Haringey Council Early Help and Prevention Offer Haringey Council’s Early Help offer on a page which details all the services we provide within the Council’s Early Help and Prevention Service to support children, young people, and their families. These services are focussed on children’s centres, youth services, youth justice and family support. In due course, it will be updated to reflect wider early help support from across different parts of the Council. To make it more accessible, each heading is interactive, therefore, when you click on this, it takes you to more detailed and up to date information. Documents can also be accessed on the Local Authority Early Help webpages here: Early Help Service | Haringey Council 7
Haringey Wellbeing Assessment Model This model is underpinned by Haringey’s Early Help Strategy, setting out the clear pathway of what families can expect when a well being assessment is undertaken and the support they will receive. This model is one that we can all sign up to as agencies offering earlier support to families using a multiagency team around the family approach with an identified lead professional/practitioner. How this is delivered in practice by each agency differs, however the steps and pledges remain the same for any agency supporting a family, whether it be schools, voluntary sector or the Local Authority Early Help and Prevention Service. Documents can also be accessed on the Local Authority Early Help webpages here: Early Help Service | Haringey Council 8

Public Health Haringey Update: With the relaxing of restrictions, we have reviewed our local guidelines for the boroughs’ schools. For now, as cases in the borough are still moderately high, we are recommending that classes/groups who exceed the outbreak threshold (5 cases or 10%) should continue to follow outbreak management plan measures for a period of at least 10 days. This means: • Testing of the whole class/group using lateral flow tests on day one and again three days later (both primary and secondary) • Keeping the class separate from other classes as far as possible, by avoiding assemblies and indoor group activities with other classes and keeping them separate in afterschool care when indoors. • For secondary, we advise temporary mask wearing in communal areas while the outbreak is ongoing. Depending on the number of cases we may advise masks in classrooms for the affected class as well, for a limited period. • Please see updated letters which you can use in these situations to send to parents Primary Letter Secondary Letter Additionally, we would be very grateful if you could continue to report your cases to us on Fridays via the form. This helps us to keep track of cases and outbreaks in schools, which has become more difficult now that less people are testing. 13

Cyber update Important Cybersecurity reminders for SLT and Governors, Inc. Essential activity for Technical Support Following the evolving situation in Ukraine, the National Cyber Security Centre has called on organisations in the UK to bolster their online defences. A reminder of LGFL’s security.lgfl.net and the latest advice for schools using LGFL including a infographic with steps to take and Elevate Cybersecurity Toolkit for Schools (templates for cyber security policy and Incident Report Plan. As well as focused LGFL Training in March And there is also training from Met Police. The Key held a very important webinar for governors in Autumn term which we recommend every governor and a member of SLT to watch and action plan with Technical Support Provider. The session described how Harris Multi-Academy Trust experienced a sophisticated cyber gang infiltrated the MAT’s systems through a phishing email and encrypted everything of value it could find, forcing the trust to shut down its entire computer network highlighting the importance of strategic IT infrastructure: back-ups, updates and robust, professional IT Systems including cloud and email for staff and governors. They refused to pay the huge ransom the hackers were demanding, but there were still significant costs of dealing with the situation. The story also featured on BBC Radio 4. The webinar included these suggestions/points: -Cyber security Strategy is part of the school’s objectives and risks, see Nation Cyber Security Centre And the school considers Cyber Cover Insurance -Ensure all systems are backed up and all software updated regularly, (It is essential to have a Patching Policy in your school) and consider Multi-factor authentication for accessing systems -Governors and SLT member to discuss resilience – disaster recovery plan, including communications with pupils, staff and parents and ‘grab-bags’ containing essential print outs of paper documents -All staff Inc. Governors should have and use school email addresses -An expert external organisation can do penetration tests of a school’s systems, including test phishing emails, but the costs of this can be very high. Training: As part of LGfL subscription, schools have access to a platform that can simulate phishing emails so they can check their staff’s alertness to them and provides training and awareness raising. Include policy on Reporting Unsolicited Emails ‘Report as SPAM’ -Document management: implement document retention policies in line with GDPR requirements so personal or sensitive information is not kept on your systems for longer than is strictly necessary. Dean Carter, Manager of Platinum Tech Support, working in Islington schools watched the webinar from The Key above and sent over additional reminders: · Cloud is more secure in conjunction with Multi Factor Authentication.(Islington mainly use cloud-based MIS systems, safe from ransomware but open to unauthorised access due to lack of Multi Factor Authentication used) • LGFL are coming up with a security test platform: https://twitter.com/johnjackson1066/status/1461335780035645442 • Backups should preferable be off-site backups, do not confuse the offline backups mentioned in the key video as meaning not on the internet. It means that the backup is not directly attached to your local systems. Sophos Intercept X that is provided free via LGFL needs to be configured correctly and LGFL sent out guidance back in 2021. 18

HEP is….. watching... A whole range of 10 minute stories in honour of World Book Day. Read by the likes of Michael Morpurgo, Ben Bailey Smith and Nadia Shireen. Great for your class or to share with parents. Have a look at the stories here reading... 'Why teacher training needs to embrace the complexities of SEND', written by Margaret Mulholland for TES. Mulholland highlights the need to ensure that national infrastructures of training like the Early Career Framework and National Professional Qualifications do not become a one size fits all methodology. She tells us, we can’t achieve inclusion without understanding the complexity of identifying a child’s needs, or acknowledging the impact that shifts in home circumstances can have. Read the article here listening to... Ollie Lovell's Education Research Reading Room - In this edition of the ERRR, Ollie interviews renowned education author ED Hirsch (a favourite of HEP's) is about his book, Why Knowledge Matters (2016). He delves into topics such as the importance of being able to communicate with other members of the “human” tribe, key factors of successful societies and curriculum as the glue of social cohesion.
