Forging Florida's Future Hello everyone! My Governor's Project, Forging Florida's Future is an initiative that puts more focus on improving the Florida District, in terms of both service and the responsibilities and duties of the District Board. As a member of the District Board in the 2019-2020, one thing that I've grown disenchanted with was the expectations that were laid out for board members, at both the club and district level, and them not being enforced. Responsibilities outlined for each position have hardly been reviewed in the past years. This Goals: needs to change. In addition to that, members are not receiving the support and resources that they should Improve and encourage be in order to help their club succeed. Here is how I better communication plan to combat these obstacles that negatively impact Revamp all the District: responsibilities of District Board Members Effective communication throughout the Florida Develop and distribute District on all levels is imperative to stand up to the resources collapsing nature of our district. Hello Florida District! My name is Meit Dave and I am seeking the office of District Governor. I am currently a junior at the University of South Florida hoping that I will achieve my lifelong goal of becoming an anesthesiologist. I have been involved in the Kiwanis family for a little over 6 years and hope to increase that number in the coming years. From the experience that I gained as the Conventions Chair and my past leadership positions in the Kiwanis Family, I feel as though I am the ideal candidate for District Governor. My Governor’s Project, Forging Florida’s Future, encourages members to take a step back and analyze why our district has not been performing at the level that it should be. My goal with this Governor’s Project is to not only encourage positive changes to our district, but also find a way to implement service projects throughout the district that will make a noticeable impact. If you would like more information about my Governor’s Project, please take a look at my campaign literature, or even better, ask me in person! I look forward to seeing you at DCON! Yours in Service, Meit Dave

Eduardo Martinez, Candidate for District Governor Miami Dade College - North Campus January 24, 2020 Dear Florida District of Circle K Leaders, I am writing this letter to declare my intent to run for the position of 2020-2021 District Governor for the Florida District of Circle K International, inclusive of the clubs from the Cayman Islands to the farthest north clubs stretching from Pensacola to Jacksonville and all points in between. My name is Eduardo Martinez, I have been in the Kiwanis Family for over seven years. My journey began as a shy freshman in high school running to be my Key Club’s charter secretary, little did I know when I got my feet wet with Kiwanis; I had found my second family instantaneously. For as long as I can remember in Key Club I had always felt “FLACKI” was merely a reference to a cute stuffed animal. However, as the time grew closer for me to join the Florida District of Circle K, I realized “FLACKI” was so much more than just a bird or the next step up from Key Club. Instead, it became very apparent to me that “FLACKI” was the symbol of like-minded individuals who through rendering altruistic service to their fellow humankind. While acknowledging there is a “cute FLACKI” side to our organization, there must also be a strong affirmation from every member in our district, that together they can find new approaches to address what the exact issues are and then plan on ways we can improve upon those issues. You might ask me, “Do you have your own ideas on how to solve these issues?” I am pleased to say that yes I do have my own ideas, but I believe that the best ideas come from collaborating with one another. No one person will have all of the answers, so it is important that we come together to come up with a comprehensive plan for our district. My goals as Governor are to strengthen our current clubs so that they may grow and mature into strong clubs setting an example for newly chartered clubs to emulate. My second goal is now obvious in that I would like the district to grow by 20% the number of clubs and membership growth of 30%. I commit that as your District Governor, I will not stop working to better our district in every way possible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to approach me! I look forward to meeting each and everyone and answering any questions you may have at any time during the convention! I humbly ask for your vote of support in my candidacy. Sincerely, Eduardo Martinez

Alexander Perez Tallahassee Community College Tallahassee, FL January 24, 2020 To the Florida District of Circle K International, This letter is the official notice of my intent to run for District Governor for the 2020- 2021 year. My name is Alex Perez and I currently serve as your District Secretary. I have served on the Florida District Board on multiple levels. I began my journey in CKI leadership as my home club’s secretary and then progressing to Vice-President, District Committee Chair, Suncoast Division Liaison, and now District Secretary. It is my plan to use my experience in all these positions to better benefit the clubs and their members. My goal as the 2020-2021 District Governor is to redesign the working of the District Board. For years, the bare minimum of the board has been to keep clubs up to date and provide them with available resources. I want to change it to allow the District Board to be able to make these resources and help clubs with their specific issues. The District has spent years in a membership decline and my plan is to use my position and resources to push the District into a state of growth. My Governor’s Project is centered around two tiers, both with a center of focus. The purpose of this to increase the attention paid to membership recruitment and retention, while still promoting impactful service in our communities. It’s time we paid more attention to what is happening with our clubs that is causing this rapid decline and work to resolve these issues as fast as possible. The years and time I dedicated to this organization has been an amazing honor and I’m looking forward to the potential that we have as a community. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to run for this position and spending this busy DCON weekend with everyone. Yours in Service, Alex Perez

Deanna Kreinbring January 11th, 2020 Dear Florida District of Circle K International, My name is Deanna Kreinbring, and I am running to serve our Florida District as Secretary. I am a second-year student studying criminology and business at the University of Florida. My positions as Kiwanis Family Relations chairs for both UF CKI and the District have given me many valuable experiences that I believe have prepared me for this role and opened my eyes to what the Florida District is truly capable of. My plans to serve the Florida District include the following: increase communication throughout the District; provide clubs an opportunity to have their voice, opinions, and ideas heard; support committee chairs on the District and club level; increase resource awareness on all levels. I joined CKI after Key Club because of the amazing service projects and friends I made along the way. I stayed in CKI because it became my family. As a first-generation student on a large college campus, I may not have as much support as other students. CKI became my home-away from-home; a place where I could truly be myself and explore my passion for service. My personal experiences have taught me to always go after what I am passionate about. With this in mind, I humbly ask for your consideration as the next Secretary of the Florida District. Yours in service, Deanna Kreinbring

Frederick Brea Miami Dade College-Wolfson Campus January 24, 2019 Dear Florida District of Circle K, My name is Frederick Brea and I am seeking the position of District Treasurer. I am currently the Suncoast Division Liaison and Circle K International Charter President at Miami Dade College Wolfson campus. I was also Key Club President back in high school. I have been in this family for almost five years. From being Key Club President I familiarized myself with the Kiwanis Family and all the branches. As Suncoast Liaison, I am in charge of a Division just like a Lieutenant Governor. The only difference is that I was appointed by the Governor because there was a vacancy in the position. The Division is far from my school, however, that did not stop me from going to the schools and helping them. As mentioned, I am the charter president for a Circle K club at Miami Dade College which has taught me how to balance more than one position. With two positions, I have had to learn how to manage time, accomplish goals in both positions, divide the responsibilities and still commit to other activities in school. As a Suncoast Liaison, I learned to help more than one club at risk. These clubs needed help with their dues, and with membership growth. From helping them I have experience with the dues structure, the Membership Update Center and the invoices. As District Treasurer, I commit myself to help the clubs in the district pay dues on time, and teach members about and why we pay dues and the benefits that come along with it. First, I will educate members about the dues structure and what our dues fund district and international wise. Then, I will help them create a budget, pay dues and pave a successful path for their club. In other words, I will be committed to help the clubs in the district to be successful not only with their money but also with their membership. Besides these goals, I will also help them with fundraisers and help develop all the ideas. I believe I am prepared to run for higher office in the Florida District of Circle K International. This position will keep preparing me for the future. I promise to always keep working to help with the improvement of the organization. Thank you for the opportunity! Yours in service, Frederick Brea

Dear Florida and Cayman Islands District, My name is Matt Wade, and I am writing this letter to declare my intent to run for the election of your 2020-2021 District Editor. I am entering my 6th year in the Kiwanis Family. Like many CKI’ers, I joined the Kiwanis Family when I joined Key Club during my freshman year of high school. When I graduated from high school, I knew I wanted to join CKI right away to find friends quickly. Also, I wanted to focus on CKI from the get-go as opposed to splitting my time between many different clubs like I did in the beginning of high school. I never would have thought that after my first year in CKI that I would be campaigning at DCON. This year has moved very quickly for me. I started my first semester at the University of Central Florida where I immediately joined Circle K last Fall. I went to every service event and every social event that I could because I enjoyed hanging out with other service-crazed people. During my first semester, I was elected Club Editor and then appointed District Editor. My first semester was stressful to say the least but also thrilling. Since December, when I was appointed to serve on your 2019-2020 District Board, life has calmed down quite a bit. Serving on your District Board has been an experience like none other. My leadership skills have grown exponentially as I got to work with so many different people with so many different styles of leadership. Seeing behind-the-scenes of how the District operates day-to-day was also a unique experience that I never would have had if I wasn’t appointed to District Editor. I have gotten to see where the District has excelled as well as where the District can improve. As your District Editor, I will work to empower our transparency, unity, and permanence as a District. I believe that there is 1 product that can achieve all 3 of these goals: a photo-sharing Google Drive. I call it RoundAbout because circles are round . . . and Circle K is a circle. The District already utilizes Google Drive for all file storage, so why not add a central location for photos? Also, the Google Drive gets passed down from board to board, so if photos were added, then future boards could look at past service projects in an organized method to assist the District further down the line. If you have any more questions about this exciting venture or my overall campaign, please reach out to me at either of my contacts below, or find me at DCON. Thank you for spending the time to read this letter, and I look forward to spending DCON with you all! With Lots of Love, Matt Wade Matt Wade Email: matthew-wade@live.com Phone: (813) 389-6201
International Endorsements Candidates
Hello Lovely Florida District of CKI, My name is Kaitlyn Carroll and I am seeking your endorsement to run for the position of International Trustee for the 2020-2021 service year. My Kiwanis Family story, like so many others, began when I joined Key Club in high school. After 3 years, serving my community and the Kiwanis Family had become my entire life. As soon as I was ready to depart my small town for a university with over 30,000 students, I knew I wanted to find a community of people that could make Florida State feel like home, which is why I was immediately drawn to CKI and became an active member of my club. When the opportunity arose to run for Panhandle LTG, I knew I had to seize the opportunity to serve on the district board and help the club I love, as well as every other club in the Panhandle, improve and grow. It has been an amazing honor to serve as LTG this year while working alongside so many other dedicated CKI members who inspire me at every board meeting we attend. Serving as Panhandle Lieutenant Governor and being a part of the FLACKI District Board has been an experience I know I will cherish for a very long time. I wanted to take my experience in CKI a step further, and upon learning more about the WASH Project at a CKIx workshop, I knew I wanted to improve awareness of the WASH Project and access to fundraising resources to help CKI reach our goal of $240,000 by 2022. I was appointed as the WASH/UNICEF Ambassador last August, where I have been able to work with people from all across CKI on the International Service Committee, as well as learn more about International, how it functions, and how it impacts our clubs and districts. While the new CKI year was approaching, I was inspired to run for International Trustee, where I will have the opportunity to represent and work with CKI districts, as well as act as a liaison for an international committee, where I will use my experiences as a member to help execute their goals and ambitions. I hope to be able to proudly represent FLACKI on the international level, and that is why I humbly seek your endorsement, as well as your love and support, to run for International Trustee at CKIx 2020. Yours in Service,

Maria Alejandra Landron Palm Beach Atlantic University Candidate for International Vice President January 24, 2020 Dear Florida and the Cayman Islands, My name is Maria Alejandra Landron and I am writing this letter to formalize my interest in running for the position of 2020-2021 International Vice President. Being in CKI for the last three years has been the most wonderful experience of my lifetime. Through this family, I have made lifetime friends while serving my community and seeing others grow as leaders. As International Vice President, I am ready to take our family to the next level. Three years ago, I took a leap of faith in this organization and charted my home CKI club during my first semester in college. I chartered my club from scratch, and at the beginning, it all felt like a one-man-show. After years of being involved in the growth initiatives of the club, district, and international level I came to a very simple conclusion. Just like Rome wasn’t built in a day, the same goes for CKI. Sustainable growth takes time. If elected, that will be my message as International Vice President. I currently serve as an International Trustee on the 2019-2020 International Board. As a trustee, I represent the voices of the Panama, Kentucky-Tennessee, Rocky Mountains, and Caribbean Districts. I also currently serve as the Global Development Committee Chair, where I oversee all of the international regions. As well as the Membership Chair for the Florida District. As International Vice President, my goals are centered on strengthening our international committee system by implementing committee liaisons who will facilitate communication with their district board counterparts, strengthen our training, and create yearly plans in order to ensure committee progress. I also plan on focusing on the expansion and/or restructuring of our international regions and make sure their service, leadership, and fellowship are highlighted. Anyone who knows me knows that CKI is something I love with my whole heart and will always do anything in my power to see this organization grow. This is exactly what I intend on doing if elected International Vice President. In this together, Maria Alejandra Landron

Derek Stewart Tallahassee Community College Tallahassee, Florida January 21 , 2020 st To the Florida District, My name is Derek Stewart, and I am officially announcing my candidacy for the position of International Vice-President for the 2020-2021 year. I have been in the Kiwanis Family for 6 years now, and I couldn’t be happier that I was led to this wonderful family. Through my journey in Circle K International, I served as District Treasurer where my time management skills were truly put to the test I had to balance CKI work, community service, family emergencies, work, and school. However, this made me work even harder to accomplish, revamping the budget, working with other District Treasurers ensuring they were prepared for their District, creating documents on accessing the MUC, generating new dues publications, reviewing scholarship applications, and develop email templates. Through it all, plenty of discussion of the future for our organization was had, through countless phone calls at all times of the day, focusing on getting the passion back in our members. By all of this hard work I was recognized at Orlando CKIx as one of two District Treasurers to be recognized as Distinguished. This past year I served as the District Legal Chair, ensuring that our District functioned in accordance with out bylaws. I revived our District Policy Code, assisted with Bylaw questions, drafted a multitude of Bylaw amendments, and worked closely with our board members to help keep us on track. This is not to say that our year was without issues, but I want to work to change those issues for the future of our organization. As International Vice-President I hope to reignite the strength of our Districts with plans working to finalize a more appropriate fees structure, focusing on more promotional materials to showcase why we are such a great organization, and work to create a way for our Districts to assess the strengths of our clubs, similarly to what was once the International Analytical Ad-Hoc Committee from 2015. These three goals are a unified idea to address the issue which we have been facing for a long time on International, Membership Decline. By inspiring our members to do projects they are passionate about, they are more likely to WANT to talk about the club they are in. Their passion is able to be recognized and in turn they are able to help others recognize the passion within themselves going unnoticed. With more resources available to our members it becomes easier for them to express these emotions. The experience and skills I have adopted throughout the years can be easily incorporated within our organization to get us back on track to growing and making an even larger impact in our local, state, and international communities. Yours in Service, Derek Stewart

Hello Florida District, My name is Mayra Gonzalez Guzman and this letter serves as my official intent to campaign and run for the position. I am hoping for your support in becoming your next Lieutenant Governor for the Suwannee Division. I believe in my experience as a club member looking at my role models and taking an officer position in CKI has provided me with the knowledge and charisma needed to be a great candidate for this position in the Florida. My experience with Kiwanis has only ever been good and I see my relationship with the clubs in the division only grow more since it has been chartered. Within the last two years my home club has grown to where I can proudly say we have established a place of both community and fellowship in the Jacksonville area. Although my home club still has some way to go, I hope as your future Lieutenant Governor, I can help establish ways for us, as both a divisional and district personale, to grow our interclub relations, better communication within all the divisions, have bi-monthly DMC’s, and reach out to those who need help when given the opportunity to help fellow members. I believe with these goals in mind myself and others in our division will be able to create a fantastic year for those to come. Cheers, Mayra Gonzalez Guzman
