Smiles are Meant to Last a Lifetime
The health of your mouth can impact your
whole body. Taking care of your mouth helps
you: maintain your overall health, enjoy the
foods you love, prevent bad breath, and keep
feeling good as you age. Neglecting your mouth
can lead to pain and infection that can spread
throughout your body. Poor oral health is linked
to other diseases such as: heart disease, stroke,
respiratory disease, diabetes, and oral cancer.
Did you know cavities or decay aren’t just for kids? If you have experienced gum
recession, you may be susceptible to decay on root surfaces. Make sure to take care
of your mouth everyday by establishing a daily oral health routine. This well help
prevent dental disease, and ensure your smile lasts a lifetime. See tips below!

Know Your Label: Sugar
On a Nutrition Facts label, the
section of Total Sugars includes
both naturally occurring sugar
and added sugars. The Dietary
Guidelines for Americans
recommend limiting calories
from added sugars to less than
10% of total calories per day.
Instead of drinking a sugar
sweetened beverage like soda or juice, try
infusing your water with fresh fruits and herbs
such as basil, mint, rosemary, or lavender. This
will make your water taste refreshing and is a
healthier alternative to sugary drinks.

How to Avoid Bad Breath
Bad breath also called halitosis often starts in your mouth. Plaque can build up
on your teeth, between your teeth, and on your tongue if not removed daily.
Bacteria in the plaque can give off an odor. Other causes of bad breath include
dry mouth, smoking, drinking coffee, and diets high in protein and sugar.
