COMMITTEE RULINGS 1. PRIORITY ON THE COURSE (a) The tee is closed for general play whenever it is reserved for competitions, matches or society bookings. (b) No more than 4 balls may be played in any match, and no more than 4 players are permitted in a foursomes match, unless by prior permission of the General Manager. (c) Any match playing a whole round and starting at the 1st tee is entitled to pass a match playing a shorter round. Players coming from the 9th or 18th have no priority on the first tee, except in official Club matches where players starting at any tee other than the 1st will have priority coming from the 18th to the 1st tee. (d) If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses one clear hole on the players in front, it must invite the match following to pass. (e) If there is no reserved tee time, all of the players intending to play in a game must be present on the tee, to establish that team’s precedence in order of play. (f) When the course is open for general play, courtesy of the tee will be offered to the Captains. (g) A player must not play more than 2 balls on the course or pitch and putt course and must not use any part of the course proper as a practice area. (h) Greens staff have priority whilst working on the course. 2. COMPETITIONS – GENERAL (a) Conditions of Entry for All Competitions i) All players must register prior to starting their round, either on the HowDidIDo phone app or in the Pro Shop (or Starter’s Desk) and collect their scorecard. Sufficient funds must be available on your Green Card to enable you to register. ii) It is the player’s responsibility to confirm that the correct title of the competition, date, player’s name, and course handicap are recorded on the scorecard. Course handicap is expressed as an integer and represents the number of strokes the player receives for competition purposes before allowances. iii) Priority on the first tee is according to the start sheet or the order of the draw.
iv) Players should be at the tee 5 minutes before their starting time and be ready to play. They must drive off on time and play without delay throughout the round. v) Players arriving on the tee, ready to play within 5 minutes after their starting time will be penalised under the R & A Rules of Golf 5.3a - loss of the first hole in match play, or two strokes at the first hole in stroke play. Immediately after completion of play, all players are required to enter their gross scores, either via the HowDidIDo phone app or on the terminal in the Lounge, and post their scorecard in the designated box. viii) Players cannot NR their round. If a player, having started a hole has no score to record, they must enter “NR” or 0 (zero) for that hole only and continue to complete the remaining holes. Scores must be input on the PSI system and scorecards returned as normal. Failure to return a scorecard in these circumstances will be dealt with in accordance with rule 7.1(b) of the World Handicap System (WHS) Rules of Handicapping 2020 (Penalty Score). ix) Players must mark NS (not started) for any hole that is not commenced. x) Members who cancel or fail to turn up on the day of competition are liable for payment of the entry fee. xi) Members must not enter their names on competition start sheets if they do not intend to play in unfavourable weather conditions. xii) Players may use buggies in all competitions except the Gents’ Club Championship and any other competitions where the rules do not permit the use of buggies.
