When it comes to medical appointments for your child, a few minutes of preparation can
make a big difference.

     Helpful Tips
Here are some helpful tips for you and your child to have a successful
experience with your child’s Primary Care Provider.
• Be honest and tell your child what to expect. For example, you could say that
   immunizations will hurt, but only for a minute or so.
• Use a toy or musical instrument to distract your child during shots or other
   uncomfortable moments. Let them know it’s okay to cry.
• Talk with other people who know your child well, such as a grandparent
   or caregiver, and ask if they have any health concerns
