BJÖRN DAHLSTRÖM Björn Dahlström, b. 1957, is a leading Swedish designer. He works in two and three dimensions and is internationally renowned for his contributions to furniture and industrial design. The graphic quality of his unique style is distinctive through its approach to expressing soft, fundamental shapes. Björn’s work is currently represented at museums worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the Centre national des arts plastiques in Paris. He has also received many major prestigious awards, including Excellent Swedish Design, the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Award, and the German Design Award. Furniture, rugs, bicycles, household products and toys are examples of the wide range of products designed by Björn. He first became acquainted with glass in the Strömberg studio in 1993, when he designed vases for one of his exhibitions. Informal is Björn’s first series for Orrefors. ”For me, as for so many others, Orrefors is a brand that has always been present. The opportunity to design for Orrefors and to familiarize myself with the company’s rich history and tradition has also been like a journey through memories of life.” – Björn Dahlström 2
INFORMAL Design Björn Dahlström · 2021 Informal is a contemporary series of functional glass that fits equally well into formal and everyday settings. The series is designed by Björn Dahlström, whose background is in furniture and industrial design. “I viewed the process as an industrial design project, where each part of the glass was deconstructed, analyzed and reworked into a new whole. The bowl at the bottom of the wine glass cup is wide to maximize the contact of the drink with oxygen. The relatively open cup is a lovely design detail, but it’s also better suited emotionally to non-alcoholic drinks. The champagne glass is a detour from the square element of the series, standing out with its fluted shape. The short stem harmonizes beautifully with the other pieces in the series and means you automatically pick up the glass by the cup, which is good for balance and for mingling. The carafe has a distinctive character, with colorful glass and a prominent spout. The little bowl is ideal for use as a base, or for serving some kind of appetizer.” – Björn Dahlström 3

INGEGERD RÅMAN Ingegerd Råman is a prominent name in Swedish design. Her work is characterized by timelessness and simplicity – quiet, yet precise creations which she likes herself. These utility objects revolve around food, drinks and the set table. She wants to pare down and focus, while retaining a sense of desire and beauty within the object. Otherwise, simplicity and streamlining can be a pitfall. “A tin with a lid is a tin with a lid. But there must be warmth, thought, an idea and poetry behind it,” explains Ingegerd. She has won numerous distinctions for her work over the years, and in 1995 she was awarded the title of professor by the Swedish government. Since 1999, Ingegerd has designed a timeless, unique library of products for Orrefors. 5

POND Design Ingegerd Råman · 2002 Pond is named after the pond in Orrefors, outside of Ingegerd’s studio window. LISA HILLAND Lisa Hilland (b. 1973) is a Swedish designer who studied at St. Martins College of Art and Design in London, which has given her Scandinavian origins an international appeal. Her experience spans a wide area and includes furniture design as well as interior decor accessories. Lisa’s customers include highly regarded companies such as Gemla and Svenskt Tenn, and now also Orrefors. She has won several awards during her career, including the Lauritz Icon Award 2017 for the Bow furniture series designed for Gemla, and Sköna Hem’s Furniture of the Year 2019 for the Anno Cabinet. Further distinctions include Furniture of the Year 2019 for the Mylhta Stool, and Form Award, Svensk Form. “For me, design is about emotion, about communicating with another person through an object. Materials are incredibly important in this process, because they generate curiosity and reinforce the qualities of the object.” Lisa is inspired by studying shapes and phenomena in nature, and by production and handicraft methods that maximize the potential of a given material. “This is something I experiment with constantly while designing, or as I say: giving an object a soul to love.” Visiting the studio in Orrefors and the proud, skilled craftspeople made a strong impression on Lisa. “The crystal is handmade the same way today as it has been for generations. I have a deep respect for this beautiful material and the skilled craftsmanship that goes into every object. Together with Orrefors, I want to continue to develop this tradition and to honor the beauty of crystal through genuine craftsmanship, production and good design.” 10
BLOOM Design Lisa Hilland · 2018 It is a universal truth that opposites attract and create harmony. Hot and cold, soft and hard, black and white. One needs the other to be whole. When designer Lisa Hilland was asked to design a vase for Orrefors, something that would be equally beautiful without flowers, she chose to use metal for contrast beside the exclusive crystal. Bloom is inspired by the organic shapes of nature, by flowers and leaves. The new arrival to the series this year is a tall vase for cut flowers, a vase which can also be used for dried flowers or a simple branch from the garden. Like the short vase, this vase is equally beautiful with a lush bouquet or a simple ivy clipping. The vases are also lovely in their own right, with only the light playing in the crystal glass. • A stainless steel structure holds the flowers in place to create exciting floral arrangements • Combine tall and short vases for intriguing groupings • Unique identity 6400026 Bloom 6400025 NEW PRICE vase Bloom vase H 11.18 W 9.06 in H 4.92 W 9.06 in Clear Clear $250 $150 11
