THE ALCOCK ROOM AND RESTAURANT Charles Alcock was the first paid employee of Surrey County Cricket Club and is responsible for The Oval hosting the first ever Test Match in the UK – against Australia in 1880 – as well as being influential in the ground hosting the first FA Cup Final. Alcock is honoured at The Kia Oval today with the Alcock Room and Restaurant in the heart of the Members’ Pavilion. The Alcock Room is available on non match-days for Members to use Monday to Friday from 9.30am to Charles Alcock 4.00pm. Tea and coffee is provided throughout the day and a hot lunch option is available to purchase between 12.00pm to 2.00pm. Alongside refreshments, the Alcock MEMBER AND SUPPORTER SERVICES TEAM Room has lounge chairs, free WiFi and outstanding views of The Kia Oval, offering a great facility for Members. Surrey County Cricket Club has a dedicated Member and Supporter Services Team to assist with any queries. INTERNATIONAL FIXTURES The Kia Oval has a long history of hosting International cricket in South London with some of sport’s greatest moments taking place under the famous gas holders. Don Bradman, Sachin Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Kumar Sangakkara, Wasim Akram, Jacques Kalis, Brendon McCullum and Alastair Cook – the world’s greatest nations and cricketers have battled it out at The Kia Oval. Test Match ENGL AND v WEST INDIES 4th - 8th June 2020 start 11am close 6pm 92 years since playing their first Test Match at The Oval – a game in which England won by an innings and 71 runs with Jack Hobbs making 159 – the West Indies will feature again in South London, a place where they have a rich history. The ground is a Stone’s throw from the traditional heartlands of African- Caribbean London. From the 1950s, families arrived, and Caribbean cricket fans regularly packed out The Oval as their heroes dominated. The West Indies’ first series success in England came in 1950 when they sealed a 3-1 series victory at The Oval by defeating England by an innings and 56 runs. From Viv Richards 291 runs in 1976, to Michael Holding taking 14 wickets in the same Test Match, The Oval has proved a home from home for the West Indian team. One-Day International ENGL AND v IREL AND SERIES 15th September 2020 start 1pm close 8.45pm 2020 will be Ireland’s first ever appearance at The Kia Oval as they take on England in a One-Day International. Whilst England will be confident in the 50- over format since their World Cup win in 2019, Ireland will want to mark their first match in South London with a victory. Sam Curran has become an important player for England since making his Test debut in June 2018. The all-rounder was even named Man of the Series as England defeated India 4-1 in 2018 12
RECIPROCAL RIGHTS Whilst watching Surrey at The Kia Oval is an unrivalled experience, you may wish to travel away to opposing counties to follow Surrey as we compete in the County Championship and One-Day Cup. Below lists the County Clubs we have reciprocal rights with. The rights grant you access to use their Members’ facilities when Surrey are playing at their ground. You will still need to purchase a valid match ticket, but upon presentation of your Surrey County Cricket Club Membership card you can enjoy Members’ facilities away from The KIa Oval.
