RENEWED INTEREST IN JAPAN DUE TO GAMES 01 Global telecasts and other coverage of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2021 will generate renewed interest in Japan. The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) is leveraging this opportunity to enhance global awareness of Japan’s many appealing but lesser-known sites and attractions. 1. REGIONAL ATTRACTIONS 2. 02 LATENT INTEREST IN JAPAN TOURISM Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, when inbound visitation to Japan was increasing robustly year by year, the Japanese government set a goal to attract 60 million inbound 2019 (Jan-Dec) visitors by 2030.
