We are not alone in Africa as partners and sponsors -> Why not cooperate? The is no uniform African concept -> One size does not fit for all We need reliable Rotarian partners Cooperating Societies -> Only with them can we be successful!

HOW INTERCOUNTRY COMMITTEES CAN FACILITATE GLOBAL GRANTS The Southern Africa connection - it works with excellent partners and thoughtful proposals - RIC Hamburg Breakout Session 2019 Criteria for successful grants: ABCDE ✓ Assure that the project is truly needed. ✓ Be aware of the focus areas for GGs. ✓ Clubs in the host country must be trustworthy. ✓ Develop contacts with the cooperating partners. ✓ Expert advice by TRF and enthusiastic support in your own club are essential.

Tygerberg versorgt als eines der zentralen Kliniken die gesamte Region auch in der Corona- Pandemie. Es beschäftigt mehr als 4000 Ärzte, Krankenschwestern, Pfleger und sonstiges Personal. Bereits 150 Ärzte und Krankenschwester sind Covid-19 positiv getestet, ebenso 93 Kinder. 4 Krankenschwestern sind an Covid-19 bereits verstorben. GG 43 000 USD

GG 2126671 LIMPOPO FOOD GARDEN PROJECT Covid-19 pandemic causes the worst food crisis since WW II. Project goal: improve resilience amongst rural communities in Limpopo Province through strengthening food security in 60 households from 2 villages in the Mopani District. Method: Through agro-ecology /permaculture training and mentorship over 24 months, The vulnerable beneficiaries will be able to access produce directly from their gardens and will be RC Haenertsburg + RC Marburg + able to sell their surplus as an + international partners additional income stream. Work ahead! – Much to do, but we should remain focussed Namibia in the pandemic 2021 – what are the options? - single donations for Namibian local projects and/or - Appeal from Namibia to German government and/or - GG Grant for a sustainable health project ? On July 11th, 2021 I received notice from Raimon von Hase, Carl-Heinz Duisberg and the Ciske Howard Task Force that due to major support from a Namibian sponsor no further donations are needed to finance the Tamariskia temporary hospital in the town hall of Swakopmund. Congratulations! School book project Kavango-West of RC Marburg with RC Klein- Windhoek Valley, cooperating partners Peter Reiner, Wolfgang Fiedler. Amount Eur 43564,00 Eur. Global Grant Improving education for the children of Tses/Namibia (//Karas-Region) Extrem arme Region mit vielen Problemen (Aids-Waisen, Arbeitslosigkeit, Alkohol, Drogen, Kriminalität) Konkrete Probleme, die angegangen werden sollen: 1. Unzureichende fachliche und pädagogische Ausbildung der Lehrkräfte; vor allem kritisch in den zentralen Fächern Englisch und Mathematik 2. Zu geringe Kompetenzen der Schülerinnen und Schüler im Lesen (englisch) und in Mathematik → wenige Jugendliche schaffen einen Schulabschluss, mangelnde Wertschätzung von Schulbildung durch die Eltern 3. Keine Bücher für Unterricht und zum Lesen, Mangel an Unterrichtsmaterialien, sehr schlechte Internetverbindung, die häufig ausfällt; Räume für eine Bibliothek werden als „Müllabladeplatz“ genutzt 4. Sehr hohe Temperaturen (teils über 40°C) erschweren Lehren und Lernen, schlechte Beleuchtung erschwert die Study-time am Abend 09.07.2021 51
