SCHOOL OF MEDICINE UNIVERSITY OF PADUA The aim of the course is… …to educate specialised graduates with an advanced biomedical knowledge concerning the links between the structure and the purpose of biomolecules and bio-‐systems operaGng at cellular and Gssue level of the human body, in both physiological and pathological condiGons. The wide knowledge of the techniques is based on a solid prac>cal ac>vity in laboratories.

What are the specific biotechnological experimental competences? Ø gene>c diagnosis and therapy Ø assisted insemina>on Ø therapies with engineered cells Ø ra>onal design and development of new medicines Ø construc>on of nano-‐biotechnological instruments for advanced diagnos>c Ø imaging and drug delivery Ø immune response modula>on Ø diagnos>c based on innova>ve process of medical laboratory techniques Ø immunotherapy with aimed cellular targets
Organising, coordina>ng, managing and planning… Ø lab ac>vi>es for the research with advanced diagnos>c inves>ga>on and the use of biotechnological methodology and manipula>on of cells or other biotechnological products Ø the experimental part of clinical researches implying the use of biotechnological techniques or other biotechnological products Ø biotechnological research applied to medical science Ø the developing and monitoring of biotechnological programs applied to human beings in respect of ethical, technical, environmental and economic implica>ons
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE UNIVERSITY OF PADUA In order to be admiLed students must have: Ø an adequate personal qualifica>on to be able to pass the entrance test Ø a good knowledge of chemistry, physics, mathema>cs, cell structure and animal biology, according to the plan approved by the Consiglio del Corso di Laurea Ø a good English language knowledge, adequate to understand lessons in English, according to the criteria set by the Course
Students must also: Ø Have obtained the bachelor degree before the date that will be communicated in the admission no>ce Ø Enroll for the test within the end of August 2014. The exact date will be communicated in the admission no>ce Ø Pass the entrance test

SCHOOL OF MEDICINE UNIVERSITY OF PADUA ENTRANCE TEST CONSISTS OF 50 MULTIPLE-‐CHOICE QUESTIONS (IN ENGLISH): 46 QUESTIONS WILL VERIFY KNOWLEDGE OF FOLLOWING SUBJECTS: -‐ MATHEMATICS – STATISTICS -‐ BIOETICS – SOCIOLOGY – ECOLOGY – PATENT LAW -‐ CHEMISTRY – BIOCHEMISTRY -‐ PHYSICS -‐ BIOLOGY – PATHOLOGY -‐ MICROBIOLOGY -‐ GENETICS -‐ IMMUNOLOGY 4 QUESTIONS WILL VERIFY COMPREHENSION OF TEXTS IN ENGLISH The test will be scored as follows: each correct response equals 1 (one), each incorrect answer entails a penalty of – 0.25, and blank responses are given a value of 0 (zero).

All in an interdisciplinary perspective that includes topics such as: the value of intellectual property business management legislation bioethics communication The degree program prepares students who will take care of molecular medicine without dealing directly with the patient and who will work in one of the leading sectors of the international research
MEDICINA E CHIRURGIA MASTER DEGREE IN MEDICAL BIOTECHNOLOGIES The course is designed as a cultural link between the three-‐year bachelor programs and interna>onal doctoral programs held in Padua University.
