Friends, Since coming to the Mayor’s Office and in partnership with City Council, we have worked hard to create safer neighborhoods, provide more activities for our young people, and high-quality city services that meet the needs of our citizens. Providing fun and meaningful activities for our young people, especially during the summer months, is a critical City function. It is why we’ve made summer camps free at community centers, started free spring break camps, added literacy education to spring and summer camps, and introduced staffed summer play at City parks after its absence for decades. As you flip through the pages of this booklet, you will see the many activities, programs and scheduled events to keep our young people active and engaged through the summer months. You can also find this guide online at Memphistn.gov. The most valuable asset we have as a city is our youth. The investments we make in them today will determine the Memphis we see tomorrow. Yours in Service, Jim Strickland
