Promotion Criteria 学生升级分班准则
Banding Criteria for P4 to P5 分班准则 • Mathematics results as 1st Banding Criterion Form Class 数 学成绩 • As Mathematics & Science have strong correlation, no banding for Science • English lessons will be banded using P4 English results 英文成绩 • Mother Tongue lessons will be banded 母语课 • Pull Out classes will be arranged if necessary to support pupils who need additional help [within manpower constraints] 小组 分班
Promotion for P5 to P6 分班准则 En Bloc Promotion • There may be re-banding of subject classes based on the learning pace of the pupils using P1 results as a reference 若有必要,会根据学生需要重新组合 • Pull Out Classes will be arranged to support pupils within manpower constraints 若有足够老师,会安排小组 教学,帮助学生掌握基本概念

Information on Assessment • School Access Arrangement [AA] 考试环境特殊安排 in the past years does not mean child will be given AA in PSLE by SEAB • Application for AA must be supported by Report and recommendation by EP 教育辅导官推荐报告 • Application deadline for AA in PSLE 申请截止日期 • End January 2019 – School will receive outcome in Mid-June 2019

PSLE Matters • PSLE – a placement exam 按小六会考成绩分派中学 • Places pupils into different courses according to their academic ability 按小六会考成绩安排课程源流 • Enables posting to secondary schools by merit and as far as possible into a school of their choice 让孩子们根 据自己的学习能力,选择适合自己的学校
PSLE Matters • What is PSLE Aggregate Score? • It is a sum of the T-score of the 4 subjects • It allows pupils to be ranked fairly • Raw scores are not used because: • Different subjects have different levels of difficulty • A need for standardization of raw scores t-score

Direct School Admission [DSA] 直接收生计划 Rationale • Promote Holistic Education 提倡全面教育 • Provides pupils an opportunity to enrol in a school based on their talents, potential and achievements that cannot be demonstrated through the PSLE; e.g. talents in Sports, Arts, Subject Areas 凭多元特殊才艺进入有适合学习项目的学府
Direct School Admission [DSA] 直接收生计划 Application • From the 2019 DSA-Sec, students will be able to apply for DSA through a centralized DSA-Sec Application Portal, using a common application form 简化申请程序 – 网上统一报名
2019 DSA-Sec Application Timeline 申请期限 DSA-Sec Portal Secondary schools Process from this point opens on 8 May can download onwards is the same as 2019 applicants’ details previous year. See tentative 2019 DSA-Sec calendar in from the Portal Slide 11. 4 June Time for secondary schools to shortlist By 31 August and hold selection 8 May 17 June 2 weeks for HQ to consolidate applicants’ data and extract Secondary schools School Cockpit data should have completed their DSA-Sec selection DSA-Sec Portal closes on 4 Jun 2019 55
Making Choices for DSA 选择学校 • Each applicant can indicate up to three choices using the DSA- Sec Portal 只能申请3所学校 • Choice order does not matter • Applicant can choose to apply to two different talent areas, under the same school 用两项才艺项目 • Secondary schools have the prerogative to shortlist students for the stronger area Note. Students can apply separately to SOTA and/or SSP, on top of the three choices made using the DSA-Sec Portal. 可另加申请体育学校和艺术学校 56

New Partnership with Parents Parent involvement has a sound research base attesting to the many potential benefits it can offer in education. Studies of students from the elementary school to high school show a beneficial relationship between parental involvement and the following motivational constructs: school engagement, intrinsic/extrinsic motivation, perceived competence, perceived control, self-regulation, mastery goal orientation, and motivation to read.
