Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future Salem’s “Phoenix” Amphitheatre Proceeds go to the generation of opened in 2013. Caribbean Beneficiary Concert was opened by Johnny Clegg and brought crowds from the region, Africa, the UK, Canada and the USA, including many diaspora Montserratians.

Another favourite is the “Cuba- Cabana” street music festival that brings well known bands to perform in the streets of Salem

Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The UWI Open Campus is also home to Montserrat’s School of Public Policy and Management, (MSPPM) the premier school for civil service training in the region. The school benefits from a visiting faculty from the renowned School of Oriental & African Studies (University of London), many of whom have now made their home in Montserrat

Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The water and fruit-juice processing plant, near Duck Pond, opened in 2014. In addition to Montserratian spring- water, a range of high-quality fruit juices are now exported to the USA, Canada and Europe
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The Montserrat company Emerald Spa has expanded its original business of natural nutrient-rich volcanic clay products to include facial and body washes and other skincare products. These are sold via a boutique in Little Bay and internationally
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future Home to many of the island’s ICT and financial services business people, Palm Loop, Woodlands and Olveston now boast some of the premier residential properties in the region.
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future Government has permitted a limited number of well-managed luxury eco-lodges to be developed on the edges of the Centre Hills. In addition to providing a buffer zone at the edge of the forest reserve, a special “eco-levy” provides funding for protecting Montserrat’s unique flora and fauna and for maintaining forest trails
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future Modelled on the “Las Terrenas” property on the Dominican Republic’s Samana Peninsula, a range of exclusive guesthouses exist throughout Montserrat’s west coast
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future Providence Estate, where Sir Paul McCartney and his family stayed in the 1980s, was bought in 2012. A recording studio was built and this has put Montserrat “back on the map” as a terrific place to produce new music

The 9-hole, 18-tee golf course is neighboured by 3- and 4-bedroom serviced villas that cater to families or golfing groups. A central clubhouse includes meeting rooms and conference / function facilities
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The serviced villas also provide accommodation for those attending the residential tennis coaching courses and for VIPs visiting the various sports events The facilities also include a restaurant serving local, regional and international dishes prepared by award-winning chefs
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The upgraded airport building now accommodates air traffic control, increased passenger-handling and baggage facilities, a restaurant and CIP/VIP lounge. Opposite the terminal building is a small mall with shops on the ground floor and rented office space above
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The new marina at Carr’s Bay was opened in 2016. The marina provides a “safe haven” for local fishermen as well as visiting yachts. The Royal Montserrat Yacht Club is based here, which has attracted many international visitors, some of whom have purchased luxury villas around the marina with private moorings
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The fish farm at Piper’s Pond was established in 2015 and has developed a reputation for the specialist seafood dishes served at restaurants sited around the perimeter of Piper’s Pond.
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The hotel on Potato Hill opened in 2016 and attracts guests who seek the tranquillity of Montserrat. The hotel has already developed an international reputation for its unique cocktail (the recipe is a closely guarded secret), sipped slowly by the infinity pool at sunset
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The Central Boulevard in Little Bay is a “must-see, must-do” shopping paradise, with designer boutiques – a favourite with cruise ship and yachting visitors, as well as international guests who visit during Montserrat’s many music festivals
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future Montserrat’s own “Panorama” steel band festival was first held in 2013. Since then it has grown to rival the famous Trinidad festival, but attracts a following of its own. Bands from each community across the island take it in turns to greet visitors disembarking from cruise ships adjacent to Harbour Village
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future Between 2015 and 2019 a new community has been established in Little Bay, comprising individually- designed homes with single-theme styling. Little Bay links to the airport via a new road through Drummonds The white sands for the beach were imported in 2014 during the final stages of developing the waterfront
Montserrat in 2020 A view of the island’s future The eco-style boutique hotel on the hill above Rendezvous Bay completes the 3-Bay Concept that joins with Little Bay and Carr’s Bay into a single “Montserratian holiday experience”. The public beach is occasionally closed for holding exclusive all-day champagne beach parties for visiting cruise ship guests
