entertainment facility at the restaurant etc. • The USP’s (Unique Selling Proposition) in comparison to competition. REGIONAL AWARDS • Property should offer authentic local cuisine • Details of F&B promotions done online and offline • Details of food festivals held if any • Information on availability of kid’s menu, health food • Awards / certifications received on food and beverage locally and Internationally.
Leading Family Resort • Position statement should reflect product as a family resort. • Give details of the multiple facilities and services you have on offer catering to the needs of the family segment. • Specify all indoor and outdoor activities available at the property • Experiences, excursions available for your guest to explore the location / destination. • Give details of Food and Beverage concept on offer. REGIONAL AWARDS • Availability of Wellness Center / Spa • Give full details of your kids center including its activities • Percentage contribution from family segment to overall business. • Room inventory must be more than 50 – 75 rooms. • Location - Preferably outside the city, depending on the country. • Specify 5 USP’s which will differentiate you from your competitors
Leading Guest House / Tourist Inn • Product with an inventory of less than 30 accommodation units, maintaining cleanliness and offering basic meals with quality. • The guest house / tourist Inn should have acceptable health and safety standards • Give details of unique offerings you have for your guests during their stay in a Guest House / Tourist Inn • The property should have high involvement / contribution to local community. Leading Bungalow / Villa • Property with an inventory of less than 10 rooms. • The product and service design should be clearly mentioned. • Should cater to high end clientele • Should provide overview of the nature and history of the property. • Guest feedback • Accreditations, awards received if any. Leading Wildlife Lodge • Entrants must demonstrate proven commitment to best practice in protecting and enhancing country's wildlife. • The property should be inside, bordering or in close proximity to the wildlife park. • The theme of the property should match the overall offerings, so should the operational concept and food and beverage. • Local and international accolades and media publicity received. REGIONAL AWARDS • Submit all other relevant information to be nominated as a Leading Wildlife Lodge
Leading Wildlife Tented Camp • Camp operator / Service providers offering nature, eco / wildlife experiences to the guests. • Location to be close proximity to a wildlife area or inside a wildlife park. • Availability of service of a naturalist. • The entire concept should be in open areas. • The number of operational units of such type in the country of operation. • Local and international accolades and awards received if any REGIONAL AWARDS
Most Romantic Resort • Location should be outside city – describe -. • Sense of privacy must prevail from the point of arrival to the departure. • An aura of romance should reflect across all areas of the resort including amenities, F&B options and other experiences - explain Resort designed should be more suitable for couples. The collaterals and other communication materials, including tone of voice etc. should convey the concept. • International accolades and certification received if any REGIONAL AWARDS • Give details of how you market the product online and offline • Is there opportunities to have weddings, renewal of vows ceremonies
Leading Theme Resort • The property should be built, operated and promoted keeping in line with its original design theme. • Explain the entire design theme concept and how it reflects across all service areas • All marketing collaterals and other promotional material should reflect the design concept • List out the room inventory categories and the kind of Food and Beverage outlets offered at the resort • Give details of staff training on how the design concept is inculcated in to the employees to enhance their service level REGIONAL AWARDS
Leading Designer Hotel/Resort • The design concept should be unique and clearly different to any other resort in the destination / region. • The design concept should be clearly defined with a brief of not less than 3 lines from the architect on the concept. The architect should be a specialist in designer hotel. • State other facilities unique to your resort • Every feature of the product should bring about a uniqueness and should be contemporary in style. • State the Segment and Nationality mix of the hotel REGIONAL AWARDS • All collaterals, brochures, website etc. to be uniformed and should be reflective of its concept. • Marketing initiatives such as partnerships, alliances should be done with other products of similar reputation. • Celebrity visits • Property USP’s (Unique Selling Proposition)
Leading Heritage Hotel/Resort • A clear justification of the property to be given to be included under this category, with a good storyline to define same. • The ambience of the hotel and the service model should reflect the positioning. • International accolades and certification received. • Promotion of local arts and crafts by the hotel • All marketing collaterals should reflect the heritage look and feel including in the tone of voice. REGIONAL AWARDS • The property should be outstanding with a strong reputation for its heritage value. • Recent unique initiatives introduced keep in line with positioning International memberships / partnerships to be listed.
Leading Luxury Hotel/Resort • The hotel should have a five-star rating • Should be located outside a metro city • The essence of luxury should reflect across all operational areas. Give details. • The property should have extensive range of facilities and offerings • Submit the personalized service aspects practiced at your property • Excellence in design quality and attention to detail to be defined. Leading Palace Hotel • Properties operating as palace hotels with a clear understanding of its history • Give a brief detail with regard to how the product evolve • The entire service design including food and beverage offered should reflect its position. • Guests staying at the property should have a unique palace experience. • The ADR (Average Room Rate) and a clear break-down of the nationalities should reflect as a product suitable for top end /affluent clientele REGIONAL AWARDS • Endorsements from VIP’s, Celebrities and International accolades received All collaterals, promotional materials, representation internationally should reflect the product positioning. • International memberships / partnerships to be listed.
Leading House Boat • Leading house boat category applies to a house boat based in south asia region. • The vessels have to be equipped with accommodation, F&B outlet / service and should be able to cater groups and individuals on scheduled and charter basis. REGIONAL AWARDS

Leading Wellness and Spa Brand • Should be Internationally or locally recognized spa brand and marketed under one banner. • The brand should be outsourced as a spa operator by a minimum of 5 hotels / resorts in a country or region. • Operational concept and model should be identical across all hotels • Brand should have standalone spa facility REGIONAL AWARDS
Leading Destination Promoter • This award recognizes an organization that is driving value through an outstanding visitor experience. (Tourism NGO’s, Tourism Boards) • The organization will need to show how they are delivering consistent excellence in visitor experience showcasing some unique features in relation to the destination. • The organization will be able to show what steps they have taken to improve the end-to-end visitor experience and the outcome. Leading Tourist Transport Provider (Air) • Service provider should project the safety aspects provided for guests such as insurance etc. • A separate lounge facility should be a point of recognition. • Category applies for service providers with sufficient number of facilities (helicopters, seaplanes, domestic airplanes) providing an exceptional service on scheduled, private hire and on ad-hoc request basis REGIONAL AWARDS
Leading Tourist Transport Provider (Land/Sea) • Tourist transport provider category applies for service providers with sufficient number of facilities (vehicles, speedboats, boats) providing an exceptional service on private hire and on ad-hoc request basis. Leading Travel Agents – Inbound • Service providers for visitors travelling in to a country, offering a range of services for individual and group travel. • Give details of online services provided with an option of payment gateway • Details of source markets and structure of handling each market • Website analysis • Keeping with current trends the company should be active on social media – give details • Overall market mix REGIONAL AWARDS • The agent must indicate unique service offerings in comparison to its competitors. Leading Travel Agents - Outbound • Service providers for visitors travelling out of country to another destination, offering a range of services and packages for individual and group travel. • Total number of destinations you have packages on offer. • What marketing initiatives are undertaken to sell such packages • Give details of new development undertaken for year 2018 • Packages / tours should cover all areas of interest such as cruises, adventure, beach, culture, nature, religious etc. REGIONAL AWARDS • Safety measures provided for the guests travelling outbound. (Insurance, Local Guides) • Give details of training and tour experiences with fams you provide your employees in order to deliver efficient service to your customers.
Leading Travel Technology • This should be targeted at e-marketing companies specialized in providing services to tourism related companies. You may need to have someone who is savy to assess such organizations. REGIONAL AWARDS
Leading Adventure Service Provider • This category recognizes service providers which provides outdoor adventure tourism experiences that involve visitor participation and a personal challenge. • List out unique offerings by your company • Accommodation provided for guests should be in line with outdoor adventure experiences. • Accolades, certifications received. Leading GSA • Leading GSA service provider category applies for businesses who are authorized as GSA’s of airlines. • Handling agents for more than 2 years REGIONAL AWARDS
Leading PSA • Leading PSA service provider category applies for businesses that are licensed to sell airlines in passenger sales and ticketing services. • Minimum of 2 Airlines REGIONAL AWARDS
Leading Convention Center • Standalone convention centers providing required facilities and services of international standards, with a seating capacity of over 1000 pax, adequate exhibition space, indoor and outdoor meeting venues. • Give details of facilities offered for such events • Location to be in a leading metro city or close proximity. • Number of International / local events held annually REGIONAL AWARDS

HOW TO NOMINATE
NOMINATION All Nominees are registered without a participation fee to enroll the brands and products to South Asian Travel Awards (SATA). TO NOMINATE : Fill the online application form on www.southasiantravelawards.com DEADLINE TO NOMINATE : 30th April 2019 (00.00 Hrs) SATA Nomination Team under the Communication Department will coordinate with relevant authorities in the respective destinations in obtaining details of entitled entities. The information will be circulated to the respective properties / travel industry bodies / NGO’s prior to the deadline for nominations. Once a property / service is nominated, the SATA team will notify each product about the final confirmed nominations together with the final category/s nominations has been accepted by SATA. It is the responsibility of the nominee to ensure that the product / service is listed properly on the website www.satravelawards.com. Any discrepancies should be notified before the online voting commences.

Nominee Criteria or Prerequisites • Company / Hotel Service Provider is eligible to apply under a maximum of three categories • It is necessary to give a clear introduction of your company • Please identify if you are part of an International Brand, Local Brand or a standalone product • Please identify key USP’s (Unique Selling Propositions) for the nominated product keeping in mind your competitive set. If you are nominated for more than one category, it is important to give the USP’s to cover each of the nominated areas • Allocation of 20 minutes for two category and 30 minutes for three categories will be the maximum time you will receive. It is necessary that you prepare your presentation according to the timelines given. • The organizers have the right to accept / reject your nominations or nomination categories
PRESENTATION VOTING AND JUDGING WILL BE CARRIED ON TWO DIFFERENT SYSTEMS : 45% through online voting on www.satravelawards.com 55% via professional presentation of the product. (Each participant will be invited to come and present their brand products and services) *Expert Panel will be selected by the SATA, consisting of total 4 members from destinations within the SATA entitled region, this will include one member from the SATA committee. The Expert Panel will Travel to Major Cities based on nominations to evaluate the presentations of respective nominated TIMINGS FOR PRESENTATIONS : 1. Nominee (Single Category) : 3 mins visual and 7 minutes explanation or a total of 10 mins. 2. Nominee (Upto 3 Catogories) : 10 mins for PPT / Video, interact effectively by explaining in 20 mins, a total of 30 mins. 3. Nominee (Brands with several properties) : Description of each property in 10 Mins, a brand with 6 properties will be entitled for a time frame of 1 hour in total.
