We recommend having a back pack that is child size, so your child is able to carry it independently. This is especially helpful for the toddler children attending Lincoln Manor, as we would like them to practice before entering the preschool room. Where we would like them to be able to carry it safely up the stairs. (Backpacks are recommended so they are able to hold onto the railing.) In order to stop the spread of the virus, please ensure you are washing your child’s belongings regularly. Blankets, backpacks, clothing items should be disinfected before arrival.
We have decided to update our menu for the children. Please look out for an email from your supervisor, so you are aware of our meals, and can provide substitutions if needed. Please label everything that your child brings into the center. This is extremely important during the pandemic,
Dear Families, Thank you for always adapting to the changes of our screening protocols. Now that we are back to in person paper screening, we would like to go over some reminders for you. 1.) Please ensure you are sanitizing both your hands, and your child’s hands as you come up to the screening table. 2.) Each center has a designated entrance, and exit. Please ensure you are following this at all times. There are labels placed on the gates, however if you are still usure of where to exit please ask your morning screener. 3.) During pickup, please do not enter the deck/play area. Please call the center so we are able to bring your child out to you.

Wishing all of you a very safe, and happy family day filled with your loved ones. We know this family day will look a little different for you compared to years past as we are currently facing a stay- at-home order. So, I have added some fun ideas to help make this day as special as can be. We can't wait to hear all about it when you return on Tuesday, February 16th. Movie Night: -Spice it up by creating movie tickets, popcorn tickets and drink tickets. Have one person in your family be the ticket taker and have someone be the concession stand worker. -Create cozy beds on the floor with blankets to change it up. Build Blanket Forts: -Kids LOVE building forts. Work together to collect items from around your house to build the ultimate blanket fort! You can even eat your lunch, watch a movie, or get some colouring activities out to enjoy inside your fort. Flashlights would be an awesome added touch! Make Pizza: -A great hands-on activity that I’m sure your children will enjoy, is making pizza. You can either create one big pizza or split the dough up and make smaller individual ones. Do a science Experiment: -Children love science, and it can also be super fun for us too! I will attach a great science experiment idea for you to try on the next page. Enjoy!

Fine Motor Skills What is it, why is it important? Fine motor skills are the movements of tiny muscles involving the synchronization of hands, fingers, and eyes. Examples: Using tools such as: crayons, eating utensils, completing puzzles, zipping jackets, tying shoes Building fine motor skills are extremely important in child development. Developing strong fine motor skills help children to master daily tasks and become independent for their future. Our centres provide many chances for your children to gain strong fine motor skills. Such as: Colouring, Tracing, Matching, Encourage independence in dressing for outdoors, painting, and so much more.

Inclement Weather and Snow Closure Policy Found in the “Parent Handbook.” On Page 16-17. Inclement Weather & Emergency Closures Our centre will not operate if schools are closed or transportation is not running due to inclement weather or another emergency. There may be times during the school year where inclement weather or other situations could cause transportation cancellations or school closures. Information about transportation changes and school closures will be available on the local radio and television stations as soon as it is available. The centre closes when the Niagara District School Board announces school closures or transportation cancellations due to inclement weather and snowstorms. For information on centre closures our staff will do a call out to each family advising of the closure, however parents in both Preschool and Toddler programs are responsible for determining if the child care centre is closed because of inclement weather or unusual circumstances. Regular daily fees are charged for the days your child is sick, for statutory holidays and winter storm closures.
