Equipment Funding Announced
We recently received the wonderful news that FightMND had approved
our equipment funding applications to the tune of $150,000. This new
equipment is desperately needed by our clients to support their quality of
life, allowing them to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

This year the funding was limited to ventilation and assistive technology equipment,
but these are pricey pieces of technology, so we are very grateful for the new additions.
The equipment started arriving shortly after the announcement and
the remaining items will be available to clients by the end of May.

We     have    been     f unded      for   t he   fol low ing;

14 x Resmed Lumis 150-ST Non invasive ventilation
machines which are vital to assist our clients with
breathing both at night and during the day. We
have already allocated 3 of these new machines.

7 x Cough Assist Machines which help our clients remove stubborn
mucus when cough and diaphragm muscles deteriorate. Two
of these new machines have already been allocated to clients.

Loads of assistive technology for the CATS team to use
when making modifications to wheelchairs, beds and house hold modifications;
including some Tobii Eye Mobiles, just like Professor Yerbury uses.

MNDAWA would like to express our gratitude to FightMND for supporting
our association and clients with funding for new equipment once again.

                  Global Day 2018
Each year the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations celebrates
21 June as the global day of recognition of ALS/MND. June 21 is a solstice
- a turning point - and each year the MND community undertake a
range of activities to express their hope that this day will be another
turning point in the search for cause, treatment and cure for ALS/MND.
This year’s event for clients, carers, friends, family and past carers will
be held at Perth Zoo. This will be a casual get together with a light
lunch and then you have the chance
to enjoy the zoo with your guests.
Please email us at admin@
mndawa.asn.au or call 6457 7355
to let us know if you would like
to attend. The event is free for all
clients plus one guest. Additional
people are most welcome at
the discounted cost of $15 per person. RSVP by Friday 15 June
