PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Welcome shooters to 2021! 2020 has been a very trying year. I hope all of you have stayed healthy and man- aged to keep your shooting skills honed at one of our many local clubs that still managed to throw targets in 2020. The Michigan Trapshooting Association is looking forward to a successful year of shooting targets at the Michigan home grounds. The board, staff and many volun- teers will be working hard to make that happen. The Michigan Trapshooting Association will be for the first time in a long time hosting the Central Zone Shoot at the end of July and beginning of August. I hope you all come out and make that shoot a success. Check the program for the dates and events. Please come out and support the MTA, the vendors and sponsors that help make every shoot a success. The MTA will be hosting the USA High School Clay Target League National Cham- pionship again this year. It is a great shoot that helps bring more young shooters into the sport. It allows the MTA to promote one of the best shooting facilities in the country. We are always looking for volunteers for this and other events. If you can come out and help, please let one of the directors know or contact Jeff Russell. I did want to mention that Michigan has lost a great shooter and friend, Keith Heeg. It will be our first year without him shooting and on the grounds helping shooters with their gun needs. We have lost many friends and shooters in the past couple of years and we want to keep them in our hearts and pray for their family and friends. This is my first year back on the board and I want to extend my personal invitation to everyone to come out and enjoy one of the best shooting facilities in the country. I hope we can all have a great year of shooting at Mason and support the member clubs in Michigan. Ken Sims, MTA President MTA WORK DAY Please join us on Saturday April 17, 2021 to prepare the MTA Home Grounds for a great shooting season 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – Lunch Provided BRING YOUR GUN – OPEN SHOOTING AFTER 5
MICHIGAN TRAPSHOOTING HALL OF FAME Hello from the hall of fame. As we all know we were not able to have any major events at the MTA home grounds this year be- cause of covid. That being said, some of this is a rewind. We will once again try and induct Larry & Sally Telfer into the hall in 2021 at the end of shooting at the state singles champion- ship. Please come out & support the two accomplished shooters & tireless workers for the trapshooting world. Next we will be awarding scholarships again this year. These go to Skylar Clark, Jackson Sokol and Ava Larson. These are all very good young shooters. Please come support them at a short ceremony between hundreds at the state shoot. As long as we are talking about scholarships we have suspended this program until further notice due to the pandemic sorry about this but we can reinstate this program soon. I ask that you please support the hall of fame and their fundrais- ing efforts, the silent auction, belt buckle sales, raffles etc. Re- member we are a 501c3 organization. I would like to end by saying I hope everyone stays safe and covid free and that we can all get back to shooting at the MTA soon. Hall of Fame Board: Jefferson Barber , Richard Jensen , Ken Sims, Sally Telfer, Mike Wilson Advisory member Jamie Stilianos Thanks, Mike 6

Check your classifica- tion before you leave Classification. If your special category does not appear on the posted score sheet, please report the omission at the Classification counter. Age-based special categories are determined at the beginning of the target year, or on your birthday. Please see the A.T.A. rule book for details. Concurrent special awards are exempt from this rule. If the shooter fails to make appropriate notification of his/her choice, the Directors will make the choice for that shooter. Second and third places in Special Catergories will be determined by reverse long run or coin flip if not decided by Championship shoot-off. 13
This rule shall not be interpreted to affect the right of all contestants whose score qualifies them from shooting off for the Championship Trophy in any event. Championship Trophy, for the purpose of this rule, means the trophy awarded to the highest scoring event winner. It does not mean class champions, special category champions or any other trophy than the high score winner and runner-up. 2. Leader-to-date listings are displayed on the video monitors in the main cafeteria building and scoreboard annex to allow shooters to track potential shoot-offs. Shooters are advised to note where special category shooters may have high score/tie in class and special cate- gory. It is possible that a score lower than broadcast on the video display monitors may be involved in a shoot-off. 3. Trophy ties in all handicap events will be shot off after the last event of each day. Trophy ties in singles and doubles events will be carried over to the next like event on the regular pro- gram whenever possible, and shot off by sub-event. If the program does not indicate a carry- over for singles or doubles events, the trophy ties will be shot off after the last event each day. 4. Contestants in shoot-offs will be called over the public address system to report to the designated check-in area. Anyone in a tie who does not answer the call for shoot-offs will forfeit rights to any trophy. 5. The trophy room is located at the east end of the cafeteria. SPRING AND FALL TEAM SHOOTS INFORMATION How to Enter: Team entry forms with instructions will be available at the Squading counter. The team captains must submit the form completely filled out. All A.T.A. reg- istered shooters are eligible to compete on a team, and shooters may shoot on one team only. A high degree of ability is not necessary since class winners in the team events are determined by the Lewis system. Sub-Junior and Junior teams are welcome and encouraged. They must consist of shooters less than 15 and 18 years of age respectively. The Directors reserve the right to reject any team name they determine to be inappropriate. Targets: 100 targets per person at $40.00 (plus A.T.A. and M.T.A. fees) will include targets, trophies and guaranteed purses. Ties: All ties in Event 9, the Team event (except individual and team champion, which will be determined by shoot-off if necessary) will be by reverse score by sub-event. If a tie still exists, it will be decided by reverse long run. Trophies: 165 team trophies – 33 winning teams (including Champion and Runner-up in each of these categories: Lady, Junior, Sub-Junior) 5 Trophies for each team. Individual trophies for Champion and Runner-Up. All scores are official 30 minutes after the event is complete. Junior, Sub-Junior and Lady teams must declare their intentions to shoot for category trophies prior to shooting the Team Event.
