History History Walk Thanks to this parent for sharing these photos of her History This term Year 7 are studying the Renaissance Period walk with us on Twitter. The Renaissance is the name given to a new way of life that appeared in Europe; marking the end of the Middle Ages. The Renaissance period changed peoples’ attitudes towards themselves and the world around them. It was a period when people re-discovered learning and looked back to the classical civilisations of Rome and Greece. It was an exciting time for new inventions and amazing discoveries. It was also a time of beautiful artworks and magnificent buildings. One of the most important inventions of the Renaissance, and perhaps in the history of the world, was the printing press. German Johannes Gutenberg invented it around 1440, and by the 1500s there were printing presses throughout Europe. The printing press allowed for information to reach a wider audience. It was, therefore, helping to spread new scientific discoveries as well, allowing scientists to share their works and learn from each other. 1519 - Ferdinand Magellan begins his 1534 - Henry VIII separates the 1558 - Elizabeth I become Queen of England: voyage around the world: Church of England from the Catholic Church of Rome: This Portuguese-born navigator was one of the great explorers of his era - the first European Henry’s desperate desire for a male heir began to cross the Pacific Ocean, he also played a a series of events that altered religion in crucial role in the first circumnavigation of the England forever. A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend. It could be someone who has a disability, illness, mental health problem or who needs extra help as they grow older. This year people across the country are continuing to face new challenges as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. Many people are taking on more caring responsibilities for their relatives and friends who are disabled, ill or elderly and who need support. Caring can be a hugely rewarding experience, but sometimes carers find it challenging to take care of their own wellbeing while caring. The impact of caring on health and wellbeing should not be underestimated, particularly at the current time. Northamptonshire Young Carers Organisation will be running a range of events and LIVE discussions. The activities are aimed at connecting Carers while raising awareness of the support that may be available to them and celebrating all they do. Themes include: Carers can Make Music, Move, Support Each Other, Drive Change, Take Time Out, Go To Work and Learn and Have Fun!
