Support Various times September 2021 is provided on a one-to-one basis or in a small group. All levels of ability are catered and days for in a confidential and supportive learning environment. The classes are part-time, free of charge, and are flexible to suit the availability of the learner. Computers for Beginners/Improvers This course offers learners an opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in the use of Friday 01st Oct 2021 computers and technology for everyday life. The course is part-time and free of 10.00am – 12.00pm (10 weeks) charge. This course is suitable for people with little or limited knowledge of computers and technology. Horticulture for Beginners and Improvers Learn the basics of gardening and horticultural practices in a relaxed and fun Wednesday 29th Sept 2021 learning environment. Learners will develop skills in various horticultural practices 10.00am – 1.00pm (18 weeks) including planting, sowing, weeding, crop maintenance and harvesting. General Learning – QQI Level 3 (Major Award) Communications – QQI Level 3 Preparation course for adults who wish to improve their reading and writing skills Thursday & Friday 30th Sept 2021 before progressing onto further study. Build your self-confidence, skills and 10.00am – 12.00pm (8weeks) competence to use a range of communication skills in familiar social and work or public contexts in one-to-one or in a small group setting. Fees will apply to those who do not meet the above criteria Information & Communication Technology – QQI Level 4 (Major Award) Course Day/Time Start Date Computer Applications – QQI Level 4 This programme module aims to provide the learner, with the knowledge, skills and Tuesday & Thursday 28th Sept 2021 competence to perform a range of tasks in Microsoft Excel, Access and graphic 10.00am – 12.00pm (10 weeks) software. Learners will develop a wide range of computer skills and build on their existing ICT knowledge throughout the course. Preparation for Further Study (Communications and Computer Skills) – QQI Level 4 This course is designed to help you develop the relevant oral, written, ICT and Tuesday and Thursday 28th Sept 2021 communication skills. The course covers groupwork, interview skills and presentation 10am - 12.30pm (10 weeks) skills. It is an ideal course to prepare you for progression options at QQI level 5. Healthcare Support – QQI Level 5 (Major Award) Social Studies – QQI Level 5 This programme module aims to introduce learners to the area of sociology and Tuesday 29th Sept 2021 social studies and to develop their understanding and awareness of social issues in 6.30pm – 8.30pm (20 weeks) their own lives and society in general. NOTE: This course will be delivered via a blend of online classes and small group workshops in the centre. Access to a computer and the internet is essential to participate in this course. Business Studies – QQI Level 5 (Major Award) Spreadsheets – QQI Level 5 This programme module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill, and Tuesday 29th Sept 2021 competence to create and modify spreadsheets using common spreadsheet features. 6.30pm – 8.30pm (20 weeks) Learners will generate statistical information in Microsoft Excel utilising the macros, IF function, conditional IF function and LOOKUP function in the creation of business spreadsheets. (Note: Learners must have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel to enrol on this course). This course will be delivered via a blend of online classes and small group workshops in the centre. Access to a computer and the internet is essential to participate in this course.
Lifelong Learning Newbridge Further Education and Training Centre At the Newbridge FET centre we offer a comprehensive range of full and part-time adult education courses for adult learners of all ages. Courses are offered across a wide variety of subject disciplines and fields of learning. Classes are offered on a part-time flexible basis. Education and Training FOR WORK AND LIFE Please note the following conditions of attendance 1. The centre reserves the right to change or cancel any course. 2. Due to the implementation of Covid-19 safety procedures and in adherence with social distancing guidelines, class capacity has been substantially reduced for the Autumn 2021 term. A waiting list system will apply for oversubscribed classes. 3. In the event of centre closures due to Covid-19, a number of the module learning outcomes may be delivered via blended learning. 4. Further enrolments may take place one week after the start of a course, if there are vacancies. 5. Only those over 16 years who have left full-time second level education may enrol on a course. 6. The provision of classes during the mid-term break may vary. 7. Management are not responsible for loss or damage to student’s property. 8. Limited parking available. 9. Smoking and Vaping are strictly prohibited in any part of the centre. Management reserve the right to refuse admission to those presenting under the influence of alcohol/drugs. 10. Fees are non-refundable except where a course does not take place due to poor enrolment. Fees Fees may be paid by either Cash or Cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Kildare and Wicklow ETB.
