WHO ARE WE Our core aim is to promote the development of the highest standard of nursing care for the patient with a dermatological condition The British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) is the professional organisation for nurses working in dermatology. A registered charity, we are focused on providing high quality education and professional development for nurses and other healthcare professional with an interest in dermatology. Established in 1989, we now connect with over 2,400 nurses throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. We are the essential resource for the dermatology nursing community with a comprehensive portfolio of educational and professional development assets to support our members and the wider dermatology community.
OUR MEMBERSHIP
The BDNG membership continues to grow with over 2,200

dermatology nurses but we have a growing number of other
healthcare professionals with an interest in dermatology. Members of BDNG Clinical Nurse
Specialists/Nurse
Practitioners
Non medical prescribing is particularly prevalent amongst our
membership. This enables nurses to prescribe the full range of
dermatological topical and systemic medicines.
Due to significant levels of Consultant Dermatologist vacancies in
the UK, nurses have become a key component of the workforce
delivering patient services. Nurses have extended their role

significantly to fill this gap and a high number of our members
are involved in nurse led clinics.

decision makers within the dermatology department.
OUR JOURNAL Dermatological Nursing is a key benefit for the BDNG membership and is distributed to all 2200 members quarterly in March, June, September and December. An issue is also distributed to every dermatology department in the UK and Ireland annually. It is the only peer reviewed journal in the UK to concentrate on the nursing care of the patients with dermatological conditions. PRODUCT REVIEW Benefits include: • A wide audience beyond the extensive journal readership • Product reviews are read and referred to by department staff over a long period of time • Individual nurse often keep product reviews to distribute to primary care staff or when training junior nurses • Working in partnership with a professional organisation, such as the BDNG, gives the product review a stamp of quality and credibility • The BDNG will provide you with feedback on your review Your product review: • Would be written by a leading clinician or you can nominate a nurse • The review will be 4 pages maximum (including an advert) • Additional pages can be secured at an additional cost • The review would be placed on the BDNG website for 3months • Additional charges would apply for reprints
