They can be experienced throughout the weekend using the top of the line HTC Vive VR headsets at Axis Lounge 5:30pm Location: Center Avenue PUBLIC EVENT RED CARPET OPENING NIGHT STREET PARTY Join us on Center Avenue for a street party celebrating the opening night of the 10th annual Fayetteville Film Fest! Local Craft Beer Garden, Delicious Food, Visual Art Street Fair, Red Carpet Photography and Live Music! 5:30pm Location: Stage Eighteen VIP EVENT Fayetteville Film Prize Pitch Event 20 filmmakers will pitch their ideas for a short film to be shot in Northwest Arkansas in the coming year to a panel of professional film producers who will select one team to win a cash prize to be used to complete the film. 7:00 Location: Global Campus Theatre FEATURE FILM ALL SQUARE directed by John Hyams USA/96 minutes A down-on-his-luck bookie, played by Emmy nominated Michael Kelly (House of Cards), befriends an ex- girlfriend’s son and begins taking bets on his little league games, creating chaos in the community. FOLLOWED BY A Q&A WITH THE FILMMAKERS 9:00pm Location: Global Campus Theatre NARRATIVE SHORTS: HORROR & SCI-FI BLOCK Porcelain Stare directed by Aurel Ganz Switzerland/5 minutes A young girl is invited for tea by an old woman. Little does she know that the woman harbors a terrible secret that will soon be uncovered.
The Company directed by Kelly Griffin Arkansas, USA/6 minutes This winner of this year’s 48 Hour Film Project follows the personal and professional life of a man whose occupation must remain a mystery. The Screen directed by Emil Woerner Arkansas, USA/15 minutes A young man stares at an electronic tablet, waiting for something to appear. When he gets distracted, his world turns into a nightmare. Dust directed by Logan Triplett USA/23 minutes Dust is a sci-fi thriller following a young synthetic reporter, brought back to life to track down a story. Arena directed by Reza Noferesti Iran/19 minutes In a theatre when an actor who was meant to play a tortured prisoner does not show up, the show changes dramatically. Better directed by Jack White Arkansas, USA/10 minutes Archer takes his son, Bryce, to the lakehouse in hopes of teaching him the skills necessary to survive. However, Bryce doesn’t exactly know what his father is protecting him from. Sweet and Lo directed by Clay Liford USA/15 minutes The Rockersham Twins are the weird girls who live at the end of the block. In fact, nobody really knows why they’re called twins. One things certain, they’re both very strange and share a dark secret. The Ill-timed Enlightenment of Jason Voorhees directed by Lisa McFadden USA/8 minutes The infamous character from the Friday the 13th movie franchise has a mid-life crisis and wants to change his life. But is it too late? FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 2:00pm Location: Global Campus Theatre FEATURE FILM WILD NIGHTS WITH EMILY directed by Madeleine Olnek USA/85 minutes The poet Emily Dickinson (played here by Molly Shannon) has the reputation of a reclusive spinster- a delicate wallflower, too sensitive for the world. This film explores the vivacious, irreverent side of her that was covered up for many years and only recently uncovered. 3:30pm Location: Pryor Center Screening Room DOCUMENTARY FEATURE FAIL STATE directed by Alexander Shebanow USA/90 minutes This expansive exposé reveals the dark side behind the rise of predatory for-profit colleges and how a cabal of politicians and unscrupulous business tycoons sold out the dream of American Higher education. Fail State is executive produced by news legend Dan Rather. 5:00pm Location: Pryor Center Screening Room DOCUMENTARY BLOCK UP TO SNUFF directed by Mark Maxey USA/80 minutes Millions of people have been touched by his music, yet few know the journey, hardships and triumphs of American musician and composer W.G. Snuffy Warren. In Up to Snuff, friends and collaborators share personal stories, laughs and insights about this generous soul who overcame the excesses of rock and roll to find success as one of the most beloved composers in television history. BUY BACK THE BLOCK directed by Michael Day Arkansas/USA/22 minutes Young historians, students and professionals explore the realities of growing up black in Arkansas’ capital city after the desegregation of Little Rock Central High School. He accepts a job at a local antique mall where he’s introduced to the quirky world in which his dad grew up. Walt learns not only about his father, but a good bit about himself. The ensemble includes Andrew West, Michela Watkins, Michael Gladis, Ashley Greene and Mary Steenbergen. Who would open the doors that were unlocked through the landmark legislation of the 1960’s? Homeless in Boomtown directed by Shane White and Denzel Jenkins Arkansas/USA/26 minutes Fayetteville, Arkansas is a college town nestled in the Ozarks. The American Dream come true. But a growing number of men, women and children are calling the streets home. This is their story. And the story of the compassionate volunteers who don’t look away. The Forgotten History of Camp Monticello directed by Matteo Borgardt Arkansas/USA/51 minutes This documentary explores the history and the importance of the prisoner of war camp built in Monticello, Arkansas during World War II to host Italian POWs. FOLLOWED BY A Q&A WITH THE FILMMAKERS 1:00pm Location: Pryor Center Screening Room DOCUMENTARY BLOCK HOME + AWAY directed by Matt Ogens USA/83minutes This documentary that previously screened at the Tribeca Festival Film follows the journey of several students who attend Bowie High School in El Paso, Texas, but have an unusual commute. For many of these students, sports represent one possible route to a better life. Others look to the army. Horns Out directed by Tommy Carroll Armstrong Arkansas/USA/13minutes This documentary, shot in Bozeman, Montana and Jackson, Wyoming, explores 77 year old climber, Maurice Horn’s relationship to climbing, the outdoors and his sense of place.

Thunder Road won the 2018 SXSW Film Festival Grand Jury Prize. FOLLOWED BY A Q&A WITH THE FILMMAKERS 3:00pm Location: Pryor Center Screening Room DOCUMENTARY BLOCK The Gospel of Eureka directed by Michael Palmieri Arkansas/USA/73minutes Love, faith and civil rights collide in a southern town as evangelical Christians and drag queens step into the spotlight to dismantle stereotypes. Dogpatch, USA directed by Jason Hurley Arkansas/USA/43 minutes This film looks at the history of the defunct Dogpatch USA theme park, through pictures, exclusive interviews and at-home movies. The film reminisces about the heyday of the park but examines the factors of its downfall as well. Bullies directed by Daniel Bydlowski USA/28minutes Eugene, a shy 10-year-old boy, is bullied every day until he discovers a secret underneath the school that keeps him safe, for now… Five Point Oh directed by Tommy Cramer USA/13minutes
When Erika, a 24 year old DJ, meets Kevin, a 25 year old TV writer, it’s love at first sight…but everything may be riding on forces out of their control. Gringa directed by Claudia Murray USA/14minutes This bilingual short follows an overworked Cuban-American millennial rushing to pack for a trip to Havana. Roadside Attorney directed by Barry Cobbs Arkansas/USA/8minutes James F.A. McGaugh, Esquire, uses the law as a hammer to fix broken lives. Want a divorce? Want to stay in prison? James will win your case, guaranteed. Gwen directed by Madeline Snapp Arkansas/USA/9minutes Gwen is preparing for the annual Blue Briar Neighborhood Fair, where folks come from miles to showcase their talents. The Wayward Wind directed by Steve Delahoyde USA/4minutes With music by Carl Sondrol, The Wayward Wind uses movement and humor to turn the idea of the “rambling man” on its head. On a typical Friday night, Vicky wants to reach the party her crush is going to, but the night does not go as planned. The Snag directed by Tommy Cramer France/8minutes When Camille meets Etienne, there is something more than usual. But she has a secret which will ruin everything between them. Run in the Light directed by Christopher Bill Wiberg Denmark/17minutes Theis is stuck and is unable to move on by himself after the death of his brother, but after a run-in with an elder woman, Alma, this will all start to change.
